This song is kind of like a prayer. It’s a kid lying in bed at night thinking about his father who he never knew and who has already died. And he’s trying to speak to him. It’s so raw and honest and from such a deep place. It’s like he’s singing for everyone who has ever lost a parent. There is only one Eddie Vedder and we get to be on the planet at the same time as him. I am grateful for that.
Amen.
Nah its about escaping this yooish nightmare system
my exact story lol millions of us out there
I miss those days. Seeing great music, no stupid cell phones, everybody just totally in the moment.
I had just lost my dad in May off of 92, I was lost, struggling.
A friend brought this cd and put it in my 5 disc changer. I hated Evenflow and Jeremy. I was cleaning my house and this song came on and stopped me dead in my tracks. Eddie was singing to me and only me.
I’ve been hooked for over 30 years now. To me there has never not will ever be a better band.
Young Eddie's voice was immense....never missed a beat
My fave version..sends goosebumps down my spine. It's hypnotic. It makes me want to cry it's so good
A very important song. ❤
Farkin beautiful mate...a classic right there man
Legendary
🖤
Eddie was very Morrison-dsque, initially. Luckily for us, he lived past 27. What a time to be a teen, in the early 90s. Eddie, Chris, Kurt, Layne, Weiland...gen y and Z have shit for music.
Yes more PJ!
Hello man . Watched some of your reactions of Soundgarden too. Glad to find more people liking this kind of music. This is such a poethry goin on. Them people dont do this kind of music today. Deep and meaningfull, beautifull. And is such a divine song. For the father and all. You think i can impress some girl with stuff like this ?:) (joking ofc :). Welcome to the brotherhood. Keep it up with the great music friend!
Thank You Mace for suggesting this and thank you for sharing this awesome video Rory!! I love my Pearl Jam!! 😊💓🤘✌️
Love this song one of those in one way or another anyone could relate to the lyrics. Of course I’m a fan but I’ve been to a LOT of concerts by different artists/bands….. and those were a great time but I was fortunate to see PJ in the mid 90s to early 2000s. 3 times different states and 2 out of 3 were so awesome I can’t think of another band that compares except Aerosmith one time nailed there concert when Pump came out….that I went to and said that was better than the album. I’m talking my experience with live performance. The one I didn’t enjoy as much we were there early Ed came out and nailed nailed a song. then they played for little over 2 hrs if I’m remembering right…..we were a little lit so they finished up and we walked out of the venue got about 3 hundred yards from the gate almost to the car and heard the roar. His deep voice saying play for a while longer? Uuuugggghhhh!!!! Forehead slap! That’s the only concert I didn’t enjoy as much. I had too many riding with me, I should’ve threw them the keys and said see ya when I see ya. Ok last time I write a letter of nostalgia in your comment section. Liked
Great version!
“Ten” is a perfect album!
Ten is a perfect 10. Lol
Get it? See Ten is the name of the album. And 10 is perfection on a scale of 1-10. So I used it in a play on words type thing. Ten being 10. Lol.
@@vedder7373Enough of the science-talk, just tell us how the joke works!!!
@@rafaellewis1263 Of course! See a play on words is to use words that sound similar or that have several different meanings especially in a clever or funny way. In other words a humorous way of using a word or phrase so that more than one meaning is suggested. Like a pun.
Mother telling him as early teen that his dad was his step father and that his real father had just died. Sad ❤
This is an amazing recording of an amazing song. But, you may also want to see another great version of the same song, 25 years later, at Wrigley Field in 2017. It’s an older Eddie Vedder with a deeper, more mature voice, but it’s just as beautiful. It’s my favorite live performance of Release. ua-cam.com/video/Y2vwLBkA4vg/v-deo.html
Looking forward to more Pearl Jam!
Good tunes dude..no fluff and puff like most folks on here...............just kool shit.I dig it.....................If U want to hear kool ol shit, try U2 ......War, the album.......fuckin Larry Mullen Jr.
Best ever .
Pearl Jam and U2 and 311 ruled the 90's
and Soundgarden
Play this at my death
Eddie Vedder has a lot of great covers that I think you would like, based on other artists you listen to.
He covered You've Got To Hide Your Love Away for the movie I Am Sam. ua-cam.com/video/MKdQfj6API0/v-deo.html
He did an amazing cover of Master's of War at a birthday tribute for Bob Dylan. ua-cam.com/video/dwa2jK0xglk/v-deo.html
And he sang with The Doors when they were inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. ua-cam.com/video/LnoZQujhp1k/v-deo.html
In fact, the members of The Doors said they would only perform if he sang with them.
@@sharoncarlisle9453All awesome suggestions!! Eddie singing with The Doors was incredible!! Masters Of War is sooo powerful!! I hope Rory reacts to all of them. 😊💓🤘✌️
Pearl Jam covering Love Reign o'er Me and The Real Me from VH1 Rock Honors Show.
@@FeelItRising another awesome suggestion!! Eddie and the band did an incredible job covering The Who, excellent suggestion!! I absolutely Pearl Jam, my favorite band on this planet 😊💓🤘✌️
@@FeelItRising Oh yeah I forgot about that one. It was spectacular!
