Taj Mahal does not get the respect he deserves. Living legend!!!
This, to me, is one of the best bit of film on the internet. I check in and watch and listen to it from time to time, it lifts my spirit so high, it's gorgeous hearted people doing their thing, love it so much. Love Taj but love them all actually.
100% sister. What the internet should be for.
Me too!! I come back to this, (and other DT impromptu vids) multiple times throughout the year! :)
This one and the videos with Sharon Jones just lift my spirits every time. Peace, love and joy to you all.
Wow, effing amazING!
Taj has been blowing my mind for 40+ years and the man just don't STOP!
Amen. I always come back to this. 1000 times.
Love when everyone else in the room just lights up when Taj gets into it. When everyone is that good and been performing with so many different people and still look like kids in a candy store, you know the guys fantastic.
so true....Taj is soul!
Love that. Kids in a candy store. Deep down enjoyment and soul filling.
It's a beautiful thing to watch!
there are some extraordinarily bizarre and depressing corners of UA-cam, but dang, when you stumble across the diamond in the rough like this, its fantastic....
When Taj Mahal is in the room, EVERYONE ELSE is playing back up.
Man, well said!
absofuckinlutely!!
And they look very happy to do so!!
When he takes the harp up at 4:30....wow yessir I follow
I like your way of thinking........My first encounter with was The Flip Wilson Show when I was 7......man
Taj is an American treasure
scbeachguy57 a universal treasure, for sure.
Have seen him live several times - never disappointing
You can feel their deep respect for him..
Had the pleasure and luck to see him in the 70s when I was quite young. Even though I didn't know squat about music, I suspected I was listening to a legend.
Amen Jesus..!
Holy Shit! Literally. This is no mere throwaway jam. This is as real as it gets. Taj takes the lead, TTB lays down the irresistible groove, and Jerry puts the icing on the cake. You can find other stuff this good, but you can't find anything better.
Groovin and moving ❤
@@alanwright3430 Taj is like a Zen master or Blues Jedi.
Damn straight
@@prestondust6676 Amen
Forgive me if I've said this before, but NOBODY has more devastating timing than Taj. Ever. Maybe Miles. This is a masterclass in groove, with virtuoso students.
Got that when he signals with his right arm. Taj is a conductor.
Miles who?
How badass would it have been to be in that room that night....there is NO SHOW bigger than Taj...and how about DT keeping that "fiddlin' groove" going with the slide. This is happy music if there ever was some.
i love how they cant keep from occasionally grinning ear to ear cuz they're have so much fun
1st thing I thought!! Smiles, ear to ear!! @roadydog ..and those Trucks smiles don't come so easy either!!
@@Changelingheart Right ?! It takes aLOT to a smile from Derek!
This is priceless. I never get tired of watching this video. Taj singing and playing his harp with such a talented group of musicians.
Taj simultaneously brings out the child and the master musician in all of them.
Me too. I've listened to it dozens of times. I pick up my acoustic guitar and just jam along.
"I ain't never seen no whiskey...the blues made me sloppy drunk" - Priceless
I started my day watching this.
What a GREAT way to get going !
Taj and Tedeshi Trucks.
Dosen't get much better
Been listen to Taj for 40 yrs. I can't ever get enough!
🤗🙏❤
How in the world is it possible for someone to NOT like this. Love it.
This is good. Real good. Goosebump good. There are no words to truly describe how good this is.
NO GOOSEBUMP GOOD ?
goosebump good! yeah thats it!
Wish I could leave more than just one like
I just wish there was an album of their stuff just like this. This is the true down home stuff right here....
Where words fail music succeeds.
This video is so fucking amazing, thank you to the universe for allowing it to exist.
Easy Chair Studios Amen!!
“Hello, Front Desk?
Yes, this is 317, there is a lot of music coming out of 315.
No, no, no just ask them to put a mic on the vocalist!
Good night!”
LoL....I like it. I think they were backstage at the Beacon but your version was more interesting.
comment of the century
No need for a mic.
@@Billfish57 mine .
Bloody oath mate .
I love the smile from Derek the whole playing. 😁
Hes play in with Taj Mahal, I mean the man stood beside Jesse Davis.
All guitarist idolize Jesse Davis
What a room full of talent,Taj,Derek,Susan, and Jerry Douglas.
Absolutely
I swear I've listened to this 20 times today.
Love the trucks.
But this is extra special.
Taj Mahal is a national treasure... lord that man is BAD!
God Bless Taj Mahal
One of those national treasures not many have heard of.
you nailed it.
Amen
He tajjing it up real nice.
He's from the Caribbean... isn't he?
You cannot teach vocal "tone" quality or a true passion for the music. Taj has both in spades.
One of the best jams I've ever heard.
Amazing.
What an experience for all you young folks!! Duane Allman said, He ain't just a man ya'll, he's a lesson in how to live!!!" So true!! He made me paint my mailbox blue!!
Just another reason why I LOVE TRB!!
as if I needed one!!
Year 2022, ageless! I wiil never be the same!!!!
I don't know what's better - how great Taj is here or how much fun everyone else looks like they're having. It's great seeing Taj come full circle with the soul of the ABB-all they needed to do was follow up with Statesboro Blues. Really makes you glad for UA-cam.
It is an absolute blessing to be able to see the process of this band learning songs like this. It's a look behind the scenes of what makes that band so damn good. I would honestly pay for a stream just to watch the band totally stripped down to basics like in this vid. For whatever reason, I feel like they can reach even higher highs/peaks just by using a simple backstage green room setup just like this. Because of that, their pre-show rehearsal vids like this one on youtube show them being able to completely harness the innate, raw musical power that they all possess, and be able to turn that into incredible music in any situation, whether the drummers are playing the coffee table and maracas, the vocals not amplified at all (but still cut through amazingly), or even derek playing through a really small combo amp, this music is still 100% as effective for communicating the feeling or message of a song like this, and can reach down to an even deeper part of your soul. When this band is stripped back just like this, you can guarantee that magic will totally happen.
Wow!!!
The finest jewelers, the luckiest prospectors, the smartest Alchemist could never make gold that fine.
Amazing.
This could never be reproduced .... stage or tape.....blows me away
watch`n that made my whole damn day!
AGREED!!! Haha so happy right now
Ditto !!
Yep . . . puts jammin in the living room into perspective . . . . :)
george schmitt Holy shit!!! I could listen to this all day
...all day every day, yeah, look here mammy you sked me...
could you imagine ever in your life stumbling in on a session like this. holy moly.....
Taj... holy shit. Of that era/generation I put Dylan, Taj Mahal, and Keith on a pedestal. Giants. Living legends, as of today.
The limescale has just been scraped off my soul!
Prove it.
I've been watching this every day for the past "I don't know how long" and it still just brings a smile to my face.
This makes my soul happy!
This is the soul of music !! This is so uplifting !! thank you all - Taj is a genius, Derek is Derek Trucks ! , Susan is a goddess, the drummers need only a tin can , a shaker and the table - this is the genuine deal , listening a second time with my eyes closed - brilliant stuff - just love the way Derek and Taj and everyone works together- just love it 🎼🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🌏✌️👏👏👏🎼 thanks for sharing and posting 🙏
What a freaking clinic! Taj Mahal teaching Jerry Douglas, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks and company how it's done. My guitar teacher lamented to me once that talent is the cheapest commodity in the industry, which I can agree with to a point. But still, there are masters in the game and that room is filled with them. I mean come on, when's the last time you saw Jerry Douglas smiling from ear to ear? I can't get enough of this.
Whoever is filming... please keep doing these fly on the wall videos of rehearsal.
Absolutely love the looks and smiles on Derek's face ! We are so very lucky!!
Susan's face when he starts singing says it all!!!
Soul music incardinated
Haven't watched this in about a year. Still one of the most joyous videos on the internet. Just the pleasure they all take in the process - GENIUS Derek Trucks completely happy to give way to Taj. Love it.
Amazing!!!! TTB and Taj together. It doesn't get any better than that!!
One of the best things on the internet !
Thanks for opening the door a little and letting us in.😉
What could possibly compel someone to give this a thumb's down? It's magnificent!
The 1....... Been a Taj fan since the seventies...this is why I remain......The Syncopation..The Groove!!! The Soul!!! . The Annointed !!! Where's my guitar.??? Taj always makes me want to Jam... Never fails!!! Thank you HSCF...wherever you are >
THIS IS JUST AWESOME HERE, THE CALIBER OF PEOPLE HERE, THE MUSIC, THE BEST SONG OF MINE OF TAJ, COUSIN FIGEL
Blues is not gonna get better than this. Discovered Taj Mahal today and blues got me sloppy drunk, listened to this 20 times in the last 24 hours
Beautiful, divine, wonderful this is the Blues
no words. pure astounding greatness. good Lord, what a clip.
I love how Taj describes the energy and feeling of music.. I could never put into words but completely relate.. chase and make the feeling! Spread great cheer!😁☝️✨🎤📯
Deffinately A National treasure. !Have enjoyed Taj for 50 years. Nobody like him
The way he hits those punches.....truly a wonder Mr. Taj Mahal!!!! Love it!!!!
Must have watched this a thousand times! Just doesn't get any better.
Taj makes me smile legend!!
Many have tried to copy it, but no one can lay down a groove like Taj!
There is no way not to grin, ear to ear, at this performance. And they are all in the groove with the Big Man on this one!
Love how Derek just smiles at Taj he's a legend
It's over it's gone.. but l'm still there..what a session..great ensemble...amazing..
I am in my fifties and my first musical memory is Taj Mahal packing his leaving trunk. I feel privileged to be alive at the same time as Taj Mahal.
When the Master commands you to drop that beat you’d better be ready! This is amazing ❤
Daddy, is this what they call a fuckin' jam?
Why is son.. this is a fucking good jam
Yeah buddy!!!!! Lol
The best of the best right here
Holy shit ..if you can stay still and dislike this .your soul is dead my friends. ..amazing ..
This is music at its finest.
Taj still got it, would love to see him live his first two albums are some of the best ever !
School of groove right here folks...
Tetsaraku ...no school like the old school
there aint no old school . . . its called Life .
For Gods sake, this is “just” a back stage jam…..and Taj Mahal is working a sweat up! Jerry Douglas is a star here…..l.l.see him in the UK in Celtic Connections..pure genius. This is just pure gold.
Taj and Jerry Douglas with TTB. Love it!! 💜
Taj is a national treasure.
I have watched this 150 times and Taj gets left hangin every time.
Once he gets deep into that groove ,there ain't no stopping him.
Legendary folks and guitar switches.
haha this was bad.....:)
Always felt this was the best way to find the groove.......... small room, a few friends....... and a little magic. So sweet!
That was freakin' beautiful!!! Love Taj Mahal... Been a fan since the ";Ol' Folks at Home" album came out, love Linin' Track and Stagger Lee. So many great albums over the years, must have been 17 or 18 first time I heard him. Bravo TTB!
HUGE THANK YOU to the person that recorded this and POSTED IT for US Music Lovers and Fans !!!!!!!! this kinda behind the Seans song perp an ABSOLUTELY Fascinating
This is pure magic. Food for my soul.
Oh, to have been a fly on the wall in that room! Wow...
+Mark M I'd be one singing fly, lol!
Mark M AMEN
.......and getting smashed afterwords.............heaven !
100%
I saw Taj the first time years ago when he was pulling out his fender amp and guitar out of his car. Amazing show! Simply the best.
And that's how a classic tune is done... Livingroom style
The song is great...the players are great...But the best thing is watching everyone having such a great time with Mr. Taj......
When my kid asks me for a drum set I am going to get them two sticks, a small coffee table, and a can of sprite and tell them to call me when they are better than this guy.
gotta include a brush too :) But you're right, best way to do it. I had a pottery instructor, started by giving us half a thimble of clay, said "make a bowl." When we got it perfectly round and even thickness, he gave us a thimble full...
Fireside643 😏TaDa
Until they ask you to get the band back together again🙄😜
Fireside643 seriously !
Still cheaper, two cups and a knife will do ...

(And you easily can tell where this is from by the way the presenter picks his nose in front of the cam :)
Just go for the carton box, cheaper :-) ua-cam.com/video/C6KEgEAdPOA/v-deo.html
Without a doubt, one of the best things I've ever heard or seen! That's a room full of talent right there. Drumsticks on a coffee table and a beer can for a cymbal...
Taj always brings it, even in a motel room jam.
that was so good transfering the grove to the band and seeing them respond and get the feeling
That's what you call "feel." The smiles flashing around the room say it all.
TTB, Taj Mahal AND Jerry F'n Douglas on the dobro? Is this a glimpse of heaven??
yes :)
this calibre of musicians have such a heavenly life. God bless you all 💖
I just keep coming back to watch this video. Thanks a lot for posting this masterpiece.
Taj is so damn cool. I've seen him twice and they were both awesome shows. my dad just saw tedeschi trucks band not too long ago. still not over it.
this just makes you smile from ear to ear.
I have died and gone to Heaven. Amazing. Play it over and over for an hour now. So much talent in one room. I must be dead. We will meet on the Isle of Avalon. Peace.
Lord have mercy.. Taj's singin and jus the whole groove, man.Dereck and Suzanne ,just look at their faces when they first start up,headin for my slide right now.
I think it's spelt "Susan"
@@socialist-strong, yes, it is spelled Susan.
Move over Bo Diddly! Damn what an infectious beat!
This makes me happy!!!
One gear right there.. Full speed util the wheels fall off! Love this!
