How sad, you didn't mention my second favorite Patlabor Movie, Patlabor 3. I mean yes, many other Patlabor fans have disliked it but It's something different a new within the Patlabor timeline as it doesnt focus on the Second Davison but two detectives from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police dealing with a monster. Yes I know, very far from the the original Patlabor of labor related stuff as Patlabor 3 has a more horror action feel but I love it due to how more relatable the movie feels, as now your dealing with two people who are completely unprotected on the streets, with jobs that the Tokyo Police would realistically have. I also love it for giving the viewer a peak into the lives of another group of people who are basically just regular people, as we get to see how normal people's lives might be in a world that is filled with Labors and Patlabor's interesting monsters
I don't outright hate it - I like a lot of what Madhouse did with their take on the franchise. I guess where it was more based on concepts of HEADGEAR vs outright made by them is sort of where I joke about it not existing for the video and where a lot of people seem to not like it. Might make a follow-up about the movie as its aesthetics are also on point and some of the animation is banger - same with the TV series and 2nd OVA series. The other issue is that even 10 seconds of footage from it gets the video delisted which I found out when doing periodic test uploads as originally I did have footage from 3.

If you are looking Officially I am pretty sure it is all on Hi-Dive but I could be wrong as its not available in my Country. Sentai Filmworks also has a Blu-ray box set with EVERYTHING in it except the Live Action film - the OVA, All Movies, TV series and TV OVA for about $70 USD (over 2100 Minutes of Content) - this is what I have and use to watch it and would highly recommend it. If you do this keep an eye out during holiday sales which it often drops on sale (I picked it up for $45 CAD+ship for example) Unofficially - I am sure there are places on the high seas to find it all my friend!

Hot take but I prefer the third movie to the first one. Yea ik the third movie wasn’t really about patlabor and the main cast were background characters. But I think the overall plot was solid.
I think its honestly valid - I rewatched it with some friends again this year and maybe it was the atmosphere this time arou d but I ended up liking it way more and thinking of it as its own thing. Just as part of Patlabor overall just seems a bit lackluster and tacked on for brand recognition imho. I wish someone would release the live action stuff on proper BD here as well - might have to do a follow up as I feel the live action is super slept on.
