- On this video we install both the inner fenders, radiator support, the fenders, hood, valance and each bracket that goes with mounting everything on on this 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T. I show how to strip down new parts using a sandblast dusting method. Also in this video I give some fitment and welding tips before sealing the car in epoxy primer.

Thank you very much. I am glad you enjoy it appreciate the comment.
Fine job. 👍
Thank you very much!
The Challenger is coming up a treat. Looking forward to more vids. Thanks
You are welcome and thanks for following along!
I never thought to use spot welds for appearance and mig weld next to it for strength. That’s clever. while pulling apart my swinger for rust repair i found a bunch of factory spot welds that had no penetration and didn’t hold. Mig welds are definitely way stronger!
I agree I think a good quality MIG is stronger. That's why most of the times I add so many extra spot welds.
Great Job 🍻 , this Is one of the Best restorations ,great skills 🍺
Thank you very much!
Thank you Rick.
Amazing job👌🏻👍🏻
Thank you very much
Another great, informative, interesting video Rick!
Thank you very much!

Thank you!
Another great video, I always look forward to watching your builds thanks for all the information
You are welcome, it really means a lot the support in following along and commenting, thank you.
Hope all is going well. Hope to see some progress soon.
Thanks for checking in, then inner structure was a big job and had to build the entire car before finishing it. Work is just about complete just in the editing phase. I will hopefully post a video really soon on this car.
Great video! Love the build! Love the extra effort even though it's not fun and exciting to most viewers it is important in my opinion!
Thank you and I am glad the message translates as I agree too many that care about restoring can't find the right info on how to go about doing it.
Even if the front valence is rusted through there is a good argument for beating it into shape, fitting it, sorting the alignment and then throwing it for a new one. You don’t have to; “was it always like that” bit :o)
I like to try and keep as many of the parts that are practical and will look just as good when the project in the long run. The valance will check those boxes I think.
Another awesome video.... that's gonna be one sweet ride!!!
Thank you very much and yes I am excited for the owner to get it back.
Great video as always! You’re making them better than factory! Love it!
Thank you very much!
Very good content always looking forward to seeing more....thanks👍🔧
Thanks a lot I appreciate you following along!
looking towards the day you show us how to section a frame rail.....Thanks
Hopefully we can get something in the shop that needs one sectioned soon, thanks!
Another great video Rick, it did not disappoint. Nice to hear the firebird is still on the radar... Thank you for sharing.
You are welcome and thanks for the kind words. I have a plan and timeline on the firebird so there will be more content on it soon. Plus I need that frame JIG for another build.
Love your work, very professional. You know e bodies
Thank you very much for the kind words.
Looks great man, I always enjoy the videos a lot. Keep up the AWESOME work!
Thanks a lot and will do!
Another great video Rick! Its coming along nicely! Can't wait for the next one
Thank you very much.
I told my guys to make a UA-cam channel up. We build cars. Not too many people doing what you do and I think that they would be great at it.
Nice good luck to them if they decide to go that route, its a lot of extra work in the editing phase and takes a while for the channel to actually gain some steam so don't expect overnight success.
Another great video. This is a suggestion if you’re not already doing this. Have you thought of adding a badge or build sheet to these cars with what was done. Your work should be part of a historic record on the car. What would be cool is a badge with pluggable USB drive with BOM, videos etc.
Just a thought.
Thanks!
That is a really great idea. I have not done anything like that to this point. Honestly I leave it up to the owners as its their car and I am just the guy putting them together but I know some of these cars that have been on the channel the owners really tell people to check out their cars and follow along.
@@carthageclassiccars Most see cars as transportation A to B but these older muscle cars are pieces of artwork that have been neglected over the years. I’ve seen so many of these beauties butchered made to look pristine. You are one of about 8 people in the US that truly do it right.
I agree 100% and its sad to see a lot of the collector cars in the industry ruined by the money and making that quick dollar
Hey Rick
I think I just saw this car at a shop in Asheboro today.
Nice job
It wasn't this one as this Challenger is still in my shop. Possibly a Cuda? There is a Cuda I built recently at a paint shop up in that area
Man that sucks. I didn’t get notified for the livestream.
Sorry you missed it but glad you were able to watch and comment, thanks
Always amazing work Rick looking forward to see the back half of this build, question do you own a Cuda
Thanks a lot. Yes I do have a Barracuda.
Hey Rick i have a very specific quesiton. I did some rust removal, ospho and primer in the inner strucure between the quarter panel as i witn have access after the quarter is on. Problem is i did that and then i stripped the inside and now the paint peeled. That was stupid of me i should have sanded both sides. Problem that i am having now is i stripped the entire inside of the floor and trunk and its alreayd flash rusting bad. Can i put down ospho and still strio the other side of the metak under the car without affecting ospho? Asking because its going to take a long time to strip the bottom and i wanted to finish a stage inside. Or is it a bad idea?
I am assuming you just want to epoxy 1 time and that is the idea with all bare metal and not priming the extra parts. What are you using to strip the car? Do you think the heat is hurting the epoxy or chemical stripping? I am asking because once I put epoxy on a car its a huge pain in the a$$ to get it off again. Maybe that spary can epoxy isn't as good what I am wondering. To answer your main question yes you should be able to coat in ospho lightly and hopefully stop the flash rusting and not affect it at least by da sanding or anything lmechanical.
@@carthageclassiccars so looks like the epoxy was fine itself it was just the Eastwood chassis black that peeled upon closer inpseciltion. Since the primer is in tact I think the ospho should be fine too. I think the single stage paints have really lousy life with higher heat. The spray can epoxy actually is super strong I was surprised its held up that well super hard to remove. Thanks again man this helped me I'm moving on !
@@SubdivisionAuto Ah ok I see now. So saying that I am not a fan of the eastwood chassis black either. I had it give me trouble and a similar situation. That stuff just is no good especially for the price. The only time I have had any luck is on bare metal and using their primer.
@@carthageclassiccars yeah it's over hyped I must say. It's fine for areas that get no moisture or traffic but I wouldn't use it on any external metal.
👍
Thanks
Excellent work!
What weld thru primer brand you use?
Thank you and 20-1675 Seymour PBE Self Etching/Weld-Thru Primer
@carthageclassiccars Thank you, I'm going to try the Upol sink weld thru, some one did a test in salt water and did well
@@pedrokim7435 Let me know what you think of it
What brand band say do you use to grind your welds down with >? Thanks
Honestly the one used most in the video is just the cheap tezoro as I also had a nice Jegs brand but I kept breaking the front roller wheels. This cheaper brand you can buy the replacement wheels so its more convenient for me as much as I use it.
You’re always keeping waiting for the new video to come out. 😅
Thanks I have been trying to get them out in a somewhat timely manner
@@carthageclassiccars It’s all good. You’re a busy guy and these videos take a lot of time as well. You have great work ethic, that’s for sure.
Why all the drama just to start a video
UA-cam does that I haven't figured out how to set it differently
What drama?
@@jeffallen3382 It was the countdown for the premier waiting for the video to start from the 2 min mark
@@carthageclassiccars that's not drama. Every UA-cam video live premiere does that.
Great work!!
Thanks!
