Honestly, no! While alot of the tracks were perfection at the time, and brought with it so good much memories... I dont think it would bring the same 20 years on. New Storm-like project, yes... but not as Storm if that makes sense!
Tricky question. Immediate thought is no, it has been a long time since original Storm stuff… maybe the project is better left in the past. Especially since Mark passed. 😢 I think a new project would be better like Rune says above… in the theme of Storm 😊
I still have this Record from 23 years ago it was my our Pump Up song for my Group Entourage every weekend before we popped in the cab to hit the Clubs this record was on the turntables at full blast I know I have hearing damage from how loud I played it but boy were we pumped up to go do our thing, still one of my favorites they don't make hot music like this anymore. I remember People would always freak out what's this song.
The equipment behind the Maestro is worthy of respect. This is a rarity. El Mar's music is nostalgia for proper dance music, one hit Let me free is worth it. In addition, El Mar is a professional for me, who still plays on vinyls like Geuseppe Ottavani. The keeper of traditions, the legend of electronic music. It's a pity that Marc Spoon is not with us, together they would give heat. Greetings from Siberia!
Pretty cool right? I don't know much about equipment myself as I am not a producer, but I don't see much vintage equipment like in Jam El Mar's studio soon. Kai Tracid has a lot as well (there's 3 interviews I did with him on my channel BTW!), I think they have some similar equipment. And indeed, a shame that Mark Spoon did pass away years ago, so young still....
@@muzikxpress its a huge modular setup he has behind him. Each part is separate and they are linked together using the patch cables hanging that you can see. Unlike most normal synths that come with oscillators, envelopes and filters already connected internally as one complete package, with modular you purchase each of the modules separately and can have almost limitless possibilities with what you can connect to and how. It's a very complex and also very expensive way of working, but if you are a huge synthesis nerd and have the money then it's a rabbit hole a lot of people end up going down!
Spectacular song one of the Best High Energy songs ever Bar none Ive been listening to it 100's of times since it came out its just a cool masterfully put together song in every way and still cool as Ice.
One of my all time favourite trance tracks. Jam and Spoon (storm) always pushing the boundaries of sound and never scared to try something totally different. No other track sounds similar to this. I always loved the Pascal remix. Great interview as ever Twan! Thank you
I liked Storm Animal much as well, it was the first time I heard a style of psy trance and a form of hard house meet. This was the year 2000 anything was possible and electronic music was peaking.
I was today years old when I found out two of my favourite songs - Time to burn and Right in the night - were created by the same guy. Utmost surprised, I love this day!
I LOVE Time To Burn. I’m going to have this as my funeral song, shame I’ll never see the reaction of people when this is played there 😁 Great interview. Pleased he mentioned Stormanimal, another great track. Would be cool to hear more about that if he has something to share 😊
I noted down some years ago all the records that I liked and still needed for my mixes as Dj Luxx. Storm with "Storm" was also on my list. Great music! Hail Hail Master Rolf Elmer aka Jam El Mar!
Superb interview..i apso used to dance like a mad man to this 😆🤘🤘 it was huge back then all the clubs, trance/techno clubs.. ive never seen him before its a great interview💗
Storm Animal (Happy People In The Morning Mix)👍 Storm is a project that is best represented at certain times in electronic music evolution. This is probably one of them. The blend of Techno and Trance would fit the moment very well.
Thanks for the interview. It's a good listen. I didn't know "Time to burn" was a bigger hit than "Storm." It's not my favorite Storm tune and I think "Stormanimal" is a better tune between the two but I still like it. "Huri-Khan" was definitely in the shadow of the first single, "Storm." In my opinion, "Huri-Khan" is better than "Storm."
Thanks a lot! I love "Stormanimal", another energetic production from the guys. "Huri-Khan" is very underrated, should have been bigger for sure in my opinion!
I recently rediscovered this record (just a few days ago). The last time I heard it was probably in 2000 when I started my very first year in school. To be entirely honest, I only really dig the middle section (the main melody) of this track (roughly from the 2-minute mark till the 4-minute mark). Everything else feels like chaotic filler that doesn't serve a purpose. Moreover, they lack an emotional depth and thus don't really feel trancey at all. I would love to see a rework/remix of this track that focuses on the emotion and energy-driven part of it and extends it in clever and tasteful ways. One track that comes to my mind as a reference is Lizard by Mauro Picotto. The Megavoices Mix is highly regarded in the trance community but it's a track that you only really sit through (all 10 minutes of it) just to hear roughly 30 seconds that are actually dynamic and highly enjoyable. After that, give a spin to the R.A.F. by Picotto Remix (remixed by the original author himself). It's amazing all the way through. I still appreciate the interview, as always, great work!
Nice one! BTW, I was gonna do an interview with Mauro Picotto yesterday about "Lizard" since he had a show in Amsterdam here in The Netherlands. Unfortunately the interview didn't happen after all, but hopefully next time he's in The Netherlands I can make it happen (last time he did a Dutch show was in 2017 though, so he doesn't have a lot of Dutch gigs it seems....)
@@muzikxpress It's still very impressive how often/regularly you can deliver these high quality interviews with a wide variety of artists. I hope one day you'll be able to interview Mauro Picotto too.

Actually the stab sound which was "taken" from 1991`s track X-101 - Sonic destroyer is not one an only. They got some ideas too, such as pitched synth riff in the middle of the track I am talking about.
Such a timeless track. I assume that sample that underground resistance complained of was freely available in some sample packs or sample cards. I'm surprised Jeff mills would of seen issue with that. No doubt many others used it in tracks that were not successful.
The track sampled is X-101 - Sonic Destroyer, and if you listen to it you can hear they took more than just the stab. Jeff Mills is a pompous buffoon, so I'm not really surprised he was irritated by a superclub trance tune sampling him, even if he sampled things himself.
Hi Twan it could be great an interview to Talla, Pascal F.E.O.S. or some dutch-belgium producers. "I can feel that" from Pascal F.E.O.S. would be incredible.
Pascal F.E.O.S. did pass away in 2020…. So that’s not going to happen unfortunately. For now Talla isn’t really on my interview wish list tbh…. Keep in mind I don’t have a travel budget for these interviews. And there are plenty of interviews with producers from The Netherlands and Belgium on my channel already and there are many of them coming up in the next few months. This Sunday another interview with a producer from Belgium will be posted FYI. Oh and I’m not really doing requests, sorry! Lots of things in the works so I’m not running out of ideas anytime soon 😉 Thanks for your understanding!
