I went down _______ about 4 o'clock. I've been listening to this by Muldar and Kweskin for over 50 years and have NEVER understood the place they went to see those bluefish swimming around. Can anybody help me? 🙂
To my ears this version sounds almost, but not quite, like - 'Well I went down the HILL about four o'clock . . . etc . ' When he sings it with the Jim Kweskin band it sounds almost like a mix of HILL and D'TOWN; guess you have to make of it what you will. Almost every version I've listen to does it differently but Geoff Mulduar's is the best IMHO.
Listening on repeat! The guitar part reminds me a bit of “here comes the sun”
I like 👍🏾 what you do !👍🏾🎸👍🏾🐠🐡
Bloody good tune, lots of character in his singing too.
This, along with Downtown Blues and Viola Lee in on the 1967 Jim Kweskin Jug Band album "See Reverse Side For Title".
Loving Spoonful version was my intro to this song.
That's how you put a capo to good use. Guitar accompaniment over voice. Excellent.
I remember Jeff and Maria used to hang around the Dead scene 50 years ago.
That;s the real shit!
Great picking and vocals so reminiscent of Henry himself!
Great stuff. I've been trying to play Jelly Roll Baker like Geoff Muldaur for about forty years now.
nice
