Thanks for sharing your experience with the sx940. it’s helpful. My camera is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I already have a sx920. It’s the zoom! I found that I use it for stills. I set the shutter speed at 1/1000 and let the iso float for most shots and let over and under exposure compensation. Snow or dark depending. I think I will like the moving monitor. Thanks, I’m a new subscriber.
Ordered this camera in amazon for my newly starting cooking and serving service youtube channel. it's Arriving tomorrow. Not sure how it's going to help me.. Hope for the best.
Hello, I just bought this camera for my Vlog channel. What setting do you recommend to set the camera for vlogs? Also what editing software for my Dell laptop do you recommend? Thank you 🙏🏼
Hi Janet! I'd recommend opening up your aperture as much as possible to get a little bit of background blur. I personally think 1080p looks much better because you avoid the cropping you get with 4k. As far as editing software, I use Adobe Premiere Pro, but Filmora is what I used before since it's a good alternative for computers that may not be fast enough for Premiere Pro
You're very welcome! I usually put it in aperture priority mode and open the aperture as far as possible (meaning you want the aperture number as low as possible)
@@itsjohnzamora Okay, aperture mode is the AV mode correct? I’m looking at my camera while I message you 🙈 I am so new at this camera stuff I’ve been using my phone for vlogs for the past year 🙊
Hello! I haven't tried the filters, I prefer to adjust color in my editing software instead, that way I have more flexibility in editing the original file
Camera with all light bright and sunny and you have little problem but I wanted a comprehensive test under low light conditions. So what is it with the purchase of this one?
You make a great point; I never tested it in low light. I wouldn't recommend this camera in low light. It's maybe a hair better than most cell phones in low light, but I wouldn't say that it's good. The photos really degrade pretty quickly if you're shooting anything at night, or even indoors at times if you don't have plenty of lights on
brother i am confused in buying either canon xs740 hs or canon M200 but then i have to spent extra money but right now i just wanted it for my instagram plz can you suggest that will be a great help , love from INDIA
What will you be using it for? If you want that nice background blur, I'd go with the Canon m200. I personally have used the Sony a6000 for years and recently added the a6100. I prefer those over Canon because the autofocus is a bit quicker, making it more useful for video and action photography 👍
@@itsjohnzamora mainly for stills on insta and fb i love videos as well slomo motion mainly but my samsung s7 edge is doing decent job but for i wanted better images quality for stills, do you think investing in sony a6000 in 2020 could be an option?
If you can get your hands on an a6000 I really think it's a great value right now! Plus, it's still compatible with so many lenses so you'll have a lot of room to grow until you feel the need to upgrade. It was the camera I learned photography and videography on and it was perfect for that!
Nice video. I’ve had this camera for about 2 yrs now and I’ve only used it a handful of times. I’ve been into photography/editing lately so I’m definitely going to utilize it more. Thanks for sharing
I don't think the SX740HS is worth the full price of $400. For that budget, I would recommend spending a tiny bit more for an entry-level mirrorless camera like the Sony a5100, Sony a6000, Canon M50, or even older point-and-shoot models of the Sony rx100 or Canon g7x if you can snag a good discount on one of those. The situation where this camera shines is that I do think it's your best option for a long zoom lens at this budget. If you don't see yourself using the zoom often, there are other options out there that will have better image quality and that are more dynamic 👍
@@itsjohnzamora I primarily use the cam while travelling and zoom is something I often use. DSLRs are bit bulky to carry. I previously used Canon Ixus 145 and now looking to upgrade.
Gotcha! I've never used a Panasonic camera before so I can't speak from experience unfortunately. For their point and shoots, their Lumix zs70 looks comparable as far as specs go
Your only option is to shoot at 60fps, then slow it down to 40% speed in your editing program if you're exporting at 24fps or 50% speed if you're exporting at 30fps
I believe it can take 20 megapixel photos. Pretty decent for cropping, but the sensor is a bit small so image quality isn't the best; especially indoors.
You're very welcome! I think the zoom is amazing, and the video is passable, but as far as photos go you have a lot of better options if you're not planning on using that zoom lens very frequently
I think the best bet you have is a point and shoot camera like this one, but the 4k still has a ways to go. Personally, I don't use the 4k on this camera because of the crop factor it comes with, and this is the case with most point and shoots in this price range. Maybe in time, the 4k will catch up but for now I find the 1080 to be much easier to use in these kinds of cameras 👍
@@itsjohnzamora appreciate it brother for suggestions, I am very mad @4k videos quality, then I will proceed with 1080p, I wanna shoot nature wise doc short film
@@soorajunnithan8424 Gotcha. This is a great camera to shoot nature photos and video! The 4k is fine for telephoto nature shots, but it's when you want to get a wider landscape shot where you might want to go down to 1080p to avoid the crop factor
I'd go 740HS for the portability. If you're going for the 540HS I'd recommend spending a little extra for a used Sony a6000/6100. It's the same size and can do so much more 👍
This camera fits the bill for me. The portability and it’s small size doesn’t attract attention when street shooting like a larger DSLR up in your face would. I also take pic’s of old abandoned buildings using the excellent zoom from the roadside when I can’t get up close and the property is posted no trespassing….I don’t blog so it’s not an issue with me and I mainly shoot only stills…I’m sure there are much better camera’s to be had and I have some SLR analog cameras that I use as well that were quite pricey in their heyday and still take excellent pictures on film.. Digital technology is and will be getting better but to keep up with the best there is increases in cost as well and besides the pictures will only be as good as the eyes you are looking at them with.
My bad! A lot of vloggers buy this camera for the flip up screen so I may have gotten too caught up in that facet of the camera. Still appreciate you watching and giving feedback though!
Thank G. I will be buying this one for birding. Would you agree?
Yes, the telephoto zoom is where the camera really shines in my opinion!

Haha no worries at all! Yes, AV is the correct mode. Turning the number down opens up your camera lens and allows more light into the camera 👍
I can definitely see your channel grow. Great video by the way.👍🏼
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that!!
Hi have you tried these filters for it yet. I believe that can help with the lighting. I only just started with this camera as a beginner.

Best for photography
Agreed 100%!

Nice zoom and beautiful model but I prefer the Sony RX100 VII more expensive one but an impressive quality pictures and 4k unlimited time video.
I agree with you there. The Sony is so much more dynamic

Yes, there are hundreds of better cameras out there, but for this price and this size, you can't get a better zoom 👍
Only if it took raw format images
That would be a game changer for sure!
LOL why the photos look so Goddamn low res? Its like it uses digital zoom.
The sensor is actually smaller than some cell phone cameras, so image quality isn't the best
