I have a feeling this video was made by you on a cheerful note after trickstabbing several newbie pyros and feeling like a godlike Spy after that. You may have outclassed those W+M1 Pyros, but you'll never be able to surpass somewhat competent Pyro. A good Pyro will always know/guess where you may come from or what you're up to and will never allow you to come close so as not to get facestabbed or something else. Even if you managed to escape their grasps they won't follow you since they know damn well how you utilize corners and slopes or extra distance (they know you have a gun). They'll retreat and wait for another opportunity. They know you will act when they are distracted.
A Pyro should theoretically always lose against a Spy in a 1v1 setting if the spy has decent aim and gamesense, obviously it doesn't translate correctly in a real game but if the Pyro isn't near his team then he's just as vulnerable as every other class against Spy.

Great video. Personally since I rely on my gun an absolute ton, I actually find Pyro one of the easiest classes to deal with, as long as I'm not going for a stab or sapping. The revolver outranges Pyro's flanes and shotguns so hard it's kind of funny. It's even funnier when you're going full gunspy and half the enemy team switches to pyro just to die even easier to you than their previous classes lmao
pyro is the class that most commonly makes people shake up their loadouts to acclimate to the round, and I really like that about him. You really dont see that many loose cannon demos or shotgun soldiers but when a good pyro is in the game that becomes a lot more common and i think its nice to have a class that can force people out of meta-slaving for even a couple minutes
I find myself subkonsciously airblasting spies who have their knives out when attempting to fight me. It's also especially satisfying when they try to run and turn their backs on me, and get met with back burner crits. So, pay attention to what kind of flamethrower Pyro's are using, it could save your life.
I understand your opinion, but I have to disagree. Pyro is an obstacle for spy, yes, but he is not something you can play around very efficiently. Take the fact when the ideal timing and opportunity for a Spy to attack can be completely nullified by a Pyro without much effort. For example, a Pyro can make an otherwise easy strike on a person on the payload a nightmare. A spy-aware pyro can borderline lock down entire parts of the map for spy with his flamethrower. "You have a gun though!" Think it like this: You have a revolver that is outdamaged by nearly every other class primary weapon and does pitiful damages at long ranges. Even its damage at close range is quite mediocre. Let's put this incomparison to the flamethrower: An incredibly easy to use, braindead weapon that can melt you down in seconds in your effective range. Not to mention, if you get stuck within their flamethrower's range, you are effectively trapped inside it because it is incredibly difficult to outrun, even if you have Spycicle and/or DR. "Just don't be in their effective range!" is a flawed argument in my opinion because the determining factor of whether or not you get in a Pyro's flamethrower range is incredibly lucky dependent, and not to mention they just close the gap inbetween you if the distance is not large enough, or map geometry not being in your favor as the Spy (Not enough space for running, hard to navigate, tight corridors, etc). This is not even mentioning his secondaries or airblast which make the matchup even more oppressive. As if trickstabbing wasn't hard enough, airblast completely even further ruins trickstabs, along with preventing the Spy from stabbing the Pyros teammates. This is just my take though. Don't take it as "your video and take bad i am right". I have just noticed a lack of counterarguments and other points of discussion in the comment section, and felt the need to post this.
Pyro might be fun to fight as spy, but you know who he isn't fun against? Demoknight. The shields need some knockback resistance or something to help them not be completely disabled by m2
There was nothing more satisfying for me last week then somehow trickstabbing the pyro who was actively setting me on fire as he noticed me sapping the engineer nest.
I apreciate this video, as a pyro main it is very common to hear "pyro is a brain dead class" by a whole lot of people (especially from spies), So it is nice to hear that some people actually enjoy a pyro encounter and find a challenging but fun fight.
atleast spy has a revolver, soldier has a shotgun, what can a demo do? melee, airblast grenades, airblast stickys, airblast its imbossible if he can airblast
With demo all of his projectiles are still active even when airblasted and are also really heavy. So a demo vs an airblast happy pyro will fource the pyro two lose ground, unless the pyro is a god at reflecting pipes
I'm someone who's not good at both pyro and spy, and I still think pyro isn't bad Like you said he tests a spy's maneuver ability, and balance wise (in my opinion) pyro is also the only class able to somewhat counter a stealth-ing spy, like his flamethrower is the problem not any of his other kit against a spy no other class can do that so it seems that that lack of invise-spy-counter on all the other classes found itself being put conpelty on the pyros flamethrower
@@blastbot7339 if you're not even sure that a spy is around, sure, you're right, but if you mean a spy that cloaked to run away then a lot of classes have methods scout has mad milk soldier has explosives with lots of range pyro... we already talked about this demoman also has explosives heavy has an automatic weapon that fires a lot, similar to pyro engineer has the southern hospitality (and his teammate's support) medic... probably doesn't have anything tbh sniper has jarate which is fucking overpowered and spy himself... doesn't have anything either

I get what you mean. As a pyro main, I love fighting heavies and winning with smart movement. And when I get outplayed by a spy, damn it's frustrating, but in a good way. Like, I usually just stare at my screen like "huh?" but once that has passed it's rewarding to not get trickstabbed because you actively prevented it.
What is the general Spy consensus on the Dragon's Fury? It is my favorite Pyro weapon, but I have been considering getting rid of it as I seem to be a target for cloaked spies.
A massive thing about battling a Pyro is not being predictable. Even if you cloak, a good Pyro knows 90% of the time you will go for a back stab, this happened when I was playing Pyro, I waited a couple seconds, then turned around flames blazing and the Spy was dead. Always remember SPY HAS A GUN.
spychecking with spy himself is even better, your knife still raises for a backstab if an enemy spy is disguised, therefore allowing you to determine if a spy is a spy, with spy. And in the same sense with Pyro, you can manipulate them into associating you with a spycheck, making them be somewhat afraid of you.
As an engineer main who seconds pyro i absolutely despise spys. To the point that hearing one die fills me with dopamine. For me a spy is like that one mosquito who always just appears and dissapears when you try to fall asleep. But i still wery mutch respect all spys. And atching a video about spy gaming feels like im the spy myself. Infiltrating the enemy and getting intel on how they work. I do get why you choose to play spy even if you are every pain in my existence
My favorite thing to do as spy is when im loosing fights I cloak and fake like I'm going to a health pack, then watch them spycheck in that area for about 5 seconds
i havent watched the video yet but i think the homewrecker is the one thing that definitely needs to be addressed because ... its ability to one tap sappers is wasted on pyro
But there’s the issue of who else would use it? Every other class either is already capable of dealing with buildings, has better things two do, or doesn’t play near enough two buildings
I'm pulling my hair because a month ago I deleted the cloak and dagger and a week later discovered my play style with spy is to wait in corners and such, now I regret being free to play

I like playing Pyro cause every single other classes like to target Pyro’s (except most spies ofc)
I get what you mean.
As a pyro main, I love fighting heavies and winning with smart movement.
And when I get outplayed by a spy, damn it's frustrating, but in a good way. Like, I usually just stare at my screen like "huh?" but once that has passed it's rewarding to not get trickstabbed because you actively prevented it.
damn can you really outplay a heavy as a pyro? i want to know how to do that
Nice, I see that ultrakill on your homepage. Now I have a question, what do you think of ultrakill’s funny pyro bots
>Throw coin above them
>Shoot coin
>Satisfying pause then loud bang
>Dopamine
@@Jontohil2 reasons to play ultrakill
1. Dopamine
2. Dopamine
3. Dopamine
if jonto had a tv show, his catchphrase would be "SPY HAS A GUN"
really good stuff
You have become one of my most favourite tf2 UA-camrs now
Mario and Luigi dream team music is just 🤌 love it
Isn’t it a remix of BIS?
What is the general Spy consensus on the Dragon's Fury? It is my favorite Pyro weapon, but I have been considering getting rid of it as I seem to be a target for cloaked spies.
It’s definitely easier to avoid but get hit by it once while cloaked and you’re probably dead unless the pyro wasn’t checking for you.
A massive thing about battling a Pyro is not being predictable. Even if you cloak, a good Pyro knows 90% of the time you will go for a back stab, this happened when I was playing Pyro, I waited a couple seconds, then turned around flames blazing and the Spy was dead. Always remember SPY HAS A GUN.

the 3 horsemen of spy tests:
spy, engineer, and pyro
Jon is a masochist confirmed
I swear pyros are like a boss fight for spy mains
Jontohil2: it’s really fun to go against pyros!
Me: what about me *who has a phlog name the “spy killer”*
name tags /=/ skill
@@mishagaming1075that was a joke lad
spychecking with spy himself is even better, your knife still raises for a backstab if an enemy spy is disguised, therefore allowing you to determine if a spy is a spy, with spy. And in the same sense with Pyro, you can manipulate them into associating you with a spycheck, making them be somewhat afraid of you.
Random person: Name one quote from this guy
Me: Spy Has A Gun!
3:59 and onward has shown me that pyros completely forget that they have airblasts

soldier: complaining
spy: no one asked lol
I agree with this wholeheartedly, it’s really funny when they don’t realize you’re already really far away
My fav to do is airblast spy if try trickstab and flame spy and over again
avoiding pyros as spy is like playing alien isolation
"Get fricked spies" - me (a pyro main)
Wait you don't have to wait to respawn. Just escape
If there are friendly explosive classes or friendly pyros on my team, I like to lure the enemy pyro away as spy.
This time I had 9 pyros on my team and someone on the enemy team picked spy
"Why I like fighting Pyros as a Sp-"
"You're a masochist"
a dope trio would be you, Dane, and soundsmith
"Mmmmph mmph mmph mph mmmph"
(I like the smell of burnt spy in the morning)
-Pyro.
You do get damage numbers and hit sounds when you shoot a disguised spy iirc
I main pyro and I love fighting spies. One trick stab on me and I then drastically alter how I engage.
I drastically change depending how good is spy player
i havent watched the video yet but i think the homewrecker is the one thing that definitely needs to be addressed because ... its ability to one tap sappers is wasted on pyro
But there’s the issue of who else would use it? Every other class either is already capable of dealing with buildings, has better things two do, or doesn’t play near enough two buildings
"The Flamethrower has a short range" haha nice one
2 of my most played classes are spy and pyro, about the only thing I hate about pyro and spies dynamic is that pyro has the fucking homewrecker
I'm pulling my hair because a month ago I deleted the cloak and dagger and a week later discovered my play style with spy is to wait in corners and such, now I regret being free to play
You can rent it from the Mann Co store if you aren’t already
I like to have boss fight music in my playlists in case I’m playing spy and I have a tricky pyro on the enemy team
As a pyro main. I also love fighting spies. Good ones especially. Keeps me busy and excited always keeping my eye out
my favorite spy UA-camr plus these videos are so entertaining
Your first video is about getting a spy with a flare gun and demolishing him.
Pyro: W +m1
Spy: S + M1 (revolver)
Someone replace pyro with taxes and see how the context changes.
