    After watching how you designed and Drew up this trailer, it reminded me 100% of myself. I do the same exact thing. You had a really nice result too. Way to go.

    Great Trailer build...Is this something I can build using a Flux-core Mig Welder? I'm new to welding and wanted to build a small trailer similar, minus the gate. Thanks

      Thanks, sure you can use flux core mig welder, just make sure you get good welds and good penetration with the right welder settings for the steel thickness. I built my first trailer with a flux core welder.

    Hi RG what do you think it would cost to do this in Aluminum? I have an old side by side that doesnt fit my trailer so ill have to build one. I just bought a tig welder for aluminum so I think I'll go that route. A new 5.5x10' is somewhere around 5000cad so It has to be a little cheaper Id think. first I have to learn to tig then I have to learn to build a trailer...

      It would be a fun project to build a trailer from aluminum. There is a few things that your have to think about first: you must increase the size and thickness of your aluminum beams compared to steel and you have to be extra careful to get good penetration on each weld. I am pretty sure that aluminum trailers are built using an aluminum mig welder and not tig, but it would be fun to tig a whole trailer, it will certainly take you more time to build.

    Nice! Welding the safety chains on is not legal in all states.

      @@rgsabat I am from WA state and they don't allow any form of welding chain links, probably an issue from shady logging truck accidents from way back. They do allow sliding a rod, shaft or other means through the link and weld that to the frame just not the links themselves, eliminating any possible chain link repairs. I love working with box tubing on trailers, flatbeds, dump trucks, etc so I enjoyed seeing your trailer, well done. I typically shy away from 45 corners and usually cap the long rails then use same length cross members with 90 ends, much easier to keep all of the dimensions dead on.

    Hello, can you list a pricelist or rough estimate to build this trailer, thanks.

    • @rgsabat
      @rgsabat  3 роки тому +2

      300 Canadian dollars for the axle, 300$ for the tires and wheels, 600$ for the steel, 200$ for the wood, and around 300$ for miscellaneous hardware. It ended up costing me 1700 Canadian dollars to build it.

    Mount spare tire on right side or curb side of trailer in front or behind fender will leave room in front for storage box 📦. One more thing to think of trailer jack will hit your tail gate of your truck make a set back mounting plate . In the a frame .that will work perfectly. 😂😂😂

  • @Jerry-jt4wm

    2×4 box steel for top rail would have been a lot better.
