The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

The rascals, just one of the greatest groups, they rocked the place, before they became famous, they were a house band in Greenwood Lake New York used to go see them six days a week. They had such a full rocking sound, and they all were very talented. I love the rascals music and still do.
I'm 56 and these guys kill it! I love the way that dude dances.
Eddie could dance. That's for sure.
@@michaeljunod8610 I love it. My siblings are older and turned me onto Rock-n-Roll, Motown, The Blues etc. , but I never saw footage of the Rascals and Eddie definitely can dance. I added a bunch of tunes on my Spotify and this song was one of them.
@@BJH4277 I replied! Thanks
It's 2023, I'm 64, and still rocking n' rolling!
Thanks for the memories!!
63 here, a young child in the Rascals heyday but loving every minute of this bands work.
75 here...remember smokey's version first
Dino showing you how it's done!!!!!!
I wonder how many Excedrin's poor Ed had to take that evening. The guys really lit up that stage!
It was a weekly occurrence and Ed kept those aspirin companies in good business! 😂
Dino killing those drums, whole band ROCKIN!!!!
They understood the assignment❣️🥰🥰🥰
Criminally under-rated.
What an extremely talented act, The Rascsls!!!!
One of the greatest blue eyed rockin soul band of the 60's with One of the greatest drummers to ever pick up some sticks, ladies and gentlemen - Dino Danelli! Rock On ''The Rascals'' !!!
Dinos beat at the intro of Love Lights joined by eddies voice and Felix clapping behind the Hammond is all you need for a great pick-me-up!!!
Rascals were the best. Our Beatles. Bless them and the joy they gave us ❤
Such a talented band. And a kick sounding drummer. What a great 60,s band.
This high energy performance was filmed 'live' on Ed Sullivan. The James Brown foot moves of Eddie Brigati and Gene Cornish, just added to Dino's brilliant jazzy drum fills. 'Old school' without the digitized voice enhancement crap, tormenting our ears today.
They had the best drummer, Dino Danelli! He died last December, RIP.
RIP Dino. 🙏
Quite simply, fantastic!
How cool and great is Dino!!!!
Dino had a significant obituary in both the London Times and the New York Times. This makes me think he wasn't really underrated by people in the music industry except those people who like to make up lists. Every time I see a list of "The Greatest X of All Time" my first reaction is "How quickly they forget."
Every song's good by this band
A great group to watch and listen to. Real rock, Dino and Keith my favorite drummers. Thanks for sharing.
Dino, best drummer ever.
The Rascals really cornered the market on energy and excitement when they played. Dino would often play a fraction of a beat ahead of everybody else, and absolutely pushed the band all over the stage with his dynamics. He and Felix would compete to see who could blow the doors off the venue. There were only a few, mostly big bands, that used that kind of up-tempo to drive the music. Dino learned from the best. Love it that technology has captured some of that magic.
Great medley of two classics - Mickey's Monkey (Miracles) and Turn On Your Love Light (Bobby Blue Bland). This is on their second album "Collections"
Well done for using Google... I'm surprised you didn't credit your family members (Pam & Jim) for exposing you to their music... I knew you were never legit. You had to rely on their music (60s-70s). I've seen your post.
You relied on big sister Pam on her Marvin Gaye records (What's Going On and Let's Get It On) hahahaha. I knew it all along... 1966
Love love love the young rascals i saw them live in the laste 60's something i will never forget
Calling your self " The Young Rascals " when you're not even close to being young is f'n hilarious. There is no denying they did put on a show. Boy those were the days. ❤❤❤❤❤
The Rascals, aka Blue Eyed Soul, got their major start in 1965 at a Long Island floating disco The Barge.
They had a huge following. LI, Queens, NYC.
I went to college in the Midwest. The rascals were virtually unknown in that area in 1966. My Rascal album rocked the dorm.
Thank you! Michael
Great vibe. Boys were on top of the energy level
That was groovy!! I was 4 when this aired, but I used to do The Monkey all the time! Those Young Rascals were getting the crowd all riled up! 😅 I don't know their names, but the guy playing tambourine had the moves! 🙌💜
Eddie Brigati
@@recordguy4321 Thanks! ✌️
Eddie Brigati.
Beautiful 🎉
Tambourines were everywhere in the 60s and 70s
Essential part of a ‘60’s lead singer.
When The Rascals were inducted into the RRHOF, Stevie Van Zandt said that with all due respect to his drummer friends, Dino was "the greatest rock drummer that ever is."
Outstanding always❤❤❤❤
"Mickey's Monkey" is a 1963 song recorded by the R&B group the Miracles on Motown Records' Tamla label. It was written and produced by Motown's main songwriting team of Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier, and Eddie Holland, who later went on to write two more Miracles hit singles, the Top 40 "I Gotta Dance to Keep From Crying", and the Top 20 "(Come 'Round Here) I'm The One You Need". This was an unusual writing situation for the Miracles, as most of their songs were composed by the group members themselves.
❤ Loved The Young Rascal’s and Their Wonderful Song !!!They were FABULOUS !!! I was 15 years Old and ❤ loved Dancing to Their Music , They really had Great Rythum !!! 😊
What an exciting performance ❤❤❤👏👏👏👏👏
I Love The Young Rascals❤
It's Groovy!❤
Thanks For Sharing This ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
What incredible energy
Dino was so far ahead of the drummers in the day. Drove the band like no other could. Technique and showmanship. Out a sight! Yet he’s never mentioned. People always go with the likes of Bonham, Baker, Peart.
Mickey's Money is a great Smoey Robinson song. The Rascals appreciated rand b, as evidenced by their version.
WOW!
That energy!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😎😉
Rock n roll.
Dino Danelli, some ways in terms of looks, visual approach, his attack ,brings to my mind Keith Moon if you know what I mean
FAB :)
Dino!
Happy music 🎶 wasn’t allowed to listen at home but in my girlfriends car it was boss❤❤❤of course ironing my hair straight on an ironing board was boss too😂
❤ cute guys❤
Mother's Finest used to do a good cover of Mickey's Monkey, for those that can remember them from the 70' s
Did someone spill cooking oil all over the floor before the band's performance? The guitarist and tambourine player nearly dislocated their hips
Dino had the drum part down pat.
Peace from California Silver Strand Beach The Volcano Posse 🖋️
Come on Felix n Eddie enough already…life n time is too short…
So go home already Phil and quit listening!!
@@rockinrobb4350 do you know what my comment meant?
W And we're going to do other things, huh.
💃🕺🕺💃🎵🎼🎶👍
The Rascals would destroy “any” band in toda’ys music scene.
Ed was a stick, but brought the best on his show. Only time I saw ed loosen up was when he was on Johnny Carson and Johnny did his take on ed. Hilarious.
Sounds like Felix came in on the vocals by mistake a bar too early
Yea Gene explains that in his book.....
A complete train wreck. But, fantastic.
Was Ed playing the bass guitar?
The guy with the tamborine, is he the monkey? Which one is Mickey?
Love light before e Dead?
Van Morrison may have recorded it before the Rascals and definitely before the dead
The cameraman must’ve thought it very creative to do close up, one second clips. Annoying.
This song is not so great
Maybe not. But the Rascals made sure it was great 👍 🎶🎵❤️
