What I really like about this channel is that he never put fake intros like walking around a vacant lot or dump site and then suddenly he would find a console or gadgets lying around in good condition. Some of you know what I'm talking about.
Yeah, but the junk rubbed into the top of the PS2 is a bit too dramatic compared to how blindingly white if a touch dusty it looked inside. Also, it's killing me inside how he didn't use the right size screwdriver to loosen the screws.
@@sIDsleeperman I was thinking the same thing. The overexposure does no justice to the quality of the video. Everything mashes together to the point you can see anything
This model of the Playstation 2 (PS2) was released only in japan in 2007 small numbers. It quickly became a rare item, has the units in the country were sold out in the first 2 weeks. Naturally, the unit became proportionally thought-after across the world, to become a classic collector item.
@@resEG I am not that sure about that. Japan usually had-have white consoles in offer in quite the numbers from PS2 onwards. Europe was also filled with white PS2 through different revisions from 1st to last gen of slims. Sure they were smaller numbers then the black ones but still wasn't that rare. I would rather say the pink is actually rare not the white and silver ones. They been re-released often as bundles, with eyetoy party games and karaoke box packs. No clue if they were ever released in USA-CA but in Europe and Japan so as Asia in general got them I know since seen plenty. Party games were popular in these regions hence why they were common in stores. You wont find much 2nd hand since people keep them compared to other ones. I see the games pop up through years but the consoles and controllers are kept and often passed onto a friend or relative, very rarely they sell these. I was also looking for a red one for a long time here in Europe, only seen JP versions on extremely rare occasions, however the sellers asked too much or the consoles or simply were too much broken that it was pointless to even try to repair. At one point I stopped searching. A friend also got one repaired it then chipped it but was expensive I regret not buying it back then. Was in 2012 or so.
This is impressive. I absolutely love how clean the console is now. I wish someday i will be able to restoring things as good as you. Keep uploading videos please!
What a great team Barcelona had at that time. And the restoration as always rewarding. It is pure satisfaction to see such a battered device and that at the end of the video it is like new, working with care, care and devotion. As always, great video.
When it comes to all that grime and gunk dirt, I usually put things in a soapy tub and leave it in for few hours sometimes even one day, depends of the build up. Would never waste much magic foam or waste time on rubbing cleaning right away. Those build ups need to let go 1st and that takes time to actually soak up the chemicals to kick in 1st.
I find it funny how I already scrolled past a restoration video for a filthy white slim PS2 with Disney stickers to arrive at this video…also of a filthy white slim PS2 with Disney stickers
Only thing. I would suggest, is in post production correct your color balance, and your overexposure. The white background and colors flood the screen too much and makes it hard to distinguish items.
Either he spent HOURS scrubbing those shell pieces, especially white, they had those awful stubborn stains on them or he did a swap. I don't buy that those are the same pieces. You saw how much of a struggle he had trying to get them out even with "magic eraser". And this was originally broken no power...we dont see the fix, what was the problem? This video unfortunately for me is missing crucial parts to make me believe otherwise. Being someone who buys a lot of consoles and cleans and restores / repairs for resale its been heavily edited.
Dang, you must be a real blast to be around in person. You seem like you know so much about everything, you should start a YT channel about how everything you say is the truth and anything anyone else says is fake. Go be miserable somewhere else.
Nice work ! I see you applied glue all along the track of the lens' ribbon cable, how did you manage to glue the right length ? (enough to let the lens move but not too much so that the ribbon don't touch the disc when the lens is near the center)
The white versions came out in the US and Canada, but what causes the confusion is that there's Pearl White, Snow White and Ceramic White with no indication as to which regions those maybe tied to, at least not on the cursory check I've done. The real finds are the Pink and Cinnabar colored ones, I guess those were LE versions and only released in Oceania/Asia.
Glad you resisted the urge to touch the spinning exposed disk. First NFSMW video looked really bad, whats up with that? Soccer appeared okay. Is the mod on the board for accepting burned disks?
yeah it has to be a mod that lets it play burned disks. idk about that quality tho, could be the burned disk version or something from the hardware, could even be the mod itself doing something to the ps2 as well. i kind of wish it was un-modded and restored fully but that kind of skill is a diff skill set.
Great video, it's great to see that ps2 working again. I like your videos but I don't know why the more I watch them, the more I see that 80% of those are a kind of copy of Odd Tinkering videos..
yep, its all just a sham, they wanted to look like odd tinkering as possible, fake damage on some consoles varying to belivable, to “taiwan dirt”, and hope he gets a ton of views

I probably have one the best slim ps2 versions because it doesn't need an external power supply, only problem is that i opened to clean it and acidentally damaged the disc reader orange flat cable R.I.P
Man as soon as I saw the case I was like “there is no other choice other than magic eraser, machine polishing with car polish & UV Bleaching” cause that thing used every last ounce of willpower to survive it’s last owner apparently lol
Yeah its even more obvious when its pearl white on the inside and literally glowing white after he simply scrubs it with a sponge. Such sheep watch this and take it seriously.
Cool restoration, it's a pity that only in life electronics does not come to life from the fact that it was washed ((( at least they poked the board itself with a multimeter for the sake of decency😂😂😂

Nice work. Though zero need to remove the ribbon cable...
Excelente trabalho, parabéns❗👍😎
Nice one, done a fantastic restoration👍l know how much work goes into restoring a game console
I like it , please do a lot of these videos ❤❤
I hate how Sony made the ps2 slim so complicated to repair you must have a specific glue for the ribbon cable
Exactly right yeah
Just use a very slim tesa doublesided tape. Works great for it.
You can order replacement laser cables preglued. Just have to remove a protective strip and it will stick right on.
but you have to credit Sony's engineers for recreating the best console into a tiny form factor.
@@studbyte I wouldn't go that far I have a bad history with the ps2 slim both 7000 and 9000 model
