Why The Hell Does Lugnut Cost This Much?? | #transformers Reveal The Shield Voyager Lugnut - Розваги
I have a funny memory regarding this guy. One day I was playing in my basement and said something along the lines of "Man, I wish I had more Transformers." My dad overheard me and led me to the closet in his office where he then pulled out RTS Lugnut still in his box. Since then, Lugnut is still on my shelves. Such a great figure. Thanks, dad!
That's crazy, I wonder why he had it in there? That's a great random surprise.
Very based and cool dad.
Awesome dad
amazing dad
your dad seeing the price of it now: " IS IT SECRET, IS IT SAFE??"
$200 is way too overpriced for this toy. I hope Hasbro gives us a fantastic Lugnut soon and with a decent *AFFORDABLE* price that isn’t half my rent.
Bro this figure was available for an affordable price back then, blame the greedy sellers who know this figure isn't being made anymore and just want to up the price
@@Kaiju-bm4ts very true!
@@Kaiju-bm4tsin my defense, I didn’t know this figure existed until a year ago.
@@Kaiju-bm4ts blame the collectors who pay the prices. people would ask more reasonable prices if people weren't willing to pay it.
@@Lazrael32 Bro you can't blame the buyers, they just buy the product, they don't determine how much it cost. The blame falls on the sellers for overpricing something that isn't worth said price
So here's the thing. Lugnut *was* rare back in the day. For some reason, he never hit mass retail until the very *very* tail end of the line and just went straight to those discount stores in limited quantities. It was great if you managed to find him in 2011 because he was like $15 from TJMaxx, but past that, you were absolutely shit outta luck. On top of him now being a cult character, yeah that's why he's rare and expensive.
Wdym by cult character?
@@Lu1zF3l1pehe wasn't completely known
@Lu1zF3l1pe not a mainstream character but one with a loyal following from more hardcore fans
I was lucky enough to snag one at TJ Maxx. One of my all fime favorite figures
I want this toy so bad, not because he's cool, but because he transformers into what my great grandfather flew in WWII
Me too
He flew a jet in the 40s?

So he should be freee

With Animated Lugnut winning the hall of fame vote in 2022, I hope that Hasbro makes or announces a new Lugnut figure at the tail end of Legacy United or in it's sequel toyline.
I rememember finding this guy MISB for 35 bucks at Botcon 2016 when i was a kid. I thought that price was outrageous for a voyager. My mom haggled it down to 30, and I still have it to this day. Thanks Mom!!!
Thats great! W mom!
I went to a toy expo with my mother because she collects barbies and I collect lego.
That woman basically shoved me aside and haggled the shit out of so many sets for me. She was sweet talking and strong arming left right and centre.
No one stood a chance. I reckon she saved me hundreds that day.
I still have this one!
I remember playing with him back in the day, shit would always go down whenever he showed up.
His jet mode is just so imposing, and he could flip out the giant cannon to rain hell from above! Imagine autobots running, screaming for cover, only for him to transform to land in the iron man pose in front of them, cutting off their escape...
There's just so much cool stuff this guy could do. Also his giant articulated hands meant there were some other toys he could actually just pick up with one hand and hold by their collar! Then you could turn his other hand back into a wing, giving him a giant arm blade to threaten them with.
I also mostly had deluxes, so him being a voyager meant he stood head and shoulders above everyone he was fighting, adding tons to his menace. Such a good time playing with this toy.
Now THIS was Legacy done well. Generations/2010 was a tribute for all continuities and gave them definitive REAL vehicles and keeping their colors, rather than blockifying/geewunning every design they touch. Sergeant Kup being a badass example
That is one my favorite Kup figures, probably the only time he will ever have an Earth mode and it was a great adaption.
Yea, nahh, bro. You're all wrong. OG Generations/2010 was probably good, but that doesn't mean Legacy is bad at all. On the contrary, its actually really, really great! Most characters aren't even being G1-ified. They're more-so being Generations-ified, if at all. No, Generations-ifying isn't the same as G1-ifying; they're basically being changed _SLIGHTLY_ (if at all) to better fit in the Generations style. 9/10 figures who are affected by Generations-ification are really, really good. There are a few exceptions, tho, such as Shadowstriker, Strongarm, & especially Legarcee. Keep coping, bro.
@@fennekin1750 please get a job immediately
You're exactly right. This is what I want the next line to be. Modern redesigns of characters and original characters. Give me Preceptor as a half-track and hotspot as a modern fire engine, give me F-22 Starscream, Give me freak’n bomber Megatron!
I don't want G1 redone again, I crave originality.
@@alobaymar First off, thats none of your business if I have a job or not. Second, this has nothing to do with anything here. Third, its not like you have a job (if it was my business, which it is not). Fourth, butt out.
When this was released it was hard to come by in certain areas. I never saw it in my area and ordered it from eBay back in the day for around $50
I love this figure, but I had to get two copies because my first one started to develop a stress mark that evolved into a crack to form the hunch on his back. Couple years later, the joint holding his leg together just broke.
I love him, and I hope this guy gets a much bigger figure in the future
Yo the same thing happened with the legs on mine - I have two copies and BOTH of them had the legs come apart at the knees and needed to be superglued back together. In addition, my first copy had two right wing tips. I wonder if breaking and/or QC issues made this toy extra scarce, and drove up the price.
If they ever make a modern remake for Lugnut, they better go above and beyond to make him resemble this. *This is truly a Transformers collector's dream.*
I think the only Lugnut I have is from McDonald's. 😂
If that's what I think it is, I had it too when I was in preschool lol. Don't remember what eventually happened to it
I had an Animated Lugnut but I lost bits or it got given away I don't remember.
Is that the Wreck 'n' Rule Bulkhead you got from DrLockdown? Seeing him in the TryTreats box was honestly kind of adorable.
Probably.

I always thought "Lugnut" was a weird name for a giant scary decepticon like him.🤣
He was called "Lugnut" because that was approximately the size of his brain.
Basically pea-sized for Transformer standards
Man I remember thinking Windcharger was the most frustrating figure to find in the RtS line. At least now I can find that at under $20 on eBay.
I got that guy for £4 back in 2022 second hand in a shop, didn't realise he was rare
When I bought mine, he was very incomplete and still costed about a hundred dollars.
re:sponsor, to quote lewa:
TREATSNACK?
He's expensive because of his lug-"nuts"
i'm gonna say it....HASBRO, GIVE US A NEW LUGNUT FIGURE!!
One feature you didn't mention: remember those c-clip accessories they released with a bunch of toys back then? Count how many mounting points Lugnut has. Then look again and consider how many of those could comfortably accommodate more than one accessory. It's a shame he didn't come with any accessories of his own, but he is an absolute beast in every possible way.
He's so good. I got mine a couple of years ago
One reason I think he’s so expensive is that many of them might have broken. I have two - my first one was a manufacturer error with two right wing tips. And on *both* my copies, his legs came apart at the knees and had to be superglued back together. I remember his aftermarket price inflated really quickly. My second one cost me like $60 and that was just like 6mo to a year after he first came out, and it’s only gone up since then.
Has nothing to do with why he is expensive
The punching gimmick reminds me of Tantrum's weapon from BattleBots!
But damn, I'd have to work my _lugnuts_ off to afford this thing...
Maybe I'll stick to Warhamm- oh! Their prices just went again too! What a surprise!
Man this thing would find a beautiful spot on my Bumblebee Movie shelf. It’s unfortunate it cost so much
They don't need to make a new mold of Lugnut, just rerelease this mold! It's too perfect!
This era of Voyagers still has some of my favorite Transformers, the Bludgeon, Lugnut, and Mindwipe molds are still pretty good.
Yeah I never saw Lugnut in the wild, and now he's ridiculous expensive. I'd love a big release in Legacy if only to maybe drop THIS versions price.
"He can now poop his own missile"
Oh boy, Lugnut sure does love to have an audience when he's doin it.
Crazy coincidence, this guy has always been my grail as well. Had a good bunch of side jobs last year and finally saved enough money to buy it. Yeah, the $130 I spent packed a punch, but he was so worth it in the end. Lugnut, Powerdive, Lockdown, Mindwipe, Jetblade, Terradive, Hailstorm... ROTF, HFTD and RTS were full of unique and iconic designs, and the Decepticons definitely got the best treatment.. I hope HasTak revisit those characters given that Concept Art and Gamer Edition are a thing now.
I've had this toy in my closet for over 8 years, and only NOW do I learn how to properly transform it. When I was younger I only ended up transforming it half way, cuz I don't believe I ever read the instructions. If I were to guess why, I assume I got my copy at a thrift store, which was common for me.
The transformation steps I didn't do were:
1. Flip the upper thighs around; so he stood tall and lanky.
2. Snap the torso into place; Because I guess I never noticed the 2 pegs on the torso.
3. Shift the thruster/wings section forward; because I didn't realize that was movable.
4. Compress the backpack; idk about others, but my copy's backpack was EXTREMELY tight and only went so far. I only attempted to push it in further after watching this video, and analyzing the mechanism. It took a LOT of force to get into it's proper place for both robot and plane mode.
But after doing all those missed steps years later, I gained a whole new appreciation for this toy. It went from an unstable spaghetti, to a competent figure I thoroughly enjoy.
Thank you, Mr. T. T. Guy for showing me just how cool this little wingnut is.
(Also, you can flip the cockpit hatch down in robot mode to give him a funny, comically large hat)
4:27 that was a puntastic line!👍👍👍
Lol I forget that double leg spin step every time I transform this guy
Me looking at my Lugnut figure I've regularly played with since I was 16: "I always knew you were special."
One of those toys I never put in storage, and moved with me across country. So good.
Man, now _this_ is a surprise to suddenly see pop-up. I can definitely understand why this guy would be a 'grail' class figure that you've been hunting for, as ever since I first got one back around when it first came out, Reveal the Shield Lugnut has remained my single favorite Transformers figure I've ever owned, so I'm honestly kinda glad you were able to finally get one for yourself.
There's just something that's so… weirdly perfect about the way this mold came out, with how incredibly faithful it is to Lugnut as a character while _also_ having totally nailed re-imagining his original Animated design from the ground up to fit in with the more realistic esthetic of the Generations-style toylines of the time, having what is probably _still_ my favorite looking plane design out of any airplane based apt-mode Transformer, on top of also just having _so much_ articulation, interesting engineering, and raw massed packed into it despite only being a Voyager class figure, that to this day it's still the measuring stick that I compare new Transformer figures that I'm interested in getting to.
Oh, and as a small little thing, while Lugnut doesn't really come with any extra accessories outside of the missile for the artillery cannon like you mentioned, something I always liked to do for displaying him or just when messing around with him in general was partially transform just the end of one his arms back into its plane configuration, since due to the way they went about designing his arms, the hand swirling back around to lock the wing-tip into place kind of gives it the appearance of having transformed into Bayverse-Optimus style armblade if it's done while still in robot mode (especially so if it's also extended outwards via the punching gimmick mechanism so teh forearm doesn't look like one solid chunk of wing), all without taking away any of the rest of the arm's articulation save for the finger joints.
I am so happy I got this guy in the store way back when. It’s insane how much I’d be able to sell him for if I wanted, but he is SUCH a good toy that I never would.😊
The fact the gimmick doesn't screw up the transformation at all is really cool. I do wish I got it back when it was out, but fairly sure it wasn't around here in the UK >.>
Hehe.
For my middle school graduation (I'm almost done with my junior year of highschool,) my dad gifted me not only RTS Lugnut, but also POTP Inferno, Elita 1, and Hun-Grr for $100 (American) as a bundle from an OfferUp seller. I knew this Lugnut was a well-loved item back then, but I didn't know he was considered "rare" when I got him.
And yes, I opened up and played with all of them. Luggsy now stands with his fellow Decepticons to this day. My dad now says Lugnut is one of his favorites thanks to the alt mode.
It feels like the prices for this figure have gone up a lot more due to the recent Legacy Animated toys. I managed to get mine on mercari back in 2021 for $95, so seeing what he goes for 3 years later is insane
i have great memories if getting this guy from a discount shop called home bargains for £7, this was the last real transformer i ever bought before i stopped collecting, i have picked up maybe two or three G1 figures from carboot sales or conventions since then but never bought anything else.
all of my transformers are packed away in the attic except a few, G1 springer, G1 rodimus prime, titanium g1 ultra magnus, rotf voyager mixmaster, rotf legends devastator.... and rts lugnut. lugnut was the perfect figure, amazing bomber mode, amazing robot mode, great articulation, he was the perfect way to end my transformers collection.
the only figure i have desperately wanted since was the leader blackout, but due to being a poor uni student who had other hobbies and no shops around where i live stocking them at the time, i was never able to get blackout. maybe one day
Bros punching gimmick reminds me of Zeus from Real Steel. Does anyone else but me remember that movie?
Ong I do
I'm so happy to be one of the lucky few who found him at Ross. He's one of the crown jewels of my collection and I'm never letting him go.
I still have the box. I use it to store Spychangers. It still has the $9.99 tag on it.
1:03 Holy shit it's
KOHRAK, THE ICE BOHROK!
*ABLE TO SHOOT ICY BLASTS FROM THEIR CLAWS!!*
dude. i remember seeing this in TJ max AND ross. they sold this guy for less than 20 dollars i think. my cousin bought the starscream (leader class) for me and optimus (leader class) himself for about 19.99 (ross) or 23.99 (tj max), not sure where he got them from but it literally started my toy collection journey. i remember these in the stores for like a year and nobody was buying any of these.
i did catch the costo exclusive bumblebee with metallic finish and a mini bumblebee+mudflap in TJ max. after a few weeks, i ended up getting like 7 of them for 34.99 each. i kept 3 for myself (1 out of box, 2 still sealed), sold/gifted rest.
I used to have this figure back in the day and I really regret selling him
Ahh, yes, my favorite Decepticon. I'm excited for when they finally decide to make a new one, hope hes a leader class.
Honestly, most of the voyagers from this line I consider grails, lugnut, seaspray, bludgeon, highbrow, all incredible figures
FYI: If you have a Diaclone set, you can fit one of the Dia-Naut figures in the cockpit in plane mode.
Such a great find & unique figure! For some reason Hasbro hasn't been able to update this version (like RID Megatron). I'm so glad I was able to get a new one for $80(US) a few years ago!!!
That thing is sweet. The wings remind me of Toyworld's Aerolite (WWII Starscream), I wonder if they took some inspiration from this guy.
Honestly, the Sponsor put a big smile ln my face, I'm Irish, so its fun seeing your dad react to our 'cuisine'
I'm very happy to say I've had this one since childhood, complete with the original missile too. So happy to have it side by side with an original animated Lugnut
I had this guy when I was a kid and used him as a discount Jetfire from ROTF, he was awesome, I wonder if I broke him during those years
Great review, Sir! Great haul too!
I noticed that you got a Quake Blast in the trade. I have to say, it's one of the nicest 3rd party TFs that I own, much nicer than the official MP Shockwave. There are some issues you need to be aware of to avoid calamity, though. First, watch out when posing the shoulders, because some positions can actually damage the shoulder joints if you don't move them in a very specific way. Secondly, there is a design flaw in the arm cannon nozzle which will cause it to snap clean off the moment you connect the large alt mode gun barrel. It's best to remove the small clear nozzle from the wrist before attaching the large barrel. Mine came with an extra nozzle because of this issue but if you got this loose it's likely that all the extra little pack-in bits aren't there, so be careful! Otherwise, it's an amazing figure. That deep metallic purple paint is simply breathtaking, and the three led lights are piercingly bright.
Reminds me of how I got my RTS Lugnut back in 2011. He was hidden behind a few Strafes and Solar Storm Grappel and the only Lugnut on the shelf. Paid 15 EU for him back then, since that line was on discount for DotM to hit shelves around that time. It was the only and last time I saw an RTS Lugnut for myself. So glad I got him back then.
Litteraly one of the BEST characters that Transformers animated has ever made right next to Blitzwing. And it's only a crime that we don't have legacy Animated verisons of the duo, because I would by them in a heart beat!!
Always amazing when toys was a thing back when Hasbro did what it did then company moves on and it all disappears almost to never to be seen. Very eerie.
If 14 years seem so many imagine still having the G1 toys you used to play with more than 35 years before! I am happy i still have them, at least most of them!
I absolutely love Lugnut!! I own the Animated one. Loose and MIB! Was working on getting the Atomic version, but not I've gotta get this one first!! I really dig Transformers that actually look like an alien robot. Shockwave and Clobber are among my favorites for this reason! Already searched online for him while watching your video and the price hasn't changed much. Looking at a loose complete and a MIB one too.
Thanks for this video!!! Haven't been this excited for a Transformer in a long while!!
Mahalo, from a Transformer fan in Hawaii 🤙
I made a custom lugnut out of a purple bot bot I bought with Kremzeek, he may be microscopic but I think it’s funnier to have bulkhead’s rival be tiny. Hope to see a new version of this character soon
This guy could easily be retooled into Stratosphere from Rise of the Beasts. I think it would look really cool, and it would give collectors another chance to own this awesome mold. It’s kind of funny and also a little frustrating just how many Transformers were made once and never re-issued or retooled/repainted.
A while back I found this guy for an insanely cheap price, only $90!!! I hope you review the APC Dark master(Megatron) toy next.
His alt mode reminds me of a WWII bomber plane, we need more WWII transformers
Really nice find. RTS Lugnut, and HFTD Bludgeon were two figs that have eluded me to this very day as I really wanted both when then were on shelves, but Distribution was and still is a joke here, and I didn't have a credit card to buy them elsewhere. Funny thing about Lugnut is though he predates the Legacy line as a character update he almost fits in with what the line is doing now with animated, and Prime. While seeing Lugnut as an updated Leader would be great to really do this guy justice, at a proper scale he'd almost have to be Commander Class to be any good. SS Blackout already showed a large scale figure at a Leader price point doesn't exactly work as h feels cheap, light, and barely holds together.
This figure is so good! I was super stoked when I found one at my local con for like $30-$40. This was before it randomly became super expensive for some reason. Awesome figure!
Unfortunately, the spring that activates the Punch of Kill Everything on his left arm somehow came unseated from where it's supposed to be so I had to perform surgery to remove it thus disabling the gimmick. Very sad.
I think his scarcity is due to him being legit good toy, so collectors are keeping him. There's like TEN of these on ebay right now as I type this so somewhere the demand exceeded the supply. I got mine back when he was new and he is an amazing toy. I replaced the rub signs with dry rub symbols some years ago. I like the ones I added to his wings since I put them in a place that makes it look like he has Decepticon symbols tattooed on his hands XD Great poses in the video BTW. Really showcases hos advanced the design of this figure was that he can still hang on the shelves next to more modern toys. I somehow doubt a new Legacy figure will be as good as this is.
So glad I got mine in 2013 from Frank and Son for 20 something. With box even! Would never have expected his price to shoot up that much.
That is a really good alt mode. No robot hanging from underneath a plane!
"This is where I'd put my RTS Lugnut... IF I HAD ONE!!"
Fr tho, he's one of my grails, alongside HFTD Seaspray, and like with you, I've passed up on both of them many times over the years, and I regret it a lot. For example, I found a Seaspray for like 20-25 bucks with everything but the missiles a year or two ago and did a stupid by not buying him... oh boy...
Hopefully, with an eventual Lugnut in Legacy or whatever line is next, this one will drop in price, bc good lord, I am not OK with his current asking price.
This is the only figure I bought three seperate times. My first was loose and I botched the fix and ended up reducing him to garbage (I sent several people replacements from that guy). Then I got him again at Botcon 2015 and last year I bought the Takara version. It is rare that I like a figure enough to seek it out multiple times, but Lugnut is worth it (until they make a new one)
Dang, that's super cool! I LOVE how it doesn't just have robot hanging off the bottom! Hasbro needs to start doing their planes like this again! Like come on, that Blitzwing from the Bumblebee movie? Not even trying. Terrible. But now I'm going to keep my eye out for this guy!
Yeah, like, why does he cost a lot of money like why? Hopefully, Legacy United will make an Animated universe Lug-Nut. Plus if you own the Animated Lug-Nut toy with his weapon the Reval The Shield Lug-Nut he can hold the weapon, I saw Emgo's video of the big dude, look amazing.
This is one of those figures that you have to actively search for to get at a decent price, I looked around for him for a year before getting one for $45
You know it's a good video when "Anxiety" but Neffex plays in the beginning.
And yeah, I want the RTS Lugnut so bad, too, but I am NOT paying a second mortgage for one! 😭😭
F*CK YES YOU FINALLY MAKE A TOY REVIEW ON LUGNUT (who are not the animated design)
This figure definitely wasn't easy to find back in the day. When we were little we were in a much more urban area that had very well stocked retail stores and we never saw RTS Lugnut, we never even saw him in the discount stores. We even recall Peaugh and others saying how the figure was a bit difficult to find on UA-cam back then. The price is absolutely still obscene but he definitely is on the rarer side of things due to getting the shaft by being released at the tail end of RTS when it wasn't as well stocked
We really need a new, properly scaled, Leader class rendition of Lugnut, considering (outside of Clobber in Cyberverse) this was the last one we got.
Got chrome dome (one of my favorites!) and Quake?! quake is an odd choice since we're getting a new one, but i actually liked his hardhead repaint. so i'm surprised we're getting a second one. seems like they want to go back to targetmaster figures and give them their target masters.
I"m glad to pick this guy up back in the day. I sold the animated Lugnut when i got this RTS Lugnut.
I really hope we get a new toy of Lugnut. He deserves it!
Im surprised there still ain’t a listing for an animated lugnut, especially considering that fan vote from one or two years ago
He was a fun character with a nice toy that ended up at the end of a line so it didn't get good distribution.
I'm so glad I picked this guy up so many years ago. He's such a fun toy!
For me, Tf Gens Lugnut are considered as HTFD or ROTF due to influence live-action but they changed him into G1. Which he is quite rare
Love the way he scales with Legacy Bulkhead
I got the Takara Tomy version MISB like 6-7 years ago. Paid 60USD for it.
He costs a ton because stores were making room for DOTM, so they didn’t want the wave Lugnut was in to clog up shelves for the new movie. This meant very few random clothing stores stocked it.
So he was rare even back then, just not for the usual reasons.
lugnut used to be my holy grail too, hes super good, one of the few figures that i still have on my shelf after leaving the whole transformers collecting thing..
I remember that a third-party company which I can't remember the name of made World War Two Versions of Bumblebee and Hot Rod, which were from Transformers the last night movie. (And even though these 3 characters weren't in the movie, they did them anyways), which was barricade ,jetfire, and cliffjumper. They also did the seekers as buy planes like starscream, skywarp, and thundercracker. They had more Transformer Characters planned that were going to be vehicles from World War 2. Which was optimus prime, the dreads from TF:dark of the moon, megatron, brawl ,and lugnut. Now, so far, there has been no news. If this third-party company is going to come out with Them. All I can say is. I hope they make them because I'm going to get that lugnut and brawl.
I feel like I maybe saw this in stores as a kid but when you’re a kid parents will usually only get you deluxes and legends. Voyagers were kind of a rare delicacy then
I got mine for $10 at a yard sale just last year I didn’t know it was THAT MUCH 😮
A straight re-release would be unlikely, but an update as a Voyager or Leader class for Legacy would be pretty cool - the only problenm then is that Hasbro likes to be able to do two or three repaints per mold, and who else are they going to get from this? Galaxy Force/TF: Cybertron Jetfire, maybe? Not a close match, but at least a similar kind of aircraft, with a new head and the right color scheme. The figures going for so dear on the secondary market is a big neon flag waving to say there's money to be made from the character if they offered one, at a minimum, just like 86 Grimlock getting a re-release next year.
I felt my joints *creak* when you said this toy was now 13 years old now.
Primus.
the missed oppurtunity to make this into a rotf grindor.
Flying Fortress is an understatement.
Also if they just removed the gimmicks this would be a great modern toy.
actually, most of the Reveal the Shield line NEVER made it it proper retail stores. They only showed up at discount places, so even back then these toys were kind hard to find.
3 years ago i found him second hand online for €15!!! Only thing missing was the missile. But that was a great moment!
love the vids man!!
I found this guy while going through my collection, still new in package like most. The funny thing is that I didn't even want him, I just bought the whole wave with Grapple!
