FF4 DS is my favorite version. Has some of the best boss design I feel. Can’t speak to the secret bosses, though; I never do that type of content in FF games. Those are always meant to be hard so I don’t think that’s unique to FF4 DS in that sense regarding its overall difficulty.
Reticulating splines was Simcity 2000, one of the random things it said during the load screen. It's brutal and it's awesome
Not me sitting here literally responding out loud to wanting the Zelda Oracle games remastered. They were so freaking good and absolutely deserve to be brought to a new generation. And me.
I'm loving the HD-2D remake for Dragon Quest 3. The music is amazing and while I was upset about some of the censoring at first, I don't mind it much now because I'm loving the game so much. I'm really happy to play the game now that it's out and I can't wait for the releases of 1 and 2. As for Final Fantasy 4 I love the Final Fantasy franchise as much as I do Dragon Quest since my father introduced me to both of them. 4 is the first Final Fantasy game that I played and I was endeared to the characters and then I learned about the After Years later. I hope that the 3D version gets ported to the switch.
FF4 DS is fantastic. As someone who LOVES the story, but found the SNES release to be too easy as I got older, I really appreciate the higher difficulty and the rebalanced status effects (Slow and Stop are god tier here).
Hi David, I have a suggestion for a possible segment you can do. Taking some "old" RPG turn based games and do like a video in which you talk about the game and what they could change in a remake so they are a much much better game. Could be about the story, game mechanics or something else that prevented been good games. or at least much better than what they are.
You know, I definitely wouldn’t mind another FF4 remake if it’s something along the lines of the FF7 trilogy with graphics. The only thing is that I don’t want the game needlessly split in 3. Either way, I just want to see my girls Rosa and Rydia again with high poly models. I loved their look from the DS trailer!❤
Man. I hope this is taken in the best way possible, but I have to say… The whole DEI, inclusivity, LGBT stuff in gaming… I had just gotten so tired of it. I obviously knew the second I said something like that I would immediately be called a phobe or bigot, which I started to think that maybe it was true… BUT… it is not true. Just because I don’t like forced messaging in video games doesn’t me I don’t like gay people. I think the reason I like your channel is because of your personality. You are just a fun guy. The gay stuff doesn’t bug me at all, in fact, it’s kind of adds to the appeal of your channel. You’re funny and not afraid to say what you want. I like hearing about your takes on these niche RPGs. I like the dirty jokes (balls hanging from her mini skirt 😂) The reason I bring this up is because I just wanted you to know that there are people like me who watch your channel. We aren’t all bigots or phobes. We might disagree on some things, but I can still appreciate what you’re doing on UA-cam. I know some people won’t like my comment, it’s fine. But keep up the good work man!!
For FFIV, I'd greatly prefer the PSP game being remastered. Absolutely loved it, would have been great if it had voice acting and cinemas like old TurboGrafx-CD and Sega CD games, that would have been icing on the cake! Speaking of 2D Zelda's, which I also prefer over the 3D ones, it'd be great if Hudson Soft(Konami) revived their Neutopia & Dungeon Explorer series. They were definitely planning a Neutopia 3, which got canned. Supposedly elements of it ended up in Bomberman Tournament on GBA, which doesn't surprise me. But I'd still like a proper Neutopia 3! And would love a Dungeon Exploerer 3 with more adventures of everyone trying to get their hands on the Orb of Ora. But that's all besides the hope of remasters of the old Zelda games and the third Oracle game!
DQ3 has been amazing! I'm playing with a warrior, priest and thief. I love the new abilities that they added. But I do feel like the game is a bit easy. I just got the crown from Robin Hood so I guess we will see if the difficulty will increase.
Dragon Quest III HD2D remake was an instabuy for me. I've been playing/buying everything in this series since I received my NES copy of Dragon Warrior with my Nintendo Power subscription. But what a slap in the face it was for them to then include Denuvo and try to infect my kernel with that awful malware. No way, absolute not. I cancelled my pre-order. A friend told me that on the Switch it is supposed to be capped at 30 FPS (for this game, in 2024!!!) but it still stutters and there are ridiculous loading times going in/out of battles and towns/buildings. WTF? None of this should be happening for a game like this! What is going on here??? I'm literally one of the biggest fans of this franchise in NA for 30+ years. When are game companies going to get it? But we need to stand up for what is right without being taken advantage of. I'm not paying full ownership prices when it is ultimately a rental. I'm not. Denuvo means I can't take this game out 5, 10, 20 years later and play it. So I don't own it. And I refuse to support companies gauging their customers and charging more when I receive so much less.
David I love your videos BUT if they ever remake the older Zelda games I hope they don’t change anything about the play style of Zelda II, that game is perfect the way it is! As a matter of fact it’s my favorite game in the series, no joke!
The steam release of the 3D remake of FF4 had an easy mode which made it way more balanced. It did have some difficult spots (Doctor Lugae springs to mind) but I was able to get through the whole thing without grinding, as opposed to the original DS difficulty where I had to grind for 4 hours to even stand a chance against the final boss. I guess the question is will the Apple arcade version get the easier mode. Hope so
Hey David! The 2020 update of the PC port of FF IV DS changed new game to Normal or Hard. I tried Normal, and honestly it still had a lot of status effects being spammed at me giving Cecil a bad day. Even with the "easy" mode still harder than SFC version and waay harder than the PR one.
Always love your energy and sense of fun you bring to your videos, brightens my day! And I MEGA agree that WAY harder than the original SNES version of FF IV was the version they're going to be reissuing and I think they'll probably add an easy mode since I know that was a known quantity about that version that the developers HAVE to be aware of lol
FF4 DS was tougher in some parts, but overall had a pretty good challenge in my opinion. Once I got to the moon though ... all these mages were absolutely KICKING.MY.ASS, even with all the fire/ice/light resistance gear I could put on Cecil (he tanked for my team and STILL got beat up like there's no tomorrow) That being said, I wouldn't mind getting a few more versions, particularly the PSP version + After Years for PS4/5 as I loved the former and really liked the latter with all the nostalgia boss fights and such. The last boss was crap though.
I've played every version of FF4 plus most of the main romhacks (Ultima romhack is the best version of all options), and the DS version is definitely harder. To this day, I don't know how to beat the Mombomb boss without relying on luck.
Really hoping FF4 3D comes to consoles, FF4 is my favorite game of all time. I have every version of it ever released, got 100% in every version too! If it got released on consoles I would legit buy a PS5 just for it! XD
Hoping that's just someone on the Infinity Nikki promo team because that actually really messed up on both counts. If the developers think that way it's disappointing...
I recently finished DS FFIV. I was stucked and gave up to finish the game on the last dungeon for some months. I had to grind about 20 levels to finally can beat the game.Yep, it's really brutal.
Anyone who say FF4 hard type is not that difficult has never played it. The amount of grinding I had to do to beat the final boss is comparable to the grinding I had to do to beat Emerald and Ruby weapon in ff7.
I'd love to see any version of FFIV The After Years make it to Switch. Hopefully the 3d remake of IV also does too. You're not kidding when you say it's hard! I think the augment system is a little wonky.
So happy to hear 2D Zelda is here to stay! And I actually cheered when I heard Rivera is getting an international Switch release! I'm still interested in trying Infinity Nikki, but the marketing team being sexist, realizing what they did, then turning around and being homophobic is both sad and hilarious. And hey, Verna from Star Dive just forgot to tuck everything in properly, sometimes you leave the house in a hurry. It happens to the best of us xD
I’m looking forward to the Game marvelous announcer a while back called project. Life is an RPG and I hope Nintendo Green Light remakes of oracle of seasons and ages, as well as the minish cap
FF4 DS is one of my DS regrets of not gettung the game and I'm saddener about it just going to apple arcade, I use Android. At least Capcom and Monster Hunter have my back!
I never knew the other versions had different difficulty’s. It seems I had the easy version. So I’m really excited the pc version is the very difficult one I can’t wait :)
Even when you 'break' the game with Cecil having taunt, auto potion, counter, and reach. Some of those bosses can still nuke the entire party for no reason.
That's stupid what they did it shouldn't matter who or what you are as long as your enjoying the game and honest about the game it shouldn't matter who plays or covers it
Can we get those top-down Zeldas in HD-2D? I don't like this 3D toy animation style. They should look like the new DQ3 release. Never got to play Dragon Quest 3 until now, loving the HD-2D look.
So much to react to, so I'll sum up: This is an amazing video, you're in peak entertaining form here, David! I needed the smies and laughter today! In addition loved the FFIV background music 🎵 Game specific stuff: wow, Nikki's devs are pretty clueless huh? An open world adventure where you collect cute outfits wouldn't appeal to queer audiences at all, no! 😂 Clearly out of touch with the culture... My favorite idea you mentioned is to have Link be the 3D hero and Zelda the 2D heroine. At the very least they should release Zelda-led adventures regularly!
The reason I’ve never understood people calling FF4 DS brutal is because they act like it’s different from running into an enemy that can either one-shot your or almost one-shoot in other FFs such as 9. It’s the hardest version of 4 so, sure, on a scale of all versions of 4 the DS remake is “brutal” by comparison, but it’s not a brutal FF or brutal RPG at all.
The Infinity Nikki thing is hilarious. Youi'd think they'd want someone to dig in beyond the aesthetics and review the gameplay and systems. ...Unless they're lacking and they had to rely on gimmickry.
Poor David wants to cover the Nikki game but the devs keep blue balling him. It's oh most like that company media branch is being ran by idiots that don't do research on channels or talk to each other.
I just hope for the FFIV remake they reduce the size of the character's noggins. Their heads are so big, they look like they're going to topple over. And worse, looking at them gives me a headache.
Very strange about offering you a review copy twice and then subsequently rejecting you. It's like they couldn't make up their mind on what they wanted for reviewers. I don't quite recall having the level of difficulty you had in FFIV DS, but my playthrough may have been skewed as I spent hours grinding on goblins for the summon item to the point I gained at least 10 levels for Cecil and Kain. I do remember the difficulty spike when going to the second moon, especially in the final dungeon, where I had to buff before every regular battle, but I had to do that in the GBA version as well. At least I think I did; it was a long time ago! Speaking of canceled games that need to be revisited, not only does Capcom need to learn for Mega Man Legends 3, but Square Enix needs to learn for Chrono Break!
Imma be real with you. That company taking back their offer twice IS unprofessional. They need to check who they reach out to better before they do. With that being said, know that I respect you, your content, and your enthusiasm for the games you discuss. I BELIEVE that as culture sways back and forth and the pendulum moves from one side to the other companies have finally gotten it through their heads that they need to stop catering to a certain group of people that has been overly represented, very VERY vocal despite paying very little into the industry, all while they are every toxic. So I speculate that this case you talked about is you falling victim to the repercussions of the actions of those very toxic [alphabet group][identity politics groups] and how companies are now being more selective and cautious-if you know what I mean. Having said all that, you're great. (I've never checked your social media so I hope there isn't anything off-putting there) keep being you, you come here to YT and you do your job and don't spread any hate (at least that I've seen). You're a cool gay, one of the good ones😊 and I'd share a beer with you any day and would lift with you as well. Please keep up the great work🤜🤛🏽 ~Eddy
Warcraft 1 and 2 were definitely the Alliance vs. the Horde. Warcraft 3 was more story driven, focusing on the impending war with the Burning Legion, and Frozen Throne was the aftermath. I wouldn't mind an Aquaplus Utawarerumono RPG on Switch, so I can play it on the go. Hopefully it won't be censored. I'm sorry, I know you like the Dragon Quest 3 remake, and you do you, but censoring it after Toriyama-san's death really doesn't sit right with me. I remember enjoying Warcraft 2 and 3, and hardly remember the first one.
now i know why i got fcked so hard in FF4, this shit took me years to finish because i stoped playing every now and then out of frustration, like FF2 on the Gameboy... 😂i played that DS remake on my NDS back then and i remember that i had a really fcking hard time not only once or twice, but a plethora of times 😂this game is just brutal, almost like mortal combat... 😂

Instant Gaming may be the new place online I buy games from. My daughter and I can't wait for the Sakuna Chronicles game.
Nice!! Make sure to keep my link handy!
I had the same experience in the FF you are talking about against the SAME enemy 😂. Keep up the good work David!
Thanks, will do! It was sooo BRUTAL!
Heck yeah I did not know FF4 was your favorite in the series, and you are so right about the DS version, it's freaking hard.
I’ve been waiting 30 years for a 3D Zelda, but I still have hope.
I showed up for the DQ content and stayed for the creator. Keep up the awesome work David. ❤
Awesome! Thank you!
Man. I hope this is taken in the best way possible, but I have to say…
The whole DEI, inclusivity, LGBT stuff in gaming… I had just gotten so tired of it.
I obviously knew the second I said something like that I would immediately be called a phobe or bigot, which I started to think that maybe it was true…
BUT… it is not true.
I like the dirty jokes (balls hanging from her mini skirt 😂)
The reason I bring this up is because I just wanted you to know that there are people like me who watch your channel.
You are right David. That final fantasy IV advance version is hard as balls. I think I got to Dr Lugae and just couldn’t get past him.
DQ3 has been amazing! I'm playing with a warrior, priest and thief. I love the new abilities that they added. But I do feel like the game is a bit easy. I just got the crown from Robin Hood so I guess we will see if the difficulty will increase.
The DS version of FF4 was one of the best versions and games for the DS
Man I remember using an action replay for FF4 DS. It was sooooo fu**ing hard lol (along with FF3 DS).
David...keep up the great work, love the channel and all you announce!
I appreciate that!
Hope so
Great video! I have to ask where I can find the tracks you used in your background. Such awesome remixes of my favorite FF game.
The Dragonlord cursed me to cause a Canada post strike. My copy is stuck in limbo. The one game I've been waiting for for years!
Man i would love a pokemon game with this 2d hd style.
FF4 is also my favorite one and, I agree, it is harder than the original SNES Japanese version.
I still have nightmares about red and blue dragons lol
Hey David! The 2020 update of the PC port of FF IV DS changed new game to Normal or Hard. I tried Normal, and honestly it still had a lot of status effects being spammed at me giving Cecil a bad day. Even with the "easy" mode still harder than SFC version and waay harder than the PR one.
I needed to stop and appreciate the chapter titles especially since I never thought to check them before. The Ball Sack chapter slays me
3rd Zelda Oracle game (cancelled) = Oracle of Secrets. But alot of what it would have been was reshaped into Minish Cap.
Yes! Thank you!
FF4 DS was tougher in some parts, but overall had a pretty good challenge in my opinion. Once I got to the moon though ... all these mages were absolutely KICKING.MY.ASS, even with all the fire/ice/light resistance gear I could put on Cecil (he tanked for my team and STILL got beat up like there's no tomorrow)
That being said, I wouldn't mind getting a few more versions, particularly the PSP version + After Years for PS4/5 as I loved the former and really liked the latter with all the nostalgia boss fights and such. The last boss was crap though.
I've played every version of FF4 plus most of the main romhacks (Ultima romhack is the best version of all options), and the DS version is definitely harder. To this day, I don't know how to beat the Mombomb boss without relying on luck.
Shoutout to canceled Megaman games! As a MM fan, I feel that deep in my soul
David back in action with RPG news
Really hoping FF4 3D comes to consoles, FF4 is my favorite game of all time. I have every version of it ever released, got 100% in every version too! If it got released on consoles I would legit buy a PS5 just for it! XD
Hoping that's just someone on the Infinity Nikki promo team because that actually really messed up on both counts. If the developers think that way it's disappointing...
I recently finished DS FFIV. I was stucked and gave up to finish the game on the last dungeon for some months. I had to grind about 20 levels to finally can beat the game.Yep, it's really brutal.
Did you beat the special boss in the Giant Of Babel
Super weird how they were being about the Infinity Nikki thing, man. That sucks.
Stellar blade mods gonna be lit
Anyone who say FF4 hard type is not that difficult has never played it. The amount of grinding I had to do to beat the final boss is comparable to the grinding I had to do to beat Emerald and Ruby weapon in ff7.
I'd love to see any version of FFIV The After Years make it to Switch. Hopefully the 3d remake of IV also does too. You're not kidding when you say it's hard! I think the augment system is a little wonky.
Omg I would literally die if they did something with Zelda 2. I know it's hard, but damn I love that one.
I think it would sell like hotcakes!
After years NEEDS a PS4 PS5 Switch port WITH The PIXEL remaster cheats INTACT.
I'm about to get to DQ3HD2D but wrapping up Mario & Luigi Brothership first, almost done with that
I’m looking forward to the Game marvelous announcer a while back called project. Life is an RPG and I hope Nintendo Green Light remakes of oracle of seasons and ages, as well as the minish cap
the ff4 ost is the best hands down imo
FF4 DS is one of my DS regrets of not gettung the game and I'm saddener about it just going to apple arcade, I use Android. At least Capcom and Monster Hunter have my back!
I never knew the other versions had different difficulty’s. It seems I had the easy version. So I’m really excited the pc version is the very difficult one I can’t wait :)
Hope you enjoy it!
It is much harder and I love it! The steam version has an option for a reduced difficulty
They need to make another game exactly like Zelda 2. It was the best one in the series.
FF4 is also one of my favorite games, but idk if I'm ready to open old wounds. That DS version makes SMT seem like "baby's first rpg". Just brutal.
Even when you 'break' the game with Cecil having taunt, auto potion, counter, and reach. Some of those bosses can still nuke the entire party for no reason.
13:24 They've nothing in common whatsoever, lmao 😂😂😂
So excited for these FF ports!!
Because you know - duh 😂
Love the channel bro. I consider you the authority on all things Mana and SaGa
I appreciate that!!
I like Riviera the promised land but I hope they add some stuff to it
That's stupid what they did it shouldn't matter who or what you are as long as your enjoying the game and honest about the game it shouldn't matter who plays or covers it
Can we get those top-down Zeldas in HD-2D? I don't like this 3D toy animation style. They should look like the new DQ3 release. Never got to play Dragon Quest 3 until now, loving the HD-2D look.
So much to react to, so I'll sum up: This is an amazing video, you're in peak entertaining form here, David! I needed the smies and laughter today! In addition loved the FFIV background music 🎵
Game specific stuff: wow, Nikki's devs are pretty clueless huh?
Please keep up the great work🤜🤛🏽

Interested in that new toheart game.
I feel attacked with that voice about to say it after years wasn’t that hard. 😂
Thanks daveed
Got my weekly dose of rpg news. Now it's time to play DQ3 for 10-12 hours straight.
I remember those glorious days of no responsibility 😅
Thanks. Now I can’t unsee the ballsack 😂
now i know why i got fcked so hard in FF4, this shit took me years to finish because i stoped playing every now and then out of frustration, like FF2 on the Gameboy... 😂i played that DS remake on my NDS back then and i remember that i had a really fcking hard time not only once or twice, but a plethora of times 😂this game is just brutal, almost like mortal combat... 😂
I wanted to try Infinity Nikki, but not anymore after this stuff.

After Years is one of my favorite FF games. I really hope to see that on PS5 someday.
Keep up the great videos! Love your channel.
P.S. You look like your in the best shape of your life :D
Wow, thank you!
