The first tip is to control your machine's temperature, once it reaches 350°F the rubber blocks are completely melted, make sure to turn down the regulator to prevent it to crystallize.
The second tip is the proper way to load the crack filler into your machine. You have to make sure to wear safety gloves before loading the machine. You can load it from the front or the side of your machine. The good thing about our RY10 lineup is it has an inside slope to make sure your rubber blocks will lean toward the valving system.
The third tip is to limit the material to what you need. The RY10's narrow shoe will limit the crack fill that will be applied on the surface, just make sure not to overfill your shoe to avoid wasting crack filler.
The Fourth tip is to have a tiger torch and an asphalt crack squeegee handy. You can use the Tiger torch to clean your machine, burn down vegetation, and heat up the valving system in case a blockage occurs. The asphalt crack squeegee can be used to spread out puddles of crack filler that can't be evened out by your machine.
The Fifth tip is choosing the right crack filler. There are 3 kinds of crack sealer in the market: liquid crack filler, rubberized direct fire crack filler, and oil-jacketed crack filler. Liquid crack filler is ideal for residential homeowners with a minimal amount of cracks on their asphalt driveway. Rubberized crack filler is the most popular in the market: Big property owners, churches, airports, and contractors use direct fire crack filler for repairing their asphalt cracks. Oil-jacketed crack filler is used by municipalities for miles and miles of crack sealing community roads.
The sixth tip is the most efficient way to fill cracks. We call it the Conga line. You have your crack cleaning person in the front cleaning out the crack from debris and vegetation followed by the blower man blowing the dirt debris and vegetation out from the surface and finally, the crack melter applicator filling the cracks watertight completing the process of crack sealing.

You generally charge by the sq ft for Sealcoating and by the linear ft for striping and crack sealing. Pricing ranges depending where you’re located. Ranges from $0.25 per sq ft to $0.50 depending and $1 per ft for crack sealing.
