I’m back again 6 days later! Watching your videos and seeing all your thrift shopping finds has given me the “the thrift bug”. It’s been awhile and yesterday my girlfriend and I met for lunch and decided to go thrifting first. We stopped at one place, met a stranger who also loved the hunt and we were checking on Google, searching for a stamp on the bottom of a covered side dish I had picked up. Well, we found the stamp that was from a German Company in Austria that was used between 1909-1918! I paid $6.00 as marked. What a treasure! I bought a few other items, a tiny 41/2 “ tall pewter bud vase for $2.00, a Krome filigreed platter made in New York. We had so much fun that we didn’t get to lunch until 3:15 ! Thank you Linda for the inspiration to get back to something I always enjoyed!
Happy Mother's Day, Linda! You have lots of projects that will keep you busy. Willow is the sweetest helper. How adorable when you both took off to gather branches! Love your channel and the variety you provide.
Happy Mothers Day! Linda, I am so over joyed to have subscribed to your channel you have a calming an effect on one’s being. Your soothing voice and many different ideas that inspire me to take pleasure in projects to just be creative. Love the part about the foxgloves and peel and stick wallpaper.🌷💐🌼🌹
It looks like the terra-cotta piece is a shisa or shishi piece. My husband brought back one from Okinawa during one of his business travels years ago. They are usually lions or dogs and they are supposed to ward off evil spirits. I enjoy watching your videos, especially looking at your thrifted finds…….what beautiful treasures!
Happy Mother's Day! We're heading off to a Mother's Day tea at our daughter's home. We have these monthly tea parties to enjoy with our grandchildren to share the things in life that are "Refined". The children love it.
Happy Mothers Day. Really enjoyed 🎉this video Linda. I do love quiet refinement. It’s quietness and calmness means a lot in this too busy world. The little girl in the blue dress is wonderful.
Good morning and Happy Mother’s Day!❤ 🌸 soooo glad you posted today! Beautiful video! I love the colors too! ❤Thanks for cheering me up! AND…I love the porch!
Linda I love the picture of ‘The Blue Girl’ the colour of her dress is beautiful, she could match along side your little boy picture, the floral pictures are gorgeous as well, one would look nice in your Garden Room. I tuned into your daughters channel, very lovely, I did enjoy the watch… Thank you & Happy Mothers Day to you..😊
Happy Mother's Day Linda! Thank you for sharing such a wonderful video today. I nearly fell off my couch when I saw the beautiful art you purchased. I especially loved the large light background floral, but also the darling girl in blue. She'll need a name! Your taste is always on my refined list- so fun to tag along with you today!❤
If it’s an antique, the tiny tureen was almost certainly intended to be a mustard pot, but your idea of using it for jam-or even picalilli- is great, too.
The panel wallpaper is a perfect match, what a lucky find. I love your home and have always been drawn to the simple elegance of the New England style, back in the 80's and 90's I spent a small fortune on American Country Living and Southern Living magazines, storing away ideas for my home renovations... So good to see you watch Josie's vlogs, I've been watching for years, back when they had a tiny back lawn and garden in London that was about the size of your back porch! Way back then Josie and Charlie didn't know anything about gardening, look how far they've come. ❤🦘
Linda, you have so many talents! I love the little arch you built, will look beautiful when it has flowers on it. That wallpaper looks amazing and goes perfect with the "Tally Ho". RE: the "evil spirit" clay face looks like the touristy souvenirs you get in Italy. I have a similar one that I got when I visited "La Boca de la Verita "in Rome. I wanted a memento of this famous tourist attraction since I saw the movie Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn. The ridiculous ideas of some ignorant people never cease to amaze me. Have a wonderful Mother's Day!!
Gargoyles and grotesque images were actually used on churches and homes to ward off demons and the devil. I hardly think the churches were worshiping the devil. I hope your subscriber looked more into this and didn't unsubcribe for that reason. Love your videos and your kindness, Linda. ❤
Such a lovely video Linda, I absolutely love the ‘Blue Girl’ picture, she would look good next to your little boy picture. The wallpaper looks great, you are such a clever lady..😊
I have to say when you showed the small room behind the fireplace I just got the creeps! I lived in Templeton near Leominster. My house was a colonial and gave me the creeps in certain areas. Your home is beautiful.
Hi Linda! Your videos get better and better . I continue to watch in awe as I watch the transformation of your home and gardens. So pretty and tranquill !!❤
I liked seeing your wall art. I would have liked to see the big floral one behind the more brown fall one. That one looked beautiful from what I could see.
What a wonderful video. I also love refined articles, but never know what's considered refined and what's considered just Old. so thank you. Also, you are right about the Gargole, they were for guarding off Evil Spirits. many Churches in Europe have them as downspouts. Happy Mother's Day.
Indeed, back during the dark ages, gargoyles were actually put on the 4 corners of buildings to ward off evil. Sharing information together helps us all learn from one another. I love God very much too, its admirable for all of us to look out for one another as well. You have been blessed with much abundance. Sharing your talents and plans with all of us is thoughtful and, you give us all inspirational ideas for a cozy and beautiful home. For the person who was standing up for her beliefs, that too is a blessing. Unfortunately, America is facing much evil right now. Staying alert and aware is equally as important, otherwise, we will not keep our freedom to enjoy your hobbies, nor continue to follow our dreams and have our homes. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is why there is a New England area. It is all relative. God bless you all.
@@newenglandfineliving Your welcome, thank you for sharing your home and talents with all of us. I have a passion for colonial homes, have renovated 2 and built a federal style home back in the day. For some of us colonial homes and decor are just in our blood, then again, everyone is born with cherished passions. All of you who pour your time into sharing yours remind us all not to lose sight of our own talents. We all are born with talents. There is actually a verse in the Bible, about what happens when we deny our God-given talents. Not only are you talented, your a wonderful role model for the rest of your viewers. God bless you for that! More importantly, God bless you for taking breaks for yourself. Even Jesus went into the desert for 40 days! : )
Loved all your little finds! But especially loved hearing you talk about morning glories. One of my favorite vines, I have several every year growing up trellises, around old chairs that I have in my garden & my daughter every moms day buy’s me more morning glories & this year she got me blue! Enjoy your week 😊
Hello, Miss Linda💐 I love the color perriwinkle blue as well; especially on a pastel yellow cottage, with white trim, and... a perriwinkle blue front door and shutters!! 💖 Maybe some red pansies lining the walkway; just for a pop of color, and a twisted branch "fence" out front.🌹 I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day💐 Washibgton State🌲🌅🌺
A great native vine is lonicera sempervirens 'major wheeler'.. coral honeysuckle vine. Hummingbirds love it. Starts blooming in mid-May and continues into the fall.
I had to laugh when you said refined finds, because I pictured it as refind finds. My maternal grandmother, mother, my cousin and me used to spend our days while my grandmother was still able visiting all the local thrift stores, and my grandmother more than once was known to buy back something she had donated-i.e. refind finds. lol I really enjoyed seeing all your purchases and refinds. The wallpapers look so good together with the paint. The tavern is really coming along. It was fun seeing you and Willow riding along in the gator. Hoping you had a wonderful Mother’s Day.
Hi Linda, the terra cotta mask is of Bacchus, Roman god of agriculture, wine, and merriment. He is identifiable by his crown of grapes. He should do well at the garden event at Twin Elm Farm.
I just recently found your channel and you have been so inspiring. I love how decisive you are, how your design mind works, and how you so eloquently walk us through your process. Although my style differs, I have learned so much. Thank you for sharing your beautiful life.
My husband made me an arch from rebar. He heated it up and bent it to make swoops too (idk hiw tk descide them). It has worked out FANTASTICALLY!!! I have honeysuckle growing up mine❤❤❤
Happy Mothers Day Linda. What a lovely video...I always love your content. I have a cottage by the sea at the Jersey Shore but I love New England. I am truly inspired by Susan Branch. As a kindred spirit I am sure you must have read her book Martha's Vineyard Isle of Dreams. If not, run, don't walk to your computer and order it. You will laugh, cry and everything in between. I have all of Susan's books, calendars and I truly love her mugs. I know you have her Queen. I have her adorable Jack the cat with a hair tie in his mouth. Happy mothers day, Linda Another lovely veido Love each one My sweet new England The best , miss it But your veidos help me And it seems I am right with you lol ❤
Happy Mother's Day Linda! Enjoyed seeing all the REFINED finds today.. The Tavern wallpaper looks like paneling..so real! Love it! Your gardens look so lush and green.. Love the arch you made! You have worked so hard out there and it's paying off. The porch makeover is coming along with all your styling touches. Love the added shiplap.. it lightens up the space and enlarges the area. Have a wonderful Day in Jesus!l He loves you so much! Blessings of His peace to you and Ben.
My husband and I put up peel and stick wallpaper on a small wall in our house and I found it much more difficult than the pre-pasted wallpaper we used to use in the past. There is no give to it. Once it is on the wall, it must be removed of all places it has adhered to just to adjust slightly. We ruined a long sheet as it got stuck to itself so I had buy another whole roll to get the job done. I can't imagine doing a large wall or a room with it. And it gasses off vinyl quite a bit. I'm glad it's done but would likely not use it on any large walls in my home in the future.
Hi Linda, your garden arch is wonderful, and your vision for it sounds amazing! Your home is such a gem full of history and beauty. Always a treat to visiting you! Xoxo ❤
So much to discuss……first..Happy Mother’s Day! Love your garden more every time you share it, the arch will be wonderful. Your thrift finds are amazing. Love the spoons and ladles. Also, I love the Baldwin Brass. I never pass up a candlestick when I find them. I actually found a set of Baldwin candleholders, brand new, in pewter, at an estate sale, in the original box, for under $10.00! Could not pass those up. I did not know Baldwin made pewter. Good luck with the tavern wallpaper. It looks great and it will be worth the effort needed to hang it. You are so innovative and inspire so many. Thanks again for sharing. Always look forward to watching!
Love the arch..oh all the things you can do... I have done many designs with grapevines and sticks... just made large very twisted grapevine arch between my diningroom living area, and living room, with a large round nest with eggs, and two cardinals...spaced on different branches... So wonderful... Love❤
Ahhhh the highlight of my Sunday nights are watching your videos, it’s the treat to the end of my day and the beginning of my week. Thanks for the inspiration too. Linda, I hope you had a lovely Mother’s Day! ❤
What an incredible job you've done in the various garden beds at Sugarwood! Are you a fan of before and after content, Linda? I would love to see that, as I remember what some of those beds looked like in the beginning. Yet another idea for a video!
Such wonderful finds!! I think my biggest challenge when buying things for my antique booth is that I want to keep everything!! The struggle is real!🤣That wallpaper is gorgeous ~ perfect with the tally ho paper!❤Hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day! 🌸🌿
Happy Mother's Day! Great thrifting finds. I sold all my great floral pictures about 10 years ago, and I'm sorry I did. Yours would be excellent in the porch.
I was so thrilled to find you this winter. We have been renovating a 200 year old farm house in Jaffrey, NH for the last two years, and watching your home transformation encourages me!
I enjoyed seeing your keepers and those pieces you never were able to find a spot for. I can't believe how similar our tastes are. I too have wall art that I outgrew or usually found something better. I have shoes and gloves by the back door in faux rusty metal, oval tin. Your branch arch shows promise. The difference in our climate zones is substantial - the healthiest climbing roses I ever had were Peace climbers. They had to be trimmed back every year. When we moved I tried taking cuttings, but it was the wrong time of year. Enjoy your Spring!
Linda, I look forward to your video each week! You have such a calm nature & are so informative. Your home has had such a transformation & I have loved every minute of your journey, simply beautiful! Looking forward to all your work outside now. Willow is just adorable riding off in the gator with you, love her! ❤
Josie's on Charlie's home in the Cotswolds is a home and particularly gardens to aspire to! Josie did say on one of her latest videos that they do have part-time help that come on a weekly schedule and shared that they have spent over six figures to accomplish what they have done so far. Looking forward to watching what they have planned for their upcoming wedding in their home. Also looking forward to see what you achieve in your home and gardens!😊
Thanks, love that you have such different projects, also love your side kick, so sweet. I know you are busy, but wanting more videos, so look forward to them
What a treat to watch this on Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day to you all.
Happy mother's day to you as well. 💐🤗
Thank You !
Can’t tell you how warm my heart rt felt watching The dog get invited and heading off with you in your little vehicle ❤❤❤
I love that! I will let Willow know! ;-)
Another reason why I, too, am a kindred spirit . . . Heavenly blue morning glories! One of my top three favorite flowers.

I always look forward to your videos. You are my favorite UA-camr.I love your interesting and beautiful content.
