Michael Mann does a good job of capturing the peripheral energy that surrounds L.A. with its everyday people of different backgrounds. Most movies about Southern California are filtered thru the eyes of fantasy and celebrity-driven culture.
yeah the soundtrack itself is very unique on it's own. sometimes it plays electronica to match the noir feel, so sometimes it plays punk rock or orchestra to make atmosphere. it's very diversified and randomized, something you don't see much in movies nowadays
I got the soundtrack for this after the film come out and I can't tell you how many times I listened to this opening track "Briefcase" by Tom Rothrock.

Tom Cruise was phenomenal in this movie. The first moment his character is shown on screen its already clear that he has ice in his veins. His facial expression and body langauge show (to me) that he only gives a shit about himself

The pacing also in this movie is pretty much unparalleled, especially with the use of soundtrack

Why haven’t we gotten a movie with Jason Statham and Tom Cruise together. Jason Statham better Cameo in Mission Impossible one day.
That was the Transporter.
Poor Statham. Just 30sec in a movie
He's so cool that's all he needs
