Christine’s organ gives the song a soulful and emotional base that doesn’t grab attention, but IMHO really adds beauty. I wouldn’t like the song as much without her contribution.

I think everyone contributes so well in this band. Everyone gives each other space and seems to work together very well. I haven't noticed her organ as much but I will listen for it more. Thank you for watching!

My eyes lit up when I saw this is coming! My second favorite performance of Lindsey's, a very close second to his performance of Big Love (in later years from this one). If you were blown away by this, you won't believe that one. It's on Lindsey's channel live from Saban Theater in 2011 in case you feel like stumbling across it. :)
A most underrated guitarist all things considered. I've heard he's made his fingers bleed from how hard he plays. After seeing him a few times, especially on Big Love, I can see why. I don't think he's ever used a plectrum.
    Thanks Richard and Lee! :)

This performance personifies our concert experiences from the late 60's and 70's. When some of us complain about the music of today in terms of the performers can't play the instruments, write their own music or deliver vocally live, this is why. We all experienced live, brillantly perfected musical performances created by the artists we were watching, for decades. And then suddenly it all disappeared. In its place we got sampling, twerking, auto tune, 50 costume changes and fireworks. All in an effort to disguise the lack of real talent on stage. The music itself became unimportant, a background player, a step child. We wanted it back on center stage but it never returned. The encore was not to be played, the songs are now silent.

We live in a digital wasteland full of samples and pieces of much better material. The stuff coming out these days are not pushing the boundaries like even the MAINSTREAM music did back then, let alone the real culture. We should be ashamed of what we let music become. A dress to wear when you want attention or money. Not for the art. Not even for the immortality. Just for the instant gratification. Social media did its job. It's ruined everything even more lol tik tok and Twitter... it's all just data harvesting sold to the highest bidder and we (me included) fed it our ENTIRE lives. No wonder AI is so advanced... the internet is literally the human experience in an artifical shell now. If you fed that into an actual artificial intelligence it would know everything about everyone. That's why DARPA And the navy ---- *communications lost*

@@L33Reacts I miss the days of endless communication, nothing left unsaid, face to face explanations and acceptance. A combination of the internet, covid and political polarization has resulted in the human experience becoming its own artificial shell. We all need to reconnect, and soon. 😘

I didn't see them until 1980. By then their show was a huge production. I love this more, early on with everything so raw and nobody dressing or acting like superstars. Just pure rock music from the heart. Stevie seems so much more real here. Rock on bro.

I go back and forth between this one and The Dance version. Right now, I like this one better, but that's probably because I just watched it. Seeing them this young and accomplished is a thrill. I was too young to go see them in 1976. I didn't see them live until 1982, although they were still amazing.

The Boston one is undeniably the best ever and it's not even remotely close. This one is just nice, Boston is absurd.......The Dance one had a nice package to it with the beauty of the stage set up, but Boston....it's longer, and the guitar he had on that one, is simply better!! To each their own, but I just don't think there's even a discussion to be had, it's Boston and then whatever else after that.....

From their first album with Stevie and Lindsey in the band. Not many people realize that this LP had as many great songs as the famous RUMOURS album. It begins with the upbeat MONDAY MORNING and concludes with this haunting track Lindsey wrote while he and Stevie were still a performing duo. Everything in between is worthy too.

    • @lauraallen55

To think that Monday Morning, I'm So Afraid, Rhiannon & Landslide from that album had already been written arranged and mostly recorded for their 2nd Buckingham Nicks album (along with several others that wound up on FM and Nicks albums) but they could not get another record contract - which is why they joined FM.

Christine Perfect was in a band called Chicken Shack. She was a usually uncredited guest pianist on the occasional song starting with the 2nd album. She married bassist John McVie and officially joined the band for the fifth album, Future Games in 1971.

L33- Hard Rock is NOT metal. Hard Rock has much greatness and a bit of dross; Metal has reversed the proportions... much dross with a couple nuggets (Unleash the Archers and Voivod from my country- Canada). The legendary Christine Perfect (you know her by her married name, McVie) would NOT EVER be a part of Metal. Peace, love and bellbottoms.

Being 16 in the mid 70s was an amazing time to be a rock music fan as all of this was new . The soap opera going on behind the scenes with this band helped the passion in the music . We were weaned on Classic rock both soft & hard -- Rock guitar sound check out The Godmother of Rock & Roll Sister Rosetta Tharpe , then Chuck Berry then the 60s & 70s ,,,

From the concert footage I've seen it's pretty clear Lindsey took this song pretty seriously. Apparently he's referring to struggling with bi-polar disorder.
He's definitely one of my favorite guitarists. He rarely put himself forward in the mix on recordings and sometimes you have to listen close. His rhythm playing is top notch though. It's tasteful and complex. Modern day Fleetwood Mac uses two guitarists to replace him.

We had Jane's Addiction for 1989's Spring fling. I think it was ten bucks for non-students. Probably five bucks back in '76.

I saw Fleetwood Mac on the Tusk tour at Wembley Arena in London in 1980 when I was just leaving art college aged 19. This song was the highlight with Lindsey Buckingham and John McVie physically leaning into each other with guitar and bass rumbling. They absolutely kicked ass. Still the greatest gig I ever went to and that's saying a lot as I look back at 63.

I’m a massive fan of Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham and Fleetwood Mac. While Rumours is always considered their best album, I disagree - in my mind, as excellent as Rumours is, Peter Green's debut album, Mystery To Me, Tusk and Say You Will all outshine it and on their 1975 “White Album” they are at their best.

Great video; there is another LB music journey: Not That Funny. There is a video on the Internet from the Mirage tour in 1982.
Both songs in good quality are also on the official live album 1980 of the Tusk tour. But you have to listen to the song with fun and without much analysis, it's really a psycho trip, half therapy. After Afraid That Fun.

The album track from -75 self titled album is good but it's the weakest version - recorded in too high a key and truncated to about 4 minutes for the album from an original 7min+. Live it just got longer and better. The 1980 track from Cleveland on the 1980 Live album is about 8 minutes and arguably the best. Alas no video. There are great video live versions from their 1982, 1997 and 2003-4 tours on line and others from his solo tours.

It's a shame such a great band that survived for decades ended up falling apart over, I think, personalities and the direction some wanted the music to go to and others didn't. Thank goodness we have their music, from the beginning to the end, with us always.

Usually when someone shows "I'm So Afraid" Live video it's from their "The Dance" concert, so I was surprised that there was a live version from 1976 out there. Both video's show the intensity Lindsey brings to this song. I remember in 1976 that Fleetwood Mac were one of the opening bands in a summer concert stadium tour with The Eagles. Boz Scaggs was the other opener. I was a teenager and wanted to go but didn't have the money. 😒 Happy to see young people like yourself enjoying music I grew up on. 😎
