Thanks for a very nice video! The fog gives an extra dimension and adds a lot to the images. The color photo looks better to me. Mainly because the color is on the ground and the rest is in a grey scale. Before I forget it (again), I am thankful for the strong focus on composition and the focus on the output, i e the image. I am surrounded by woodland so it is an easy option to regular shooting images in this environment 😁 Take this opportunity to wish you and your family a great X-mas weekend and a new healthy year 🧑🎄😜🌲🎁🎄🎅🎅
I'm happy to see that you like the woodland videos. There are a couple more coming. I was kind of enjoying it this autumn haha. Thank you. I wish you and your family the same. Happy holidays! Grt guidk
Fabulous continuation Guido, love the images, the b&w works well, but the colour also has something special too. Great tips as always thank you for making this 👍
I've got news for you... I ended up with so much material that there is a third part coming with maybe my favourite image of the trip in it. Hopefully you will like that too. It will go live this sunday. Thanks for watching and your kind words. Grt guido
I love the black & white photos. Super nice. Love them. I take photos in the woodlands quite a lot now, because I live two months in my old summerhouse. The trees in the bog just outside the door is just like you would love it. But normally I take woodland photo sessions a few times a year only.
Sounds amazing to me! Wish I had another house somewhere were I could spend a few months a year. Where is your house located? Thanks for watching the video. And the comment. Grt guido
I am the complete opposite. I've always been drawn towards colors everywhere. But I just programmed some settings for black and white underneath c4 so who knows maybe I will use it more in the future. Thanks for watching grt guido
I often go to a nearby eucalyptus woodland, if you can call it that! Not at all like these woodlands you photograph, Guido. What I look for, amongst the mess of bush, is passageways, framing, separation, that sort of thing. Hard to find sometimes. I think you do extremely well in your woodlands. Another great video, Guido, with superb images! You were lucky with the fog, it’s boiling hot here!🇦🇺
That sounds really nice with those eucalyptus trees. Must smell nice also with eucalyptus around! But every forest is difficult to find compositions. I'm only at the tip of the iceberg and looking forward to discover more places like this. Thanks for watchibg grt guido
I've actually only started to appreciate it recently. I can that your winters can br challenging. Right here winters can be boring and continuous overcast without any snow. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Grt guido
Groetjes, Olga
Sorry to hear that but those clean and tidy forest are like this for a good reason. It's not nature it's made like this by man and they maintain them like this. I guess forests in Norway are much wilder and feel more natural. Maybe we should trade sometime 😅 thanks for watchibg grt guido
I think i prefer the black and white shot at 11.20. Another great session Guido. No fog in Melbourne. Temperatures to be between 25 and 37.celsuis.No photography weather. Time for some inside macro.
Thanks for sharing your opinion. No photography weather here also. Overcast, rain. Way to warm for winter. Inspirationless. Maybe I will follow you're example and do some macro for a few trips. See what I can cook up. Thanks for watching. Grt guido
Hello Guido, great photos from an awesome woodlands.I prefer the colored version compared to the B/W-Version. From my point of view a crop including the trees, branches, leaves and fog (without the ground) works too. Specially in spring and autumn i like to go to the woodlands and photograph 2 to 3 times. Greetings from Germany from Bernd
Inactually thought about making that crop but eventually the ground worked out better in my opinion. I've never really looked at woodlands thenwaybindid during this trip. I'm starting to see more and more oppertunitys. Thanks for watchibg and your comment. Grt guido
Great pictures Guido, especially the B&W ones. You can change your monochrome picture profile and put a colour filter on it in camera. Dont know if you did this. In your case, cause you like the fog, put a yellow or better an orange filter on it, this will penetrate haze and fog and give a more dramatic look at the foliage, flowers etc. Green filter is for lighting up the darker greens. Red for darker blue skies. You could also play with pop art filters and use those in monochrome, dramatic tones is nice. You will be surprised:). Great pictures Guido.
No i haven't tried that. I did programm a black and white modus on c4 now so I can switch to it faster. In the end I'm really drawn by colors so I don't do much black and white bit it is something I want to explore. I don't own these filters and I'm not sure if I want to make the investment for the few times that I'm going to use it... but thabks for the tips. Will try to keep it in mind. Thanks for watchibg grt guido
I had the same. Never visited woodlands but somehow they're magic is starting to work on me. Thanks for your kind words and watching the video i appreciate it. Grt guido
Like looking for a tree in a forest! I like the horizontal at 3:01. Nice grouping 7:28 and then the B&W magic! Of the two shots I like the B&W. Keep on going! Mike
It's like looking for a needle in Haystack. Sometimes I just couldn't see the forest through the trees, haha. But I'm happy with these results. Something different then usually and I had a lot of fun and so many new ideas that I want to get into next time. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Grt guido
@@GuidoVanDeWater There was one shot of a round tree, 4 trees in the background, I thought at the time maybe remove the one directly behind the "subject" tree. Not really a thing but maybe.
Grt guido
It was so educational to see what an amazing effect CPL has on leafs color! Actually I thought that CPL should work when there is light coming on object from more or less the same direction. Like when you have sun. In case of fog it comes from all directions but CPL still works! Interesting! Why it is working? The only what I can imagine because there still one special direction - between object and camera? Thanks, you photos are great as always!
The polsrisor works well with everything that reflects. Those leafs are all wet, and so they reflect something. When you turn it, the reflection on the leafs disappears. But you also have to be careful because it's easy to make colours too hard. I alwaysbadjust them in post processing and turn them down a little most of the time. Thanks for watching Grt guido
Great woodlands again as usual. How many different woodland spots do you have that’s accessible to you? Cause it seems you have countless of options 😂 we don’t have massive ones over here that I can completely walk around in openly (or at least I haven’t found much that’s expansive). That’s why I always struggle with it. Always amazing to see you in your element though. Beautiful shots. Especially the one at 11:04, could hang that as a frame. I preferred the color though. Just my preference, I’m always very partial to B&W
I live in an area with lots and lots of woodlands indeed. Only problem is most of the are not that interesting. Lot of the woodlands are planted by human and have only straight trees in rows after eachother. Or they are very very busy with all kinds of disturbing small trees. But no old trees. Thanks for watching and your comment. Grt guido
QUESTION : How often do you photograph in woodlands?

I couldn't choose myself between the two shots. Indeed they both have something. Thanks for watching and your kind words. Grt guido
Great video! I like both halves of this photo walk! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and adventures with us.

The B&W one for me. Just a more winter cold look.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Shaun. It was still autumn when I recorded this over a month ago, but I get what you are saying 🙂 grt guido

I'm a black and white lover, but the color picture is the best in my opining...great vlog, Guido!!!

Hello Guido
Thanks for taking us with you in this 2. part. About your question. I prefure the BW one.

Thanks for sharing your opinion and watchibg the video. As always I really appreciate it! Grt guido

For me it is seasonal. I like the greenery of spring and the colors of autumn. Winter in Canada is challenging. So in all maybe 10 times a year
I've actually only started to appreciate it recently. I can that your winters can br challenging. Right here winters can be boring and continuous overcast without any snow. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Grt guido

Grt guido
Very often. But we dont have your clean and tidy woodland. And fog is rare 😭

Beide video’s geven inspiratie!

@GuidoVanDeWater you dont have to own these filters, its in the camera...you can edit your monochrome picture profile in camera.
@errol1967 ow yeah I've seen that. Don't know if that applies to raw files but I will go and find out.
I always enjoy your style Guido. I do not go o woodlands too often but must try more often I think
