Was gonna say that. I play mostly metal so I want that deep sound, onix were my go too. But that calftone had that very classic sound that works with so many different styles and just fit better.
Anderson paak is all about that old school vibe. Even if his music ain't your style, it's totally undeniable dude has an unreal amount of musical ability.
I didn't know Anderson .Paak, but he was in GTA V in the Dr. Dre DLC update. They do a little thing in Dre's studio and Anderson jumps on a kit and says something like "Dre, you are FAR too rich to have a drum kit THIS shitty." Gave me a belly laugh gaffaw LOL! 😹

I love that drum with the calftone! And I know you made a video a long while back about dry cymbals, but I'd love to get a revisit of that concept with a full scale drumkit. Something where the end result sounds like you beating the shit out of drums and having them sound like tree logs would be immensely hilarious to me, although perhaps not quite worth the effort,,
I don't watch the stream, I'm not a musician and I don't have a particular interest in percussion, but your enthusiasm and infectious laughter has me rewatching every video you release 3-4 times. Keep doing what you are doing "The Drum Thing" bc whatever it is, it works for you.

That drum is just absolutely amazing. And I'm gonna agree, the heavyweight sounds great, but the calftone is how that drum is *supposed* to sound. And, AND! Are we ever gonna get a video on that weird as heck yellow drum set with the horns?!
Such a groovy drum! I now need a Maple Classic. Then you put on the Calftone and out loud I said "OH MY!" and immediately realized they need to be on my Acrolite and Tempro. I'm so digging your videos!!
You have such a bad ass collection of cool drum gear. That snare is freaking amazing, I agree you had to pre order this drum. It’s too fabulous not to have in your collection
Dude, Ludwig, a whole kit that looks like this would be a really cool vibe. I like overly eclectic old styles. I dig gaudy stuff sometimes. I don't know how to describe it other than I think Pagan Min's suit from Far Cry 4 was fantastic and the interior decoration was cool
WOW, that calftone head is a delightful sound. I'm gonna throw one of those on the next time I track drums. God knows my buddy's basement kit could probably use new heads anyway.
That's an awesome sounding snare. I love the cast hoops and all of the hardware on it, too. The heavyweight head sounded really good, but the calftone sounds more "organic". As for drumsticks, I'm weird because I actually prefer the nylon tips on the cymbals. They give more of a "ting" than a "ping", and I like that sound when playing through quality speakers with ribbon or AMT tweeters. :D
I love seeing poeple - especially Wade - geeking out over gear. That calftone did sound best and reminded me when my band played a gig and were told the drums had vintage hides on them. Now us playing punkabilly, it took like 6-7 hits on the floor tom during our intro and they were gon' mate!
i love hybrid drum head setups. evans hydraulic on my snare batter side and remo ambassadors on the toms with an acquarian super kick on the bass. heaven.
I have the EC Reverse Dot on the same exact Anderson Paak snare along with PureSound Blasters, tuned to that CCM range. It’s my worship pastor and FOH’s favorite snare at church 😂

i actually liked the G1 head the most in terms of tone. but i prefer open, unmuted drum sounds these days haha. and i always loved a crispy snare drum in comparison to a warmer, deeper sounding tone.
As much as I love the crack of the heavyweight, the calftone just _sounds_ how that drum _looks_
Was gonna say that. I play mostly metal so I want that deep sound, onix were my go too. But that calftone had that very classic sound that works with so many different styles and just fit better.
