    Followed the directions after watching your video. Went to Radio Shack and purchased (3) capacitors @ $1.99 a piece. Removed the back and the circuit board as described. Removed the 3 capacitors using a soldering iron. Placed the 3 capacitors back in place carefully soldering them. Put it all back together. Plugged it in and Mammamia.... beautiful picture again! TV sat in my basement for many years until the other day I decided to bring it up consult youtube. Very happy! Thanks for your submission>

    Hi, I just want to say THANK YOU very much, I have 26MF337B and it stopped working, I found your video and followed your instructions, my TV now works just fine! I bought the capacitors on EBAY since Radio Shack has gone way of the Dodo bird. Thanks again...

    Thanks Amp Lab! This fix worked on my slightly larger Magnavox LCD set. I learned a lot about TV capacitors too. Ultimately, I needed to locate a TV repair shop for the correct capacitors as both Radio Shack and Fry's Electronics did not carry them. But the process for changing them out was made easy thanks to your video.

      I found a local TV repair shop here in Phoenix, Parts Electronic & DLP Lamps on 19th Ave & Indian School Rd. He sold me the caps for about $20.

    Thanks so much for the info, and I was able to fix this same tv that you have for $7 dollars, and some change. This is one of the best self help videos on youtube today. It saved me from throwing out this tv, and lots of time. Now it's in a bedroom, and working great. Now if you could only help me with a DVD player that won't turn on, and I can find nothing wrong inside of it. Nothing that I can see.

    Awesome help. As I replied earlier, I had no power, changed out 2 burnt diodes, no TV powers on, but flashes. Do think bad caps?

    I have this model and it won't turn on but makes a whistling noise as soon as it's plugged in. Looked at the capacitors and none are swollen. Help!!!

    I recently got a magnavox 37'' LCD model# 37MF337B/37 and the PSU was making a chirp loud noise and i have seen this problem before and came to fix it saving the T.V rather then buying a whole new PSU , first check all your ( caps for the tops being blown or the bottom of them ) then 2 check your Diodes on my 37'' MAGNAVOX... the Diode that most causes the problem is labeled under zd906.... Hope that helps anyone.

    Is there any place to get the capacitors now that Radio Shack is gone forever?

    • @TheAmpLab

      There are still many Radio Shack around. Our local one is staying open. If yours closed I'm not sure where to get them other than online. Mouser electronics or Digikey come to mind.

      Is there any chance that board has a charge? I remember old tvs hold a charge and there is electrocution dangers. is that not the case with this TV, taking the board out? any special precautions?

    • @dannichols6261
      @dannichols6261 5 років тому

      @MR. Reese: I can't say for certain, so take what I'll say with a grain of salt, but as I remember the charge that you're talking about, a substantial and dangerous amount of charge, was in and due to the big TV TUBE in older CRT type tv's. The CRT itself was like a very high value capacitor which could hold a large charge. So a flat panel lcd/led display shouldn't have that kind of charge.

    Why not replace with solid state? It would make a lot more sense and not having to replace them again.
