Worstly the AI that was able to take advantage of everything he created and almost start a nuclear war. He's not skullface, but the world woulda been much better off if he hadn't done most of the things he did.
Its also a reference to Solid Snake's codec call about how he can't tip toe (due to the controller's limitations) and using a mono TV. Both codecs iirc say that you'll have to trust your instincts as a gamer.

Honestly, this style of comedy reminds me of red vs blue. Same kind of super serious and professional stuff but with immature attitude that isnt expected of it.
I feel like this is the most "real" snake of them all, by real I mean more human, emotional, funny and at times confused/conflicted. Makes sense because he's pure human, not a product of a science experiment like Liquid, Solid and Solidus or even Venom Snake who was initially a human but went through severe mental and physical alteration.
I think it's because John is still very innocent. By the time he has been Big Boss for a while, in MGS Peace Walker, we see him being entirely disillusioned. And that mental state was presumably the template that had been used for Les Enfants Terribles because Metal Gear Solid 1 shows Solid Snake, who's already a broken war hero after defeating both Big Bosses in Outer Heaven and Zanzibar, learns how to become idealistic again. It's MGS3's Snake's story in reverse.
Would've been wholesome if Big Boss did that just before cutting his life support in MGS4. "I'm taking it upon myself to send Zero back to nothing. But first... tea and scones."

Hey, Big Boss had humor and the medic (Venom Snake) didn't.
I feel like this is the most "real" snake of them all, by real I mean more human, emotional, funny and at times confused/conflicted.
Makes sense because he's pure human, not a product of a science experiment like Liquid, Solid and Solidus or even Venom Snake who was initially a human but went through severe mental and physical alteration.

I think it's because John is still very innocent. By the time he has been Big Boss for a while, in MGS Peace Walker, we see him being entirely disillusioned. And that mental state was presumably the template that had been used for Les Enfants Terribles because Metal Gear Solid 1 shows Solid Snake, who's already a broken war hero after defeating both Big Bosses in Outer Heaven and Zanzibar, learns how to become idealistic again. It's MGS3's Snake's story in reverse.

Fulton recovery is a real thing, and also appears in the 007 film "Thunderball" from 1965. Kojima is a big fan of James Bond, so that is probably where he got idea to use it in the MG series from.

Just being told he would be better suited to a revolver made him switch weapons, then being told engravings and only have a weapon with 6 shots wont help and next time they meet, ocelot carried two standard looking revolvers. And then at the end with him wanting to fight snake before he left the mission.
