I’m 45 (with 3 boys age 19-6) and I think I look 45🎉 & a lot of that has to do with the fact my community and women I admire who are older are fly! I don’t think 40+ comes with a negative connotation in my world so I’m always shocked when people think 40+ isn’t dope! 😊❤

Extra weight, personal style & smoking/ drinking can age us. Also, we're so accustomed to black people looking "good" for our age that we may automatically think the person is older. That's probably what happened in your case.

I’m 47 and I often get told I’m in my early 30’s. I don’t necessarily believe that. I think I look good, but that’s a stretch IMHO… but since the pandemic, I have officially been taking care of my skin. And it’s gotten so much better looking. I don’t mind getting older. My hair is slowly turning gray and I am not dyeing it. I’m just enjoying and embracing the journey. How I look really isn’t that important.

Some brands have the ability to "manipulate" collagen's ability to penetrate the skin via topical creams though.

In my 30s I had a mental breakdown because I neglected my mental health. Now in my 40s, my mind is clear and I'm living my best twenty-year-old life. lol! The 20-year-olds at work think I'm nuts. Lol! Yeah I don't like leaving my house either. I don't use tretinoin. I use peptides. I don't like anything harsh on my skin. SPF faithfully since I was 25. Also I have friends and family who are in the medical profession and they have scared/scarred me with horror stories that I am cautious with taking any medication, injectables or invasive surgery.
