If you make a Mulan movie...without "Make a man out of you"... ... DISHONOR! (make a note of this) DISHONOR ON YOU!! DISHONOR ON YOUR ANCESTORS! DISHONOR ON YOUR COW!!
1 and 5 are my favourites. They're what made Mulan my favourite Disney Princess growing up. Mulan is a girl power movie but does so by not focusing on "girl power" but on developing her character. She's not in it for love or personal glory, she does it to save her father and she does it by being smart. Those two points are the driving force of her character and the movie as a whole.
I hate the idea of a secret power within. Keep it the same! Men and woman being equal isn't determined by brute strength but because they can solve similar challenges by taking different approaches. Woman don't have to be equally as strong as men, nor men stronger then other men, to win.
I'm real mad that it won't be a musical. Maybe they want to go a dark direction, but come on, let other studios do that. I think Disney should follow Beauty and the Beast's example; enhancing the source material and giving it more depth.
shady boots I hate musicals to be honest, but Reflection theme song was just too beautiful. It's a bit off with the story, though. Maybe just add it sometimes after credit?
Disney needs to step in and reconsider because a Mulan without Ill make a man out of you is a cancelled project. There is NO Disney Mulan without that song
They never confirmed anything about the songs. The director actually addressed this issue after the backlash and said that she didn't mean that there definitely wouldn't be any songs. I mean, she hasn't even started working on it yet. She meant that they hadn't came to any decision about the role of the songs in the movie yet. Jesus, people need to chill the fuck out about this. It's not even that big of a deal.
h6hfelie YES! Freaking PLEASE! Keep it historically and culturally accurate and people can SHUT UP about sexism and just freaking enjoy the movie and its accuracy was 😒
I really liked #5 I think it should be about her bravery and selflessness, not about trying to be better than the guys. She learned to like playing with the guys, not against them.
I dislike her having a inner strength power so much. Like you said, the whole point is that she is behind from everyone else because she is at a disadvantage. Giving her a "special power" would be like letting her cheat a way to the finish line. She needs to suffer, fall behind, figure out her own strengths, and reach the top to retrieve the arrow on her own. no special power needed.
Im afraid the script for this thing has been taken over by hardcore SJWs since it was done before the release of Ghostbusters and the Trump vitory in election. Hopefully B&B success manages to tame it somewhat.
Actually in the chinese legend Mulan was already a great warrior before joining the army because her father taught her from a young age. She became a general and was never found to be a woman for the 12 years that the war lasted... Sorry my bad english.. I dont normally coment because of that... But i do love your show...
Should eddie murphy come back as Mushu? Which by the way I hope they keep the friendship between her and the dragon as I felt that was crucial to both characters.
Which is why I asked should, after all the movie needs to appeal to western audiences, maybe all characters on screen should be asian but Mushu could be voiced by anyone. Assuming they bring him in and if he's comedic.
ryan holt I really hope they do this live-action film justice. Especially being of Asian heritage myself it would be great to not only see such an iconic Disney heroine be made greater but also have a wider scope of recognition for Asian culture on film :)
Grace I am a new subscriber and can I just say that you are a breath of fresh air! 😊 I love your formula to your videos and how in depth they are. I hope you have a wonderful day and a great rest of the year
I can't agree with you more on #5. I don't want a cringey girl power movie. I fell in love with Mulan because over her dedication to her family, her conviction to accomplish her goals, and her intelligence to work around difficult problems (It also helps that I am Chinese and she was the only Chinese disney princess!). She kicked ass but didn't brag about it. She was quietly confident in a way I really connected to. While some people complain that she goes through this epic journey only to return home, I admire that. She didn't want fame or glory. She did what she had to do to protect her family and then she went home to them because family is what matters most to her. I actually wouldn't mind that much if the songs were cut out, although it pains me to think about Mulan without Reflection.
We tend to disagree a lot Grace, but I think you're spot on here. I'm glad Beauty and the Beast managed to make a solid feminist movie without it ruining the whole thing, but Mulan has a much higher chance of that happening. Honestly, if they just do everything that you said here (in addition too mostly Chinese actors. We don't want another Ghost in the Shell.), we could have a solid movie.
Another aspect of the animated film that I think is important not to lose in the transition to live action is how Shan Yu treats Mulan. Almost uniquely among the characters in the film, he doesn't care that she's a woman. As soon as she puts on her "Ping face," he recognizes her as the soldier from the mountain who wiped out 99% of his army single-handedly and treats her as Enemy Number One, but he never makes a deal out of the fact that she's a woman. That was always a nice touch.
In ancient China they really had a bunch of tough female generals so clearly they were able to keep up with the men. My guess is speed, agile & smart equalise things.
Thats the way they were going, no songs because "Make a man out of you" and no Shang because Mulan "Is an independent woman dont dont need no man". Hopefully Beauty and the Beast helps them reconsider.
in the Chinese movie Mulan Joins the Army (1939), Mulan and Shang are equals in rank but then she rises in ranks until she is the general while Shang stays a soldier. So perhaps they want this Mulan to be more in tune with the Chinese version rather than the Disney one, in this regard.
I feel like there's such a good PG-13 or even R rated movie lurking beneath Mulan if the music gets cut, which Disney won't do of course, so might as well keep the music and the comedy. I'm hoping that Sony will take it in a completely different direction tho.
An R rated Mulan is out of the question but Disney has made live action PG-13 films before. I can easily see this upped to PG or PG-13 depending on how dark they want to go with it.
I agree with so much about this, however point number 4 was the only one I didn't really see eye-to-eye with. I appreciate her risking her life more without training or knowledge of how things will be there. She may not be about "girl power" but that doesn't mean she needs to have a male-given reason for her bravery and self-discovered abilities.
They're making this version of Mulan is supposed to be very gritty. My reaction. "Mushu has no place on a gritty movie. But you can't have Mulan without Mushu!"
my top five ideas 1. stylistic like in silence 2. go pg-13 route (although it could) 3. don't shy away with the dark tone 4. have really cool music 5. have the battle scenes look really cool
I think the idea behind Mulan is definitely the "strategy" you mentioned. The movie shows women can also think and excell and generally have a working brain. Everything she does around the house (remember the dog with the feed and the chickens) down to having a second cup for her father's tea shows her forethought and intelligence. She's definitely a master strategist in the movie who trains her body to withstand certain physical stress. It's not unheard of at all in a historical context.
I've heard some things such as making it more of a girly martial arts movie without any songs, or Shang, instead opting for another character. So I'm not really looking forward to it. Hopefully if they keep it close to the Animated movie with the songs and that, hopefully it will be all okay.
I would also say spend more time with Mulan growing up and developing her identity. I think the combination of her father being a legendary warrior, and also being an only child, would be a good catalyst for her decisions later on. I think spending time showing her younger or just more time with her family, would be good in solidifying who she is.
The music NEEDS to be in there!! Reflection and I'll Make a Man Out of You are ICONIC Disney songs! Maybe Lea Salonga(the singing voice of Milan and Jasmine and a Broadway star in her own right) can make a cameo? And I think it's a great idea to give her parents a song or two.
Donovan Brown Every Chinese actress. There is no way they're gonna let someone who's not Chinese play this, because Mulan's story is so cherished and important in Chinese culture. Plus Disney wants Chinese market.
I really hope they won't forget to make her humble and selfless. She didn't complain about having to marry a stranger for her parents' sake and she wasn't boasting about her success. I'm very sceptical already if they remove her and Shang's relationship. Also, I hope they change Fa to Hua to make it a little more accurate.
As for the male lead, I would like to nominate Aarif Lee to play the role of Li Shang (or Chen Honghui in this case). He's a good actor, got some nice background in martial arts and even played the role of young Bruce Lee before. Also he can speak fluent English and Mandarin and can even sing very well too! Would be perfect if he gets the role since he's pretty popular in China.
Grace, I agree with your comments with the exception that she wins by superior tactics, not strategy. I never felt she had much of a strategy and surprises moved the plot along rather than any plan of Mulan's.
#4 would also be good because according to legend, the real Mulan came from a family that was very practiced in martial arts and she was very talented at Kung Fu and sword fighting even before she took her father's place in the war.
what I want: Eddie murphy as mushu and not getting a major personality overhaul Yao Ping and Chien Po being their goofy selves but not to the point of being incompetent Shang being slightly more of a hardass (by which I mean him being more of a product of his time and really struggle with the possibility of executing Mulan regardless of life debt) showing Mulan not fitting in and her song being longer ( we need the docile lamb line back) but not to the point of her being a conscious brat the emperor being a badass and given a name what I don't want Mulan being a glory hound her being automatically better then the guys relying on horrible double standards regarding who's right and whos wrong (these three sort of run into each other) the mood changing too much (yes it does need to be serious its a war movie after all but there is still comedy in it its a Disney film after all) don't water it down for the sake of political correctness (make the attitudes known and don't make Mulan a shrill harpy) at the same time make sure the civilians aren't to nasty (again make Mulan enlisting out of wanting to save her dad not wanting to escape her monotonous life)
Milan was ALWAYS my favorite movie. A woman who is kicking ass and taking no prisoners. I wish these were the types of movies little girls were seeing today that you can do it as a young girl in a tough world!
For number 4 I think her already knowing how to battle takes away from the heart and emotion of her going to war without knowing how. Like it says more about her bravery if she goes without even knowing anything to protect her father. And it takes away the need for mushoo a little bit as he is her guide. I probably spelled that wrong lol.
No music please, B&B is a fairy tale, and the broadway-ish look fit the songs and worked. I want this Mulan to be a war film and not page by page with the animated film (My top 2 animated film btw).
Excellent analysis as usual, Ms. Randolph! Watching this was the highlight of my morning! (Not joking) I want my children to have the passion, enthusiasm, and perceptiveness for whatever they do that you obviously have for what you do. Great work, and thank you!
Phillipa Soo would legit be the perfect Mulan. She is of Chinese descent, she could bring the music to a whole nother level, she's young enough, and she has a relationship with disney already
Pretty interesting review, Grace. As of now I think Jing Tian would be perfect to play Mulan. She can speak fluent Mandarin and nearly fluent English, plus she has got some insane flexibility thanks to her dance skills and martial arts training from her previous works. She even looks like Mulan with her long black hair down!
i dont think mulan practicing is a good idea. Mulan doesnt want to go to war. she feels she HAS to. shes not trying to assume a male role, she just doesnt fit into the typical female one
I really hope the people behind this remake don’t forget to put focus on the fact that Mulan was able to turn the Chinese Confucian tradition of 'filial piety' on its head. Imo Mulan is a super familial character. She stole her ageing father’s armour to protect his life/her family, and to ensure they weren’t all shunned by the rest of the community. Also, by completely rebelling against societal norms/family expectations Mulan was able to fight for AND make her family (and all of China) proud by the end… that aspect of the story always stuck with me. She rebelled/risked it all, proved everyone wrong, and proved how much she loved her family and country. Absolutely agree w/ your point about strategy, Grace. Mulan is a clever/creative critical thinker, she always plays to these strengths (e.g. connecting the weights together to get the arrow, dressing the guys up in drag to trick soldiers), and she’s the only one who saw the Hun’s long game. She may not be the physically strongest in the army, but she’s a survivor who can outwit anyone-strategy is her strength!
The only question now is weather or not they will honor the asian ethnicities in throughout the movie with diversity. That's part of the point of this whole movie, is to educate everyone about other cultures and their customs back during those times. I just hope that they keep deepening this movie, like you said. I like all of your ideas Grace! And yes, I agree that the songs themselves are perfect.
Great ideas Grace! This is my absolute favorite animated movie ever! Trying to do this without the music would be a definite deal breaker . . . those are some of the most catchy toons I've ever heard.
You briefly touched on this in the video, but what are your thoughts that Li Shang would not be interested romantically in Mulan until it is revealed that she is a girl. Many members of the bisexual community, myself included, think that Li Shang was one of the first possibly bisexual characters in movies, and I think that it would take away from the character to lose that aspect.
Hey Grace! I saw somebody mention that you could try a live Movie Math and answer questions LIVE! I just wanted you to know that I think it is a splendid idea and I'd love if you tried it! Thanks for all your fabulous content! ❤
A very intelligent commentary. You've highlighted a lot of issues and aspects that Disney need to start thinking about seriously and from a cinematic perspective. You've nailed what they need to focus on as well, self sacrifice is a beautiful theme in the original movie and I fear that times have changed enough that it is at risk of being throttled by "Girl Power" and "Individualism" as a replacement for her drivers.
In some original versions of the Mulan legend, it is said that her father had already trained her in combat and that's why in the original versions she rose quickly to a position of command in the army --but I also think that the part of the animation where she's learning everything and she's terrible but then suddenly she realises that she can do things HER way and be good that way is so satisfying, so idk which version of that I would prefer
I completely agree with everything you said. I especially enjoy keeping the theme of the movie to be honor. it would be refreshing to get a movie with that message. I also think they will be making a very big mistake not keeping the music or shang. With it competing against Sony's version I very much hope they don't muck up the original.
I love watching MULAN because there is a lot of knowledge that we can get from the character and I think Ms. JANICE HUNG is perfect for that awesome movie
Talking about production design it remind me of Memoirs of a Geisha, how at first the geisha world was so delicate and beautiful, rich and kind of misterious, then after war everything it's just like Grace says, I think it's a wonderful idea
Celina Jade, best known in west for acting Mei in Arrow, is now the obvious choice of casting Mulan after she just became a very successful lead actress of a Chinese movie with 700 million dollars box office. She's a half Caucasian half Chinese actress, singer and song writer, born and well trained in a martial arts family in Hong Kong, fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. She memorized the whole Fa Mulan ancient story in its original way of poem sometime 1,500 years ago.
Completely agree with you Grace! I'm surprised they haven't hired you already to help write these scripts and come up with ideas for films. You're brilliant! :)
I am Chinese, so I am very familiar with the legend of Mulan. The original story of Mulan is a short poem which never say anything about how Mulan does in the army or that she wins the war or anything, except that the war is 12 years long and brutal. But the longer story of Mulan that we know (which stemmed from the poem) is that Mulan is never discovered as a woman, and that she goes up from a common soldier to the rank of a General. So Mulan went as a common soldier and after twelve years of war, she goes home as a General. She only revealed herself as a woman when the soldiers visit her home. That's the Mulan story we know. So the more appropriate title for the story is "The Legend of General Mulan".
If they're going to play up the "girl power" motif, in such a way that she's "crouching tiger" gliding around the battlefield effortlessly oneshotting Hun after Hun, then they should really make it evident that it's the Great Stone Dragon giving her these powers. That adheres more to the most popular interpretation of the animated film's plot.
I love your ideas.. and yes i want the musical numbers back in and more... i really hope that someone from the production see your vidéo very soon!!.. Merci Grace!
If you make a Mulan movie...without "Make a man out of you"...
...
DISHONOR! (make a note of this) DISHONOR ON YOU!! DISHONOR ON YOUR ANCESTORS! DISHONOR ON YOUR COW!!
Your comment made my day.
ROTFL
Less than a minute in:

Jor-El McLoughlin poop
I did the same. :'D

I hate the idea of a secret power within. Keep it the same! Men and woman being equal isn't determined by brute strength but because they can solve similar challenges by taking different approaches. Woman don't have to be equally as strong as men, nor men stronger then other men, to win.
hopefully that inner power is ingenuity and not being descended from the God's
I'm real mad that it won't be a musical. Maybe they want to go a dark direction, but come on, let other studios do that. I think Disney should follow Beauty and the Beast's example; enhancing the source material and giving it more depth.
I don't think it was confirmed and I hear they might reconsider
I hope you're right, otherwise call me a panini cause I'd be pressed af.
shady boots I hate musicals to be honest, but Reflection theme song was just too beautiful. It's a bit off with the story, though. Maybe just add it sometimes after credit?
Grace you need to produce films.
Ajay G Yass
Disney needs to step in and reconsider because a Mulan without Ill make a man out of you is a cancelled project. There is NO Disney Mulan without that song
BoneStudios15 agreed. Without that song and "Reflection", there is no point to the movie.
Erin Lee yes for real
They never confirmed anything about the songs. The director actually addressed this issue after the backlash and said that she didn't mean that there definitely wouldn't be any songs. dragonsareawesome123 exactly
I still watch it
My hope is that they keep the songs, I love them.
TheoKabala89 vI heard they're not & I'll never forgive them. Reflection is a masterpiece & so is I'll make a man out of you.
TheoKabala89 saw an article yesterday that they are rethinking it because of all the backlash that they wouldnt
Kevin G i think the fan base noise work and they can cut Li Shang from Mulan movie he is a important caracterer.
If the don't have "Make a Man Out of You" AND the cricket in the movie, I will riot.
Giselle Valdez me too
Giselle Valdez I'd be mad too if they don't have the song "Make a Man Out of You" in the remake
It isn't Mulan without Li Shang and the music!
I seriously hope they reconsider her love interest as a random soldier. Not giving her Shang is like not giving Belle her Beast.
cakecrumb095 I know!!! It's making me upset:(
Musical numbers and Shang or Riot!!
In other words; highlight the Chinese cultural values and not western feminist values.
Yeah i agree with that.
Yea, i agree. they're trying to play to the Chinese market with this remake, so knocks out two birds with one stone.
yes, i hope she's not another tomboy, im-so-tough character
Hell yeah
h6hfelie YES! Freaking PLEASE! Keep it historically and culturally accurate and people can SHUT UP about sexism and just freaking enjoy the movie and its accuracy was 😒

Xengar agree 100%
Xengar will they tease thw family guardian as well? I've always wondered what it looks like instead of Mushu
I thought Mushu was the family guardian, in fact I thought there were multiple animal guardians housed with the ancestors.
Uh, it's an American black man playing an Asian dragon. It's Blackwashing!
Which is why I asked should, after all the movie needs to appeal to western audiences, maybe all characters on screen should be asian but Mushu could be voiced by anyone. Assuming they bring him in and if he's comedic.
This movie has the potential to be amazing, or so so bad.
Never has there been a truer statement!
ryan holt I really hope they do this live-action film justice. Especially being of Asian heritage myself it would be great to not only see such an iconic Disney heroine be made greater but also have a wider scope of recognition for Asian culture on film :)

After watching Beauty and the Beast, I'm ready for any remake Disney throws on screen
Jeff Doyen YES!!!!! good thinking
Purple Tomato Studio "Lion King"... directed by Jon Favreau... using the same tech as "Jungle Book 2016"...
Purple Tomato Studio as long as it isn't overly auto tuned...
Purple Tomato Studio I thought she was PERFECT for Belle!!
Same but I'm kinda scared for Aladdin! But i'm looking forward to mulan
We tend to disagree a lot Grace, but I think you're spot on here. I NOMINATE JING TIAN FOR MULAN!! Or even Fan BingBing, Thoughts Grace?
Thomas Mees Jing is most likely to work with Sony's Mulan
Thomas Mees I think Fan Bingbing looks way too delicate to pass for this role. So Jing Tian all the way!
My vote is for Jessica Henwick.
Thomas Mees Please no. There are better actresses in China than these two.
bing bing 😭😭😭💙💙💙
Jackie Chan needs a role in this. Seriously! And he CAN SING! He sang in the Chinese dubbed version of BATB (91). He's got a beautiful voice.
Another aspect of the animated film that I think is important not to lose in the transition to live action is how Shan Yu treats Mulan. Almost uniquely among the characters in the film, he doesn't care that she's a woman. Underappreciated.
In ancient China they really had a bunch of tough female generals so clearly they were able to keep up with the men. My guess is speed, agile & smart equalise things.
Great ideas Grace, I loved them, your job looks so fun 😃
Really hope Mulan goes well fingers crossed
when you said don't make it about girl power I cringed because I imagined something like that girl in the new transformers movie trailer
Thats the way they were going, no songs because "Make a man out of you" and no Shang because Mulan "Is an independent woman dont dont need no man".
Hopefully Beauty and the Beast helps them reconsider.
han that was perfect
in the Chinese movie Mulan Joins the Army (1939), Mulan and Shang are equals in rank but then she rises in ranks until she is the general while Shang stays a soldier. So perhaps they want this Mulan to be more in tune with the Chinese version rather than the Disney one, in this regard.
This is excellent.
I swear if this movie tries to cram girl power down my throat at the expense of her culture and honor, I'm gonna scream.
I'm all for girl power, but AGREED. This is about her family!!!
I need Ming Na Wen to at least have a cameo in this movie
I feel like there's such a good PG-13 or even R rated movie lurking beneath Mulan if the music gets cut, which Disney won't do of course, so might as well keep the music and the comedy.

"Hold up" (Calls Matt Damon) "Sup, Homey. You busy?"
I agree with so much about this, however point number 4 was the only one I didn't really see eye-to-eye with. I REALLY hope they cast Jessica Henwick as Mulan!
Shes been amazing in Game of Thrones and Iron fist and she would probably fit this role perfectly!

Atlantis: The Lost Empire and The Hunchback of Norte Dame please!!!!! Thanks Disney. 😝❤
WOW I had forgotten all about Atlantis, and I used to love that thing. Shame on me...
Gabriel Benton and Treasure Planet, and the Black Cauldron
I would also say spend more time with Mulan growing up and developing her identity. Totally agree with #1.
In the Ballad of Mulan, the original story, Mulan already knew martial arts, swordplay, and archery.
The music NEEDS to be in there!! Reflection and I'll Make a Man Out of You are ICONIC Disney songs! Maybe Lea Salonga(the singing voice of Milan and Jasmine and a Broadway star in her own right) can make a cameo? And I think it's a great idea to give her parents a song or two.
every asian actress is auditioning for this
Donovan Brown Every Chinese actress. There is no way they're gonna let someone who's not Chinese play this, because Mulan's story is so cherished and important in Chinese culture. Plus Disney wants Chinese market.
ExtraRareTrumpSteak GITS is no comparison to Mulan in terms of cultural significance. Japanese market is no comparison to Chinese market either.
Cast Emma Stone as Mula...haha, sry couldnt hold in the laughter
Scarlett Johanson as Mulan. "Is because american audiences need a white lead"
hahahaha!
This is a reference to Aloha, right?
sildarmillion That's right!
han dler yes!. Chris pine as li Shang and Morgan freeman as the emperor.

I JUST WATCHED BEAUTY AND THE BEAST TODAY IT IS AMAZING
what I want:
Eddie murphy as mushu and not getting a major personality overhaul
Yao Ping and Chien Po being their goofy selves but not to the point of being incompetent
Shang being slightly more of a hardass (by which I mean him being more of a product of his time and really struggle with the possibility of executing Mulan regardless of life debt)
showing Mulan not fitting in and her song being longer ( we need the docile lamb line back) but not to the point of her being a conscious brat
the emperor being a badass and given a name
what I don't want
Mulan being a glory hound
her being automatically better then the guys
relying on horrible double standards regarding who's right and whos wrong (these three sort of run into each other)
the mood changing too much (yes it does need to be serious its a war movie after all but there is still comedy in it its a Disney film after all)
don't water it down for the sake of political correctness (make the attitudes known and don't make Mulan a shrill harpy)
at the same time make sure the civilians aren't to nasty (again make Mulan enlisting out of wanting to save her dad not wanting to escape her monotonous life)
Milan was ALWAYS my favorite movie. A woman who is kicking ass and taking no prisoners.
I wish these were the types of movies little girls were seeing today that you can do it as a young girl in a tough world!
If they handle this well it could be one of the best disney movies ever. Imagine The Last Samurai but disnefied.
Grace are you going to make a discussion video about the new venom movie 2018?
I discussed it on MMN last week - too early for its own video right now! But thanks for asking!
Beyond The Trailer What about ideas for a Power Rangers sequel?? ❤
Love your list
IF THEY DON'T RECONSIDER PUTTING THE MUSIC IN AND KEEPING SHANG AND ALL OF HE IMPORTANT POINTS IN THIS VIDEO I'M DISHONORING DISNEY'S COW
I love your videos : your thoughts and your reviews are really interesting!!! 😁
No music please, B&B is a fairy tale, and the broadway-ish look fit the songs and worked. I want this Mulan to be a war film and not page by page with the animated film (My top 2 animated film btw).
I couldn't have this movie without the music!
Genius suggestions, Grace! Couldn't agree more; I hope they're listening!
honestly this is everything I want. I hope they do as much to enrich the story as you're suggesting they should do.
Mulan is my favorite Classic Disney Movie, and I hugely support all 5 of these ideas!
I think they should put the songs in the film
Excellent analysis as usual, Ms. Randolph! Watching this was the highlight of my morning! (Not joking) I want my children to have the passion, enthusiasm, and perceptiveness for whatever they do that you obviously have for what you do. Great work, and thank you!
I love your ideas Grace and I hope the production team is listening, no one is asking for another Ghost Busters 2016 to put it bluntly.
The only song I care about is "I'll make a man out of you" They just need that one song lol
I've only just started your list, but #5? INSPIRED. I really hope the directer/DoP either sees this or has a similar idea.
Disney should still get Eddy Murphy to voice mushu...He's the one who always bring the comedy to the show
i dont think mulan practicing is a good idea. Mulan doesnt want to go to war. she feels she HAS to. shes not trying to assume a male role, she just doesnt fit into the typical female one
The original poem she did practice before going into war.
Disney better be taking notes right now.
Still a little peeved that it won't be a musical but of done right it could be pretty epic.
please disney ...listen to her!😏
and also i would like to see a kind of prologue of the father of mulan talking to her of his past fights😊
I agree with this list. Also... MUSHU! You keep my baby where he belongs. He was on my graduation cap. I am so ready for this movie. Don't kill it.
Great ideas!! Love your videos!
Grace, I'm going to say I love your idea about being trained by her father.
A very intelligent commentary. You've highlighted a lot of issues and aspects that Disney need to start thinking about seriously and from a cinematic perspective.
You've nailed what they need to focus on as well, self sacrifice is a beautiful theme in the original movie and I fear that times have changed enough that it is at risk of being throttled by "Girl Power" and "Individualism" as a replacement for her drivers.
great list grace....you even pointed out some themes and idea I never notice before....I should rewatch it when I get the chance☺☺☺☺
"you can check out more videos right now" is such an effective tool to add more viewers
Completely agree with you Grace! I'm surprised they haven't hired you already to help write these scripts and come up with ideas for films. You're brilliant! :)
jessica henwick could be a perfect Mulan ... she has done a very good job in Iron fist
