Lugnut is basically the anti-starscream. Starscream turns into a sleek fighter jet, Lugnut turns into a bulky bomber. Starscream is somewhat intelligent, Fast and Crafty, but is an opportunistic backstabber. Lugnut is obsessively loyal and physically strong, But stupid and slow. Starscream is a franchise mainstay, Lugnut really only appears in animated outside of a few toys and comics Lugnut really needs to be in more stuff
I agree. Also some designs of him outside Animated makes him kinda look skinny a bit. If he shows up in the legacy toy line, I hope he gets more bulk. I hope we can see more of this loyal one eyed Megatron fanboy (technically five but you get it lol)

It's definitely different, almost certainly they recorded the script for the opening three parter/movie at a different time before the rest of the first season. It's possible they hadn't even truly cast Lugnut for that since he only has the one line really. Perhaps they later decided to have David do the character full time 🤷♂️
I love Lugnut so much I'm mad at myself for never owning a toy of him. Not even once. What's worse is trying to find his Animated or Reveal the Shield toys for a cheap price and complete is impossible.

To make the Decepticons feel much more threatening and intimidating as villains. You can see this done to many other Decepticons throughout the show. Personally, I love the size difference, it makes them intimidating and pretty cool; also, half of them turn into some big vehicles too, so it makes sense.
