It's November 2024. A distracted driver totaled my Corolla. This outstanding and informative review helped me to make my mind in the purchase of my 2020 Tundra 1794. Many thanks to you, Mike.
Owned the 2014 1794 2x4 version and it was very fast when engaging the tow haul button and turning off all the "nannies" - like pin you against your seat fast and rear end other cars, fast. Also towed around a 7000+ lbs boxy RV and could easily accelerate up long hills going 60+, if in tow haul mode and/or non-tow haul mode but with stick in 4th gear. Towed in 5th and 4th most of the time. Engine screamed but it was happy that way. My wallet wasn't as I had to stop at 120 miles or about half a tank to get gas. Got like 7.5 to maybe 9.5 miles/gallon towing.
Truck was simple but reliable. Miss it..alot.
Now I'm in a used 2016 Ram 2500 4x4 Cummins and having all kinds of issues mechanically (steering linkage, loose steering, pulling steering) (cruise control intermittently works) ( steering column gear selector wont move out of park at times) (def fluid pump failure) etc. I'm always expecting some mechanical failure. I didn't feel that way with the tundra, as it was simple but bullet proof. But I like the cummins exhaust brake and power, better fuel mileage, diesel sound, and all the bells/whistles that come with my Limited Ram.
Thanks for sharing your experience :)
I have this baby in Silver. It’s a great truck.
As old as this is I would choose this over a new F150 or Silverado any day.
Yes, if you want a truck that's going to last a while! Fuel economy is terrible though. F-150 is more frugal. The next gen Tundra will beat them all though!
So would I...
Or now even the new tundra
@@gregkeller80 2022 Tundra is going to be the king of 1/2 ton pickup trucks
Sad I would never pay for a truck with such a plain remote start key combo
I have 2018 Tundra Crew Max Limited and it has no power or braking issues. Plus, I tow a 31ft travel trailer that weighs 7500lbs when loaded.
Sir, this is an American vehicle. Therefore, you will need to purchase a European vehicle at $150,000 plus in order to obtain real world world rather than imitation plastic. My opinion is that this is an extremely well done imitation of burled wood. I love the interior of my 2021 1794 interior. It is very tasteful and in exquisite taste. I have had many compliments from many friends as well as parking attendants.
Nothing wrong with imitation wood, but you actually can get real open-pore wood in similarly priced RAM and Ford trucks.
Toyota Tundra number1
Best truck ever
This is Dream Truck material right here!
I really like your drive-over shot at the beginning of your videos. I don't know of any other car reviews on UA-cam that do that. 🆗🆒✅🏆🙂
Love my old school Tundra.
Hats off to toyota for keeping it old school with the keyfob....for a high price truck
Great truck
Please send me an email with your address. I would like to send you some of my new promo $bills, stickers and magnets as a thank you for being a subscriber for a long time. mikes.car.info@gmail.com
I have a 08 TUNDRA LIMITED ED. MAX CREW CAB WITH AVERYTHING LOOKS ALMOST IDENTICAL.
I do too. And I love it 😀
I have owned 2 tundras in a 12 year span on my 2nd one currently. If people think the new Tundra 2022 is going to reach 300,000 with ease and not much problems there crazy TURBOS ARE A WEAR ITEM!!
Ok, so you replace them. Not a big deal. Every truck has its good and bad. Because something changes doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. I’ve got a ‘23 1794 edition and I love it. If something goes wrong, I’ll fix it and move on.
Time is money, I’ll take my 2019 V-8 anyday!
Es esta una buena camioneta para towing?
1st car demo that I actually noticed a full tank of gas lmao
Great review and soundtrack...what is the name of the instrumentals you used for the video?
Only option I would get is the SR WORK TRUCK PACKAGE. 😊
I recently scored one of these build in 2008 and I love it so much it is lifted and is fascinating that all the features in 2008 are almost the ssme as 2021 except the steering wheel design on 2008 is even sexier believe me .
That truck sure feels fast
It needs a supercharger
Do you think the prices will go down on these when the 2022 comes out?
Hopefully.
They might actually do the opposite and go up if there is a demand for the V8. However I kind of doubt it.
@@toronado455 60% of F150 sales have an EcoBoost engine. Ford proves that TT V6 is here to stay and with their hybrid F150 already out, that percentage will increase much higher.
@@jasonthach44 I agree.
@@jasonthach44 Other reason they might go up is people buying due to perceived or actual reliability of old model versus new. Besides possible reliability, there is no objective reason to be buying this generation of Tundra over competitors. Certainly not because of that paltry 1185 lbs payload.
Got a 2019 1794 mesquite, had to improve the stereo and added fuel bronze wheels. Don’t think I like the push button start on the newer ones.
I appreciate how in depth your videos are. As someone who is looking for my first truck Im wondering if you could help me. Im looking for the most comfortable most refined with full size truck thats semi reliable. I dont care about towing power. I just want leather seats and space. Which brand do you prefer, f150 1500 tundra? I would get a few years used like this, something under 50k
My top picks would be RAM 1500 or a Ford F-150. A Toyota Tundra would be close to the bottom of the list.
That’s a beautiful truck!.. as is mine, 19’ 1794 in smoked mesquite. Im keeping it till the wheels fall off!…the last of the proven V8’s unlike what we have now.. (2022). a ticking time bomb of repair costs the minute the warranty expires. 😢
Thank You Mike
Great video
Mine lost power steering and had to be replaced
nice truck indeed
Under powered is not the word I would use. I have the 5.7 in my Sequoia and it’s plenty of power l!!
If it works for you then that is all that matters :)
weird, my stock 2005 tundra doesn't have road noise or heat. guess quality went down.
👍This is the best channel
Can you do a full review on the Nissan Titan Pro4X
Can’t wait to see the 2022 model. Great video!! Wish Toyota wasn’t so stubborn on tech, that infotainment looks like a cheap eBay aftermarket screen 📺
This is a classic now. The new Tundra will be completely different!
the whole truck looks cheap af
@@holden_fella it’s not tho Toyota holds its value
@@toronado455 new tundra isn’t holding up well turbo issues first model year crap
I just posted a video on my new tundra, Nissan Titan is the best, I’ve had 4 different Nissan Titan, kick myself in the butt for going with the Toyota Tundra 👎
I have both the 2014 and now the 2021 Tundra 1794, that engine noise when you accelerate is the best! Glad Toyota didn’t muffle it! And, yes, the braking is a little weak when you are trying to slow all that weight down from a high speed. But, normal braking is perfect otherwise. Highly recommend the Tundra, but not since the 2022’s came out. Toyota destroyed the Tundra in 2022 with that garbage V6 twin turbo. What were they thinking!?
Would you consider doing an owner’s review of your Tundra in a video?
I wonder if you critique all cars like this
Yes, that is my job as a reviewer :)
You are the first one youtube I heard saying IT Is underpowered
So there are two cases one is you are damn fast 😂😂😂😂😂 or second is they all are slow 😂😂😂😂
cam tower leak?
Those cam tower leaks are not common, but costly if they happen. The big 3 have their expensive major issues too. My ‘17 has been trouble free. Just routine maintenance.
Seems like it needs more power.
boring vehicle compare with ford and dodge and chevy 👌 ...nice work mike👏
Ain’t fun when your Ford is at the dealership after 20k miles 🔥
Those vehicles are weekend only, daily for stupid people
@@hvega8199boring means reliable to this idiot 🤣
Boring but you just turn the key and it goes without problems. My 8 yr old Tundra has been my best vehicle as far as dependability hands down. Cannot justify upgrading for tech reasons.
