    The best camera (Chase Jarvis) is the one you have with you, and can comfortably carry I would add. You nailed the great reasons to convert from bulky/heavy to small and light. I enjoy all your videos.

      Thanks Ronald! small puts the fun back in photography for me. I like a camera that gets me outdoors. Many of my friends cant see the fun thru the excessive pixel obsession! I am not above that sometimes - I'm just done with marketing dogma.

    I'm finding that cellphones while good. Simply put there's no replacement for optical zoom.
    I have a DSLR but it's bulky and annoying to carry around. Also for whatever reason it brings lots of attention from ppl. 🙄.

      Hi Tom. Its a modest camera for all reasons. But lots of fun. Dust that rig off and go have some fun with that zoom. I cracked the manual and it kept me busy for weeks exercising all the bells and whistles. But when it doubt just push the button and let the camera do the rest. Thank You for watching. I have (had) the SX720 HS. Left it outside in thunderstorm (oops).
    Been looking for a replacement and although first thought was for the SX740 HS i looked around at competitors and then made the fatal mistake of reading professional reviews.
    I got so caught up in the detail of differences i got stuck not knowing which way to go.
    Then I watched your video, and one single line was the key that let me out.
    "I won't get the best photograph but I will get a memory out of it"
    Yes! Exactly! I am an amateur, not a pro. Get the camera that does what you want. Long zoom, fits in pocket, good photos (but not excellent photos - you are not spending 1,000+)
    Thanks for the words of wisdom!

    Thank you you took some beautiful videos with their camera lots of nice pictures I agree with you I'm tired of loving a SLR camera around heavy pain in the neck even my G7 Panasonic is lightweight but it's bokey I think the Canon SX40 is perfect and I love your pouch you have for your little camera bag and you can carry a couple of accessories extra cards batteries in the front compartment that's all I need I think I'm going to get me one and just stick with that looks like it takes some great pictures thank you for sharing is great video and happy Labor Day 🖐️🇺🇸👍🤠😎

    Those horses are gorgeous! That mink just wandered right up... lol Point and Shoots have come a loooong way in 20 yrs. Especially in the digital vs. optical zoom. I still have all my old film cameras and lenses, can't bear to part with them. I don't think I've bought a new digital in 10 yrs, I was waiting for the Megapixel rage to slow down. lol Megapixels are like the quantity of blades on a razor...There's only so many! I keep trying to validate buying a fancy DLSR but I really like just being able to pull a slim point and shoot out and get the shot. Maybe just a nice simple upgrade would be fun. Funny story, the dang chipmunks keep storing all the black sunflower seeds in corners of my grill. They are sassy too. I felt bad scooping them out when I winterized everything. lol

      Thank You! Iceland is nature photography heaven. I avoided the digital constant upgrade merry-go-round. I loved my Olympus OM4T system. My all time favorite camera. I had every lens Olympus made. Darkroom lighting and oft boxes etc. I dumped it all when I purchased my first point and shoot. No point and shoot can compete with the interchangeable lens cameras amazing quality. I am just out to have fun and capture memories for now. Later I may dive back in. My rule now is whatever gear I have I have to use it and that rule is getting me outside a lot more and preventing me from accumulating more crap when on line late at night. You brig out a good point which was in the back of my mind when I made this video. We have great photo opportunities all around us daily. Getting an interesting shot of the common, with the gear we have is time well spent in my opinion. Thanks for your comment. =Cosmo

      Hi DR I am having fun following your road trips. I am wondering why yo are not carrying this camera and a tripod and recording some of the fabulous stuff you are seeing? I’m sorry the Native American actually the Canadian Indian, I was told that if you notice as you walk along a river or paddle down a river the Kingfisher will just stay ahead of you on the trail or the river. Apparently what he is doing is alerting his fellows to change back to their animal species so as not to be seen by the people approaching them.

      I listen to the animals. They do communicate. The squirrels and crows in my back yard alert each other when a hawk is around. I have found Owls several time while birding because Crows and Ravens drew attention to them,
      A wise old owl sat in an oak,
      The more he heard, the less he spoke;
      The less he spoke, the more he heard;
      Why aren't we all like that wise old bird?
