Wonderful to “see” you again. You have such a loving and gentle demeanor and it’s calming to watch you. I’m sure that you’re just the best daughter too. I got to go to an ASDA when I was in the UK in November. It’s always fun to see grocery stores in different countries. That’s a great idea to use the tablecloths for tracing a pattern. Look forward to your next video!
Hi Cheryl I am sorry to hear your mum is not well I hope she gets better very soon and it is lovely to see you and thank you for sharing your amazing jersy top from Grainline happy sewing see you again soon on your youtube channel 😊 💕 💕 ❤ love to your mum
Briiliant video Cheryl. that neckband tutorial is fantastic and will help me russle up a few jumpers and I'm intending to try and make use of my massive and wonderful stash year! Wishing your mum a speedy recovery xx
Sending prayers for your Mothers quick and complete healing and strength for you and your family. Love the bottom two make 9 options. That green shirt!!! Wow
It is great to see you back on You Tube but don't worry about being away. We all understand that family are number one and I hope that your mother is soon up and well. I really enjoy your videos and pleased to see you again but will just enjoy as many as you feel that you have time to make. Take care.
So sorry to hear your mum has been so unwell. I do hope she is much better very soon. Such a worrying time for you and your family. I was really interested in your video on neckbands. Thanks for taking the time to show your method of working. Although I have completed a number of cuffs and neckbands using my own over locker, I found it really informative.
I just came across your channel... I hope your mother is healed by now..you did an excellent tutorial... I have knit top patterns older than you..Jean Hardy patterns had a master pattern you traced the size you needed off... I have infants to Godzilla..long sleeves...short sleeves turtlenecks..the list is endless for you basic pattern.. brilliant idea you have for making pattern copies..subscribed today...good luck from US
Happy New Year, hope your Mum is feeling better, I'm sure she ll love her bespoke lounge wear. She ll be the envy of the ward! Lovely to see you on here, but make sure your rest time is just that - we'll all still be here !
I have really missed you. I hope your mother gets well and back home soon. I love all of your makes. What a great idea with the table cloth to use as pattern paper. Welcome back!
Hi from South Texas!! Oh MY! Using that disposable table cloth is FABULOUS!! I'm SO going to do that if I can find it. Most of our disposable table cloths here across the pond have a layer of thin plastic in the middle which is miserable for pins. But I'm going to look for something similar and see if I can find something less expensive than the marked Pellon pattern fabric. 80% of the total neckband in cm... You have NO idea how long I've wondered about that and I've been sewing for years! I love your method for inserting the neckband. I need to do a video on how I do mine. It's very unconventional and I use my boobs. LOL I'm putting your mom in my prayers for her improved health and congratulations on your brother's wedding! I'm so happy I found you!
thanks for your lovely comment 💐 Ha ha, made me chuckle, you must tell me your method, sounds fun.x Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers for my mum. She's not in a good way and still seriously ill in hospital. I'm hopeful for a miracle.x
Lovely to have you back again Cheryl. Hope your mum gets better soon, you really are a busy bee at the moment. I thought your vid was very useful especially about fitting these kneckbands and I feel sure because of this vid my next attempt at this will be much improved. I am also going to look at my favourite patterns with a new perspective. Thank you as always.
Really helpful, thank you. I am returning to sewing after a nearly 40 year break and have never sewn stretch fabrics before. I'm working up the courage to have a go on my sewing machine as I don't have an overlocker. Fingers crossed. Hope your mum is getting better. x
Happy New Year, Cheryl. Sorry to hear your mum's not been well. I hope she is on the mend. You can never have too many tutorials in my opinion. I look forward to the episode on fabrics as I have to get the majority of mine online and any tips will be gratefully received. Xxx
Thanks for taking the time to film such a lovely interesting vlog Cheryl, particularly when you must feel so stretched with your mum being in hospital. Hope she’s back to full health soon 😘😘😘
So glad to see you back. Sorry about your mom's hospital stay. Thoughts and prayers sent your way. Love the cat blow in the dark fabric. I've made a couple of Lindens. After seeing this vlog, I think I'll make some more.
Lovely to see you again Cheryl, you have been missed. However family must come first, I totally know what you are going through as I am struggling to give my lovely 83 year old mum all the care she needs. So Don’t stress we will support your Vlogs as and when you post them, they are so inspiring. Hope your mum is soon well. Take care of yourself too. X
Sorry to hear about your Mum, sincerely hope she being well looked after. I have missed your videos and glad to see how you are and your great pearls of wisdom (table covers, genius idea)for pattern pieces. See you soon, bye
I just found your channel over Christmas with your stocking tutorial, which was very helpful for my daughter and I to sew up gifts for our family. Your directions and tips are so clearly explained which is so appreciated. You are doing a great job, and thank you! I am inspired to try sewing this Grainline sweatshirt pattern next. Seeing the possibilities in different fabrics is great! I wish you and your family well.
Hi Cheryl, good to see you on here again, I hope your mom is doing better. I have the same sleeve issues, very frustrating and the main reason I started sewing my own clothes. It is worth mentioning though, I have found recently that Rab's sizing has changed and I have tried several of their jackets with sleeves that fit. So there, you can at least get outdoor clothing with (hopefully) long enough sleeves.
Loved the video. Thanks. I made a cocoon cardigan with your ocre waffle fabric. Its lovely but now I see your top I wish I'd made that! Oh well, another time. Hope your mum gets better soon x
I missed you Cheryl! Sorry to hear your mother has been so poorly, I understand what a worrying time it is (my mother has had her own health problems) and how stressed and worn out you get! Like you, my favourite T&T pattern is a raglan (Burda 6990), I have made four so far and am cutting out a fifth today! It has FIVE different neckline options and I have done all of them bar one, which is the one I am using today. I have photos and a review of them all on Pattern Review.com (I know you are a member). I even bought a second one, as I wanted two sizes (one for fabrics with less give and another for use with fabrics with a lot of give), that is a fabulous idea about the table cover and will get one or two when I shop there next! All your tops look fabulous and what a great idea to make some for your mother! Thank you for the tutorial on neckband insertions (I always mess them up!) Hopefully, with the help of this I shouldn't mess up again! I hope your mother is fully recovered soon. As always, TFS 👍❤
thank you so much Hazel, sending lots of healing thoughts to you and your Mum too.x I do love a good Burda pattern, I'll have a look at your fave - well done for doing 5, I love remaking a tried and tested pattern. And you've reminded me I must get back onto Pattern Review, it's so useful to read everyone's reviews isn't it? Thanks again fro your kind words, and I'll chat again soon 💐
This stuff matters. Maybe not 'exciting' but it is a vital skill to making such comfy jersey tops. I've just overlock constructed my first top and this video has clarified some tiny hints. An associated issue is how to make sure that the neckline is right for you in the first place, as I've just made a pj top and the necksize is too wide. Thanks so much Cheryl xx
Bless you Cheryl, sounds like you’ve had a traumatic start to the new year. I hope your Mum is soon feeling better xx I’ll look forward to your shower cap tutorial when life is a bit more back to normal.....I use the free ones you get in hotel rooms to cover the muddy wheels on my golf trolley until I get home! It will be lovely to make my own to match my car 😊😂 Take care and I hope life is a bit better for you and your Mum very soon xx
So sorry to hear your mum’s not well Cheryl. It must be so difficult because you live quite a bit away. I hope she gets better soon. Love your lindens, especially the mustard one. I’ve made a dress with the cat fabric, so will need to get that posted. Thanks for the neck and tutorial. Great to have you back. Take care of yourself as you take care of your mum😻
thanks Lynette, bless you. I'm ok, it's just a struggle at the moment. My Mum is still in hospital and the outlook doesn't look too promising, but I'm hopeful. xx💐
I love the Linden too but I would like another with a higher neckline I’m hoping that if I just cut it higher it will work out ok. So glad to have you back, Cheryl
So great to see you again Cheryl, I really hope your Mum will soon be well. Take care of yourself. I am not yet brave enough to use my overlocker on neckbands, will have to try again.
I loved the tops and the neckband was brilliant.I hope your mums better soon and that the lindens will suit her.I think something your daughters made you will make you feel so much more
Lovely Cheryl. I am just sewing my first ever Linden whilst I'm watching this. So sorry about your Mum. God bless her and you and your family. I hope things improve in time for your brothers wedding. Lots of Love. 😘😘
While is lovely to see you, I wish you the very best of precious times with your mum. I agree though, it is a comfort to be able to come back to some familiar creative space when there are emotional and physical challenges to work around. The London looks really good on you, and I too had been considering identifying " my style" in a few of my existing patterns, and to challenge myself to make an attractive wardrobe from a variation of those patterns. However, that linden does look good........and I do love a raglan sleeve!
Hi Cheryl - family comes first of course, but I shall look forward to lots more videos and fabric hauls and hopefully more jersey purchases from you now I have my new overlocker!!! Wishing your mum better 😘
Blessings to your Mother, I wish her well. You and family come first, UA-cam last. All the sweatshirts are lovely. I loved the mustard waffle fabric. 😘
Lovely to see you again Cheryl - wishing your mum a good recovery - you have inspired me to give the Linden a go - and your neckbank tutorial has come in really useful! Looking forward to your next video and your 'stash flash!'. Oh and happy new year! Pen x
Hi Cheryl, so lovely to see you back 💕and I'm so sorry to hear that your Mum has been unwell. I hope things get better for her this year. I love all your lindens.... must get my pattern out again to try it in a different fabric👍. I think you would love the Sew House Seven Tabor sweater. I made the v-neck version with a ribbed jersey and it came out really well👌. Look after yourself Cheryl and give your Mum our best wishes 💝😊😘
Good to see you again. Just purchased the same material your raglan was made from. Got it yesterday. I've just moved house and also purchased a janome 4300QDC (so happy) but have no space to make anything yet (not so happy) but I will soon (happy again). Hope you mum gets well soon. Take care and I will hopefully share what I make.... eventually. ☆
Happy New Year, great neck band instructions. Hope your Mum is soon feeling better. She will love a sweatshirt as a pj top. Really enjoy your videos. 😊
👋 It's great to see you again. I am sorry to hear about your mother and hope things improve for you all soon. Thanks for your tips. On the fabric haul, I would love some ideas for good top patterns for lightweight jersey knits.
So nice to see you back Cheryl I enjoyed seeing your Lindens, I've made a few too, my neck is usually a bit wider than I'd like but will be making more to fine tune them :-) Sorry to hear your mum isn't well. Looking forward to seeing your fabrics x
Hi Cheryl, I’ve only just seen this. Regarding sewing knit neckbands. I don’t use this pinning method anymore I just cut the neckband a bit longer ( to give me something to hold onto) Start about 1.5 inches beyond one of the shoulder seams and sew around stretching the neckband slightly as I go. I stop about 2 inches before the shoulder seam, then sew the ends together. Then finish that last bit. Obviously, I have left the remaining neckband a bit tighter than the underneath. It’s a super quick way of doing them and gives perfect results every time. I will never go back to doing all that faffing about measuring and pinning again xxx
Thank you Cheryl, another great tutorial. I love the raglan sleeves on the Linden too. I hope your mother will be better soon. All the best to you and your family.
I kept checking my subscriptions to see what happened to your videos which I have enjoyed a ton! I have missed them :) I am sorry about your mom. I hope she gets better soon! Nice to see you back !
Happy New Year Cheryl. I brought the Linden when I first started sewing again and it turned out to be an off the shoulder top !! I have since learnt that I have narrow shoulders so will have to revisit it this Autumn. Hope mum is better soon. XX
Quiltygal thank you so much 💐 Ha, yes it’s a funny pattern and seems to vary depending on fabric and stretch I think. Might be easier seeing the Frankie tee (if you have it) to save you altering the Linden?
@@StitchyBeeYes I have made two Frankie's and I do like the fit of that one but I will give the Linden another go I have learnt a lot since I made that first one.
Take care of yourself ! Caring for mom is primary 😉 A wedding too- enjoy. Lots to juggle with family, business, orders, sewing and sleeping ! My best to all of you.
Love all your Lindin looks. I do the same thing with 2 of my favourite patterns, including adjusting the arms to make bat wing sleeves and a cowl neck. I have purchased brown wrapping paper to trace out my patterns and the new variations I have made for sleeves and neck finishes. I like your idea with the table cloths - I am sure I can find something similar in our dollar store here in Canada. I will have a look. Hope you Mom feels better soon and nice to see you back on You Tube.
This is a fantastic video! Can you make more videos like this please? I would have never bought the pattern by looking at the website photos, but you've really showed me how I can make it work for me!
So sorry you have had such a tough time with your Mum being unwell and no doubt you have had to keep the shop running. I hope 2019 will be better and your Mum will be up and about for your brother’s wedding. I got married in February and it was so cold everyone in the photos looked blue! Your Lindens are all so different that you wouldn’t know they are the same pattern. I love that waffle fabric - perhaps you will get it in again? Ochre is not a colour I can wear but the pink one certainly is.
So nice to see you back -Happy New Year Cheryl :) and a speedy recovery for your mum, congrats to your brother's upcoming nuptials :) Thank you for that great tutorial - I haven't made up the Linden yet which I know is so crazy. I've had this pattern for quite some time but just haven't got around to it. I love all my Grainline Studio patterns so I'm sure I'll love this one too. You've inspired me to get that pattern out definitely for 2019 :) Another great way to preserve tissue patterns is to apply inexpensive (on sale) fusible interfacing and iron it on the back of it. It works great :)
Happy New Year Cheryl. I hope your Mother gets better soon. A lovely collection of Linden’s. I’ve made a hack with a high low hem and lengthened it. Do you lengthen yours as they look a good length. Mines also quite big. I opted for size 10 but not sure if these are American sizes? I’m wary of sewing with pins on my overlocker so only use it for finishing at mo otherwise everything would need tacking😆
Ruth Lanwarne thank you Ruth 💖 I don’t think I did lengthen mine, just the sleeves. I sewed a 12 I think which is probably U.S sizing as you say. It’s not massive though, just perfect 👌🏻
Wonderful to “see” you again. You have such a loving and gentle demeanor and it’s calming to watch you. I’m sure that you’re just the best daughter too. I got to go to an ASDA when I was in the UK in November. It’s always fun to see grocery stores in different countries. That’s a great idea to use the tablecloths for tracing a pattern. thank you so much 💐
Blessings to your Mother, I wish her well. You and family come first, UA-cam last. All the sweatshirts are lovely. I loved the mustard waffle fabric. 😘
Constance R Garcia thank you Constance 💐
Lovely to see you, hope your mum is better soon x
Sue Lyall thank you Sue 💐
Lovely to see you again Cheryl - wishing your mum a good recovery - you have inspired me to give the Linden a go - and your neckbank tutorial has come in really useful! Looking forward to your next video and your 'stash flash!'. Oh and happy new year! Pen x
penelope_pins thank you so much 💐💖 Ha ha, I LOVE that phrase “stash flash” 😁😁xx
Hi Cheryl, so lovely to see you back 💕and I'm so sorry to hear that your Mum has been unwell. I hope things get better for her this year. I love all your lindens.... must get my pattern out again to try it in a different fabric👍. I think you would love the Sew House Seven Tabor sweater. I made the v-neck version with a ribbed jersey and it came out really well👌. Look after yourself Cheryl and give your Mum our best wishes 💝😊😘
Sally Dingle thank you so much Sally 💖 Ooh I’ll check out the Tabor sweater - needs must, it’s so cold isn’t it? X
All the best to your poor mum. So hard for you. Great video as usual x
thank you so much 💐
Glad to see you again! God Bless with your mom, and I’ll check out IG now😊. Looking forward to seeing what you picked for your brothers wedding.
Janice K thanks Janice 💐😊
Good to see you again. Just purchased the same material your raglan was made from. Got it yesterday. I've just moved house and also purchased a janome 4300QDC (so happy) but have no space to make anything yet (not so happy) but I will soon (happy again). Hope you mum gets well soon. Take care and I will hopefully share what I make.... eventually. ☆
Kate Sterling thanks Kate, enjoy creating a little sewing space for you 💐
Happy New Year, great neck band instructions. Hope your Mum is soon feeling better. She will love a sweatshirt as a pj top. Really enjoy your videos. 😊
Helena Wagstaff thank you so much Helena 💐
Good to see you back Cheryl. Lovely Lindens. I have the cat fabric. Its really for two little people gifts but now I'm not so sure...
deb s thank you so much 💖 The cat fabric is super soft Debs 💖
I can relate to your personal experiences ... family is everything.
👋 It's great to see you again. I am sorry to hear about your mother and hope things improve for you all soon. Thanks for your tips. On the fabric haul, I would love some ideas for good top patterns for lightweight jersey knits.
Eileen Rafferty thanks Eileen 💐 Will add pattern suggestions to my haul vid 👍🏻
Eileen Rafferty I love the slim fit raglan by patterns4pirates. I've made 5 of them!
So nice to see you back Cheryl I enjoyed seeing your Lindens, I've made a few too, my neck is usually a bit wider than I'd like but will be making more to fine tune them :-) Sorry to hear your mum isn't well. Looking forward to seeing your fabrics x
Gaynor Turner thank you Gaynor 💐
Hi Cheryl, I’ve only just seen this.
Regarding sewing knit neckbands.
I don’t use this pinning method anymore
I just cut the neckband a bit longer ( to give me something to hold onto)
Start about 1.5 inches beyond one of the shoulder seams and sew around stretching the neckband slightly as I go.
I stop about 2 inches before the shoulder seam, then sew the ends together. Then finish that last bit. Obviously, I have left the remaining neckband a bit tighter than the underneath.
It’s a super quick way of doing them and gives perfect results every time.
I will never go back to doing all that faffing about measuring and pinning again xxx
that's a great idea 😊 Thanks again.x
Thank you Cheryl, another great tutorial. I love the raglan sleeves on the Linden too. I hope your mother will be better soon. All the best to you and your family.
Jill M thank you Jill 💐
I kept checking my subscriptions to see what happened to your videos which I have enjoyed a ton! I have missed them :) I am sorry about your mom. I hope she gets better soon! Nice to see you back !
Lynda Hargis thanks Lynda 💐
My best to all of you.
thanks Anne, my brain is frazzled, but sewing is keeping me sane.xx 💐
Stitchy Bee sewing keeping you sane is excellent! It is focusing and wonderful for the brain to help with all the extra going on! 😊
I was so happy to see your video pop up! I’ve missed you! Sending love and healing vibes to you and your mom!! 😘
Deana Ward thank you Deana 💐💖
Love all your Lindin looks. I do the same thing with 2 of my favourite patterns, including adjusting the arms to make bat wing sleeves and a cowl neck. I have purchased brown wrapping paper to trace out my patterns and the new variations I have made for sleeves and neck finishes. I like your idea with the table cloths - I am sure I can find something similar in our dollar store here in Canada. I will have a look. Hope you Mom feels better soon and nice to see you back on You Tube.
Seaside Mom thank you so much 💐 Lovely idea about bat wings and neck variations too 👍🏻
Thank you for this! I’ve been eyeing up this pattern for a long time since everyone seems to have it!
Hannah it’s a great pattern Hannah👍🏻💐
Fab video wishing your mum better xx
Simone Greene thank you Simone 💐
This is a fantastic video! Can you make more videos like this please? I would have never bought the pattern by looking at the website photos, but you've really showed me how I can make it work for me!
Beverly Lee aww, thank you Beverley, and here’s me thinking this video might not be imaginative enough. Appreciate your support 💖💐
Happy New Year Cheryl, I love the Linden sweatshirt too. Sorry to hear about your mum.
Julia Droy thanks Julia 💐
So sorry you have had such a tough time with your Mum being unwell and no doubt you have had to keep the shop running. I hope 2019 will be better and your Mum will be up and about for your brother’s wedding. I got married in February and it was so cold everyone in the photos looked blue!
Your Lindens are all so different that you wouldn’t know they are the same pattern. I love that waffle fabric - perhaps you will get it in again? Ochre is not a colour I can wear but the pink one certainly is.
Jenny Larking thank you Jenny, yes I’ll definitely try to restock all colours of the waffle, it’s a fabulous fabric 💐
Nice to see you!
Karin Rerertluk thanks Karin 💐💖
Great video. Loved seeing all the lindens and fabric options! 👍
Hello, beautiful fabrics. Could you please let me know what pattern this is?
thanks Marian, it's the Linden Sweatshirt from Grainline Studios. The link is in my description.
family comes first,thank you
thanks Steve
Love your tutorial!
Lise Gamache thanks Lise 💐
Great makes and helpful tips as always! Wishing your Mom's health (and your stress level) improve quickly :)
sewgatormomm thank you so much 💖
Very nice and helpful. Thank you
thanks Connie 💐
Kathleen Meadows thank you so much Kathleen, it’s good to be back. Great tip too, thank you 💐💖
Happy New Year lovely lady!!! Did u sew the Sapporo coat then? Love to you your mum n all the family! Xxx
Janet Ford thanks Janet, I’m sewing it today! Xx I’ve put it off for so long 😂 Will do a full review next video 👍🏻👍🏻
I appreciate the tutorial.
thank you so much 💐
So sorry to hear about your mom. How is she doing? You poor girl. Sending you hugs & prayers. I hope she makes a full recovery.
Dianna A thank you so much. She sadly passed away last month 🌷
oh I am so sorry about your mom Cheryl. Hope she will be better soon . We have missed you x
Jill Tarr thanks Jill. Xx
Hi, hope you mum is well soon and that your business goes well. 😊
jolynn White thank you Jolynn 💐
Praying for you and your loved ones.
thank you Dora, it's much appreciated 💐.x
Hi Sitchy Bee. Are you still making UA-cam videos? Or have I just been missing your current stuff. I love your videos!
Hi Sonya, thank you for your kind words 😊 I’ll be back soon! X
Sorry to hear your mother is unwell. Family is always first. Not to worry about UA-cam world.
Monika Behr thank you Monika 💐
Hope your Mother gets better. Remember to take care of yourself too.
thank you Francine 💐
