I'm 6' and 200lbs... still carry some holiday weight from 2009 and I love this bike, finally a sport bike that doesn't require a chiropractor visit after half hour of riding. Also, i like the over all power because on high end power bike, I'm constantly testing my self control. So go for it people... just toss those antlers out, and get a cool gel seat cover

A Ducati you can actually live with and use everyday! Most of the Panigales are so cramped and hot, it's for enthusiasts only.

I don't see this as a sports tourer - the fact that you can still get paniers for it may suggest it, but Ducati doesn't use the term anywhere for it - they seem to be marketing it as a 'street' alternative to the Panigale series, so basically it's more of an oldschool sports bike. Most sports tourers are larger, heavier, with even higher bars and lower seats.

He invited me 'to throw a leg' over...thats when I knew my time has a cafe racer, 1960 Rocker was over, time had taking its toll. Great description of the bike. Im a newer rider and upgraded to the 2017 S model this year after a year riding the 650 ninja. It has that perfect balance of sports and touring elements. As a newer rider the engine is smooth and punchy down low, compared to the 650 ninja I did find I had to change gear a lot more at lower speeds but the quick shift is a dream for that and the over run from the exhaust just brings a smile with its little pops and bangs. Riding position is not as upright as the ninja but isn't back breaking as a race ready bike and when i brought mine i also had a 2 hour ride back from picking it up all be on motorway, but had no pain being in that position for the amount of time. The seat gets a bit hot around town and in warm conditions but its a ducati thing.
Over all, i think its a great upgrade and hope for many fun filled miles on it.

It a couple of years later, but I really like the on-the-road review of the bike. I have a Hypermotard 950 SP, but naked bikes at sustained high speed are challenge that gets old quickly. Two hours ago I was at my local Ducati deanship sitting on one to get a sense of the riser and seat that seems to be the talk of most reviewers. Frankly, they aren't so high that I felt like a begging puppy. The wheels seem to be cast and not forged, so that is a ding against it, but I just happen to have an unused set of Marchisini wheels, so I would switch them out. thanks for the review.

I Absolutely love my my 21 950 S. Only two very minor complaints....the mirriors vibrate terribly on not so smooth roads and if you get stuck in stop and go traffic on a hot summer day your legs get pretty toasty. But very user friendly sports bike and ergonomics are good for a middle aged overweight guy like me that is still 16 at heart!

    • @bencourriel

I rent this bike in Italy and I agree with you, the two minor complaints for me is the mirrors vibration and the heat for you legs when you get stuck in traffic on a hot summer day. Beside that, it is perfect!

What an eye opening review, Sir...I'm about to get the bike of my dreams soon, since my last bike, over 30yrs ago, was a 1986 FZ600 Yamaha that was destroyed by an inattentive motorist and now, here I am at 55yrs old, it appears that THIS motorbike will more than suffice...Especially when you pointed out the discomfiting issues with more "powerful" bikes that invariably come with a "cost" to an older mans ergonomical concerns...I don't need any NEW aches and pains just to look kool. That's a young man's game. Now I can look kool and be comfortable as well. Thanks again for the AWESOME review and Cheers and much success to your channel.

I've heard a few real world reviewer say 200 HP is pointless on public roads...better to let the engine spins up. I owned an earlier incarnation of a race orientated Ducati, a bevel drive 900 SS. There was the temptation to let the torque of the engine do the work low down...this was a mistake as it had a reputation of 'doing the main bearing in' Your right, all race type/style Ducatis are stunningly beautiful

I have a streetfighter 848 and just that is smooth as silk, so the supersport, is one of the next three on my list as it must be even smoother. But my MV 1090 Brutale is also a miraculous thing, but not as super comfortable as the streetfighter. The supersport is similar with a fairing but the riding experience is similar enough, to say that both the streetfighter and the supersport are among the most surprising bikes one could ride, and highly recomendable daily rides.

Especially for most weekend riders or tourers that don’t have track or racing experience. Most people would kill themselves with 150hp and it makes no sense to be in 1st until 90kph on the street. Big numbers are just a pointless dick measuring contest for the most part. My scrambler 1200 has 90hp and it feels like more than enough.

Biggest “downside” of the VFR is it’s hefty curb weight compared to this. Downside is really only for those looking at doing some track riding in the weekends, the extra heft will make it worse. For a daily, not that big a deal in all reality.

I went to a Ducati dealer and absolutely fell in love with the Supersport 950S, but the Monster is also very appealing to me, not only because it’s cheaper. Most of my riding would take place in the city. Which one would you suggest for a beginner? Or would you suggest these at all?

I know I sound like an even older sod than I am... but I really wish Ducati had added the option of hard lugage and a cruise control to this bike (and a slightly bigger tank). Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE to own one, but doing a fair bit of touring and not having the budget for two bikes sadly makes it less of an option than it could have been. Honestly, a modern ST3 is really the kind of bike I'd want... and noone seems to be making these days.

Thanks Mark, and theres not that many to be fair, the Kawasaki 1000 SX is one for sure, and the new Suzuki GSXS1000GT is in the mix, but then the market seems to be either more expensive, or going down the more upright Adventure Tourer shape.

Great bike, rode a 2020 S, but chose the Multi 950s for its better touring capabilities. IMO, this bike would be more suited with the V2 power plant - for that aging demographic that is moving away from super sports.

Looks like a great bike! Currently have a RS660, but I've been thinking about a slight upgrade eventually. Would you say this would be a good step -up or should I just go for the V2? I do mostly spirited rides on back road twisties and canyons with the occasional highway to and from places.

@@mancavemoto that's kinda what I'm thinking. One of the things I like most about the 660 is the sporty, yet comfortable riding position. I'm just concerned the power difference between the 660 and Supersport isn't big enough to justify the switch, that's why I'm also thinking the Panigale.

I tried very hard by pushing it, it did try to stop the bike but not completely, is this something common ? Am worried its a brand new, not even a month rear brake not working

    • @mancavemoto
      @mancavemoto  2 роки тому +2

Rear brakes are not designed to stop the bike n a hurry, they are used for scrubbing off speed and balancing the braking. This is pretty common with all bikes
