Plants placing is good to visualize how u want ur yard to look like after . The Succies variety give diff texture & dimension . The rocks n boulder added appeal to over all impact to knit all together . ❤️ it 😊
@@atoowoombasucculentgarden I've just found your channel WOW I'm on the Sunshine Coast . You are so amazing in what you do. Absolutely blows my mind . Totally in awe.
Well done, you’ve done good job of tightening it up & pulling it together. It looks intentional & the individual plants look well plus the overall effect is very pleasing!
Thank you! I was surprised at the variety available for $3-$5 at the local weekend markets, so I stocked up early and most are growing well! Also got lots of varieties for free at the local plant group meetings. Now I'm working on downsizing!
Hello, New subscriber here. So happy to have found your channel. So inspiring! I have a small space that I’m redoing also . Before it had other plants not cacti or succulents. So I’ve been transplanting them to other areas. Now I’m ready to start planting my succulents and cacti. I’m so excited. I have straight lines and I love curves. I really like that your space is all top dressing no distinction between walking space and the garden bed. I’m going to try and make that look thank you for sharing your video. 😍❤️🌵
Thank you, it makes me so happy that you like the seamless look too. I often think of using different gravels to create distinct zones and artful shapes, but I also love the more 'natural' look of a garden with only one type of stone. Beginning is so exciting; I really enjoyed spending hours planning and sketching and staring at the space, imagining what could be. Actually moving the soil and rock is hard work, but so worth it in the end when you can relax and watch your plants grow. Good luck!
Thank you! I do have trouble with mealies, mostly on plants under the eaves of the house that stay too dry. I've tried several things. I used to spray isopropyl alcohol 70% until I saw LizK prove that does nothing, so then I tried methylated spirits like she does, but that burned my plants. At the moment, I crush individual bugs by hand, or spray any plant I see ants on every 3 or so days with neem oil dilution (plus a drop or 2 of dish soap or soil wetter). If the neem doesn't improve things in a week or two, I sprinkle a powder systemic containing imidacloprid around the base of the plant, making sure to remove any flowers to prevent killing pollinators. For root mealies, I soak the roots and surrounding soil in neem oil dilution, or the systemic powder if that doesn't work. I once used Yates scale gun, which worked fine, but only lasted a handful of treatments before the bottle was empty. Neem oil and systemic powder last longer on a garden-size scale. I just make sure the neem is applied after midday, although I haven't had any trouble with scorched plants yet. I'm gradually removing the most pest-prone plants from my garden, although sempervivums seem especially susceptible and I can't bring myself to get rid of them yet.
I've bought from Toowoomba Landscape Supplies on North Street and Garden City Landscape Centre on Boundary Road. Both have very friendly and helpful staff. I usually go to Garden City now because I can pick out individual boulders there, while Toowoomba Landscape supplies only sell boulders by the scoop (although they do have varying stock of one-off special rocks, such as petrified wood stumps). They have slightly different pebble ranges, most are listed on their websites, though Garden City has chunkier gravels that TLS doesn't. I find it fun just to visit and look around!
@@atoowoombasucculentgarden can i ask you what soil mix do you use in the garden?most of my plants are potted and i like to put tbem in the garden,i use bags of premium soil mix and scoria as my mix but find it hard to get bulk of scoria here in toowoomba
Nice job well done👍
