My line of work is in petroleum for about 31 years now, so here are some tricks to get more of your money's worth for every gallon: Here at the Kinder Morgan Pipeline where I work in San Jose , CA we deliver about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period thru the pipeline.. One day is diesel the next day is jet fuel, and gasoline, regular and premium grades. We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of 16,800,000 gallons. ✅ Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening....your gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role. A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps. ✅ When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. You should be pumping on low mode, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money. ✅ One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF FULL. The reason for this is the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated so that every gallon is actually the exact amount. ✅ Another reminder, if there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up; most likely the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom. Since gas prices have gone up, I actually found out about this app from TikTok. The reviews are pretty good. I used this app on Friday 6/3/22 and I have already received my cash back on the app. Who doesn't like getting cash back? I think this is awesome. Especially when gas prices are going up and they are not coming back down.

I have attempted to use this app several times in the past few days and had problems every time. In my area, we don't have 87, 89, etc. octane gasoline. Most of the pumps have 87 with ethanol and 87 without ethanol. I also have a few vehicles that require premium. I prefer no ethanol and am willing to pay the extra cost. Upside does not appear to allow me to select the choice I want at the pump and I think that it where my problems come in. Further, scanning a receipt while standing next to a motorcycle is a real pain. Perhaps if I only used one grade of gasoline it would work better. I'm glad it works for you.
Hey Bud, I appreciate you taking the time to explain the entire process of this application. I recently decided to give it a shot after hearing raving reviews from a friend of mine. Trouble is I have attempted to enter the first six and last four of my debit card more times than I can count. It just keeps bouncing back between two screens. Verify and Done. Even more troubling is the bot they have to troubleshoot and answer questions. The only thing that's good for is elevation frustration and anger levels... LoL. I am glad to have found your video, because now I know I can go to the gas station and follow the steps. Apparently the application allows us to add a card to the wallet that way also. As you so kindly explained. I'll let you know how that works at the very next opportunity.
I've just downloaded the Upside app after switching from GasBuddy who have been messing me around for the past month and I'm done missing out on savings at the pump. I use the Lyft app that uses the Upside Gas but I never get the Upside savings. It’s upsetting! Where is there a tutorial on how to get BOTH as Lyft advertises.
When you actually calculate the difference, filling up at Costco will save you more money. 19 cents a gallon meaning 2.66 cents on a 14 gallon tank. At Costco you can save more than 30-40 cents per gallon. You’re welcome

I hit claim, & it didn’t ask me to verify the location or anything so I just pumped my gas regularly. Nothing happened… I’m waiting for support to get back with me because I’m SO CONFUSED

I noticed when I first joined Upside the app asked me what octane I want to use and save on when setting up my account. I like to use 87 octane every 3 fill ups and on the fourth fill up, I like to use premium or 91 octane. Is it possible to choose any octane you want to use for a purchase?
I don't remember connecting a card to upside. I just remember having to take pictures of my receipt. I drive a box truck at my job so when I filled my tank at shells i used this app. After a while the app started rejecting my receipts so i got frustrated and deleted the app sense it was taking up space and no longer useful.
People who use this are they same people who think they are making money playing lottery when they won 20$ but lost $200 buying them throughout the week. They call it the poor man's taxes 🤣😅😂

That you would have to try. I haven’t tried a gift card so I’m not sure but if you put it on and able to claim, let us know! When it comes to the who pumps the gas, that didn’t matter as long as you claim the reward and check in or need to submit a receipt.

Does it work if you pay with your pay inside of the store? I don’t use my card at the pump since I had something happen with my card when money was taken off my card with them having my card.
I don't know why but upside only offers me cash back for for mid grade gas. I don't use mid grade I use regular so mid grade is 10 to 15 cents higher than regular which is somewhere or at or above the cash back offer. I don't know if anybody else has this but I don't see any reason to spend 10 cents more on a gallon of gas to get 8 cents back.
The UPSIDE Ad says that they got $200 back for buying gas. Wow what a joke. Let's look at this. If they got 10 cent back per gallon of gas, which is typical, they would have to buy 2000 gallons of gas. 2000 x $2.39 per gallon is $4780.00. If the typical MPG is 25, they they would have to drive 50,000 miles before they would use the 2000 gallons. The government says we average 1250 miles per month, then to travel that 50,000 mile would take 40 months! ALSO, if you use any other source of discount for gas, such as grocery store promotions, then the UPSIDE APP WON"T ALLOW THE DISCOUNT! So, when you get that $2.35 in your account, UPSIDE is using your money because most people don't ask for that low amount. Sounds like a good plan to me... NOT!

Yes you can do it that way. Most stations you go to won’t need the receipt when claiming the reward, you just need to use one of the cards you linked it with and the info when checking in. Some will still need a receipt that all you need to do is snap the picture of that receipt after checking in but that’s becoming less and less and Upsides tech is getting better.

You should be able to use it on any car. If you link your card with the app then when you use the app to claim an offer then it should automatically after using your card. You may need to submit a receipt at some places but that is much fewer places now
