Your fish along videos are definitely my favorite ones. I’m on the wet side mostly sea run cutt fishing but love seeing these videos. Gets me eager to head over to the grill and get one of those wagyu burgers and maybe even land a few trout.
Great video, love the casual along-with format, just out fishing to see what happens. I’m always learning something new from your videos, love them all! I’m in Fla., 500 miles from the closest trout waters, so your videos keep me fired up. I’d love to get out there and fish out of Red’s some day with you guys.
Excellent video as always Joe! Look forward to seeing you and attending your classes at the Western Fly Fishing Expo again here in Idaho this weekend! Keep up the great videos and don’t let your head get too big, but I need another autographed hat as well so bring some hats please!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Love these, I have learned a lot from these videos over the years. I really like the NZ suspension nymph set up you made some videos about a winter or two ago.
Happy to help and glad someone appreciated that. Nothing worse than a giant ball of sighter material wrapped all through your top four eyelets after you breakoff hahaha.
Great video - great instructional video, amazing fish, I learn so much just watching what you do and explanations are very insightful. Thanks for sharing so much of your experience with us.
Absolutely some of the best flyfishing videos on the Tube Joe! You're a natural and dude, you have an excellent instructional style. I love fishing the Yak. Makes me want to head over the pass for a few hours of winter solitude.
Well done. I worked at the hospital in your town years ago. Sure wish I knew how good your fishing was back then. I. need to get back up there soon Merry Christmas.
Please do! The "core" classes we do are super. They are a good mix of having some fun casting with down-to-earth advice from instructors interested in your success. Good crew here.
Wow, 10 minutes from you house - amazing! I was lucky enough to have access to the Cache de Poudre river, here in CO, that was about 7 minutes from my old place. Great fish by the way. Not sure what weight your T&T was, but I love my 10’ 9”, 3wt! Happy holidays and tight lines always! 🎣
Thanks for the great video, what are your thoughts above going to drop shot for those time you need more weight? It seems like that would be a way to use the fly pattern you want and still get deep. Thanks much
Nice video Joe. Just what I needed to cheer me up on a dreary day in central Texas. What net are you using? I am looking for something with a longer handle like the one you are using.
Thanks, I have the T&T 1093-4 which I like a lot . I’m still getting used to tight lining but I’ve had some success and your videos have helped me and also help keep me inspired. Thanks for that
Thanks Joe! Merry Christmas to you and your family. What about using a 3wt trout spey and flymphing or dead drift that sweet point fly and leisenring lift at the end of the drift? I’m gonna play with that with my 11’7” 3wt ACR on the lower Deschutes Christmas week
Give that a shot. My experience has been that these presentations are so touchy and delicate, even with large flies, that a trout spey rod would be overkill. Handling 5X tippet (which is almost essential to slice through the current), is a job for light rods.
Ha yes, sometimes. He's on payroll at the shop now so I don't feel too bad when he doesn't get his licks in though. My older son loves running the cam and editing.
@@redsflyshop My middle son graduated from montana state’s film school. He grew up making films and editing them with his friends. He works for an ad agency now doing exactly that! When your oldest is ready to shop for colleges have him take a look at msu. Plenty of great fishing around Bozeman too so you can visit often
On this rig it's a RIO 25# Slick Shooter. There are pro's and con's to all lines on Euro rods so I'm not loyal to this. It makes a good spey shooting line when I put a Skagit head on that reel and is a very stiff line and handles really well as far as mono is concerned.
Yes I was using a RIO Slick Shooter 25#, I also use this running line and reel for some of my trout spey heads so it works really well using one reel for both! Here is the product: redsflyfishing.com/products/rio-slick-shooter-running-line-mono-shooting-line-for-spey-casting
@@redsflyshop , I used to run all mono but was having issues with it slipping through my reel (even though mine is closed cage) so I bought a Euro fly line from you guys, which has worked well but it doesn't cast as well as full mono. Might have to try this slick shooter
Good christmas I have un question With Yakima river what are others rivers for fishing trout in your basement? And compatibly to wading? Thanks a lot!!
For trout the Naches, Cle Elum, Tieton, Cooper, Waptus, Teanaway, and some smaller creeks. The Yakima has by far the most fish per mile and is the only year-round river here.
I'm glad you covered my streamside specialty....SNAGGING TREES!!🙃
Thanks, Joe! you motivated me to get out more on the water.
Thanks! That's the idea. No matter size of trout or where you are at having some home water is one of life's greatest joys.
Your fish along videos are definitely my favorite ones. I’m on the wet side mostly sea run cutt fishing but love seeing these videos. Gets me eager to head over to the grill and get one of those wagyu burgers and maybe even land a few trout.
More to come! Thanks for the props. Plenty of room over here on the dry side for more anglers. see ya this spring.
Joe, you're the best. Keep posting.... so informative
Thanks, will do! Really appreciate the watch and follow.
Looks like so much fun! Great fish in your back yard, what a blessing!
It really is! Love living here.
Fantastic video, thanks for taking us along!
Fun morning.
Indeed! Looking forward to the next one. Glad I live so close haha.

We would love to see you out here! Enjoy that weather. Really cold here now.
Love the little insights we get to see watching you in action, thanks Joe!
My pleasure, thanks for watching. Devil is in the details!
Great video as usual! Keep making them please!
Thank you so much, I'll try to keep it up!
Thanks for taking the time to pass along info!
You bet!
I'm a fan of the fish along videos. I'm always learning something new from them!
More to come! Thank you.
Great info video! Thx

Excellent!!
Many thanks!

You have taught me so much from spey to tight line fishing😊😊
Glad to hear it!
Love these, I have learned a lot from these videos over the years. I really like the NZ suspension nymph set up you made some videos about a winter or two ago.
Glad you like them! I love the NZ rig especially on a rising river when the nymphs are likely suspended.
As always, I love this video just like I love all your videos. I love the way you explain things in such detail. Appreciate it, bro.
You are so welcome! Really grateful to do what I do. Thanks for the watch and the follow.
I've been watching your channel for years. Love all your videos especially these fish along videos!
Awesome! Thank you! I'll try and keep this format alive.
Thanks for sharing even the bloopers! Your son did a great job too.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you.
Very helpful for sure . Cheers and have a great Christmas 🙏
Happy holidays!
Great video Joe. Really enjoyed while this chilling after Christmas Eve party
Happy holidays and Merry Christmas, thank you!
A mop fly is the best way to fish at distance. Enjoy the videos Joe.
Thanks 👍I've got some extra heavy ones I'll give that a shot.
Great tip about breaking off stuck fly by hand! Thx
Happy to help and glad someone appreciated that. Nothing worse than a giant ball of sighter material wrapped all through your top four eyelets after you breakoff hahaha.
Awesome video, one day I’m gonna get up that way and try to book a trip! Would love to fish with you
That would be cool!

What a nice comment, thanks a ton really appreciate it!

Wow, thanks! Really appreciate this note.
Agree ! , only other one I enjoyed this much is the late Bill Lowe for his Spey casting instructions
Well done. I worked at the hospital in your town years ago. Sure wish I knew how good your fishing was back then. I. need to get back up there soon Merry Christmas.
Hey thanks Scott, Merry Christmas to you as well! Get back up here and go fishing.
What a great video, you are great fisherman I need to come up to your shop and take your 101 and 102 class this spring.
Please do! The "core" classes we do are super. They are a good mix of having some fun casting with down-to-earth advice from instructors interested in your success. Good crew here.
Great video, as always. Nice to see that I am not the only one who donates flies to the trees. lol. Hey, what model sunglasses are those?
Ha thanks. Those are Costa Saltbreak with the green lens. We sell the glass lens at Red's. Much sharper than the Poly IMO>

That is awesome! Also a good place to live it sounds like. Love my backyard water.
Thanks for the great video, what are your thoughts above going to drop shot for those time you need more weight? It seems like that would be a way to use the fly pattern you want and still get deep. Thanks much
You can do that absolutely, I do that if the bottom is scummy or I'm picking up a ton of leaves.
Nice video Joe. Just what I needed to cheer me up on a dreary day in central Texas. What net are you using? I am looking for something with a longer handle like the one you are using.
That is the Fishpond Canyon, fish to 18" fit in there nicely. Any bigger than that and they tend to catapult themselves out.
Great video! Thanks for sharing. What T&T contact 2 model were you using in this video?
That is the 10'9" 2 Weight. Love that rod for most of my fishing, but it doesn't move the big bugs quite as well as a #3.
Thanks, I have the T&T 1093-4 which I like a lot . I’m still getting used to tight lining but I’ve had some success and your videos have helped me and also help keep me inspired. Thanks for that

@@redsflyshop my 3wt is pretty light like a 5wt SH. I think I will is straight fluorocarbon and give it a shot. I’ll let you know how I do
I kinda whip fish in too
Yea I'm not very patient with them. I like to get 'em on and off. For me it's about the bite not the fight.
Merry Christmas to you and your family! I'm assuming that when you're done catching fish you let your cameraman have a shot at 'em?

25# RIO Slick Shooter for my "line" - 3' of 1X Sighter Material RIO - tippet ring - 5' of 5X flurocarbon.
