- It is death to peer beneath my magenta robe! Loom is a celebrated classic from veteran game designer Brian Moriarty. For some reason, I decided to play through the entire game in the "worst" way possible: In 4-color CGA mode with PC speaker sound.
This is an edited version of a livestream. The full VOD can be found on my 2nd channel @SQHDump: • Loom... but in 4 color...

I remember when I was convinced getting a 3 1/2 inch disk drive would take me from cga to ega
🤣🤣🤣 Oh, I have stories like these...
The color palette is great. The 1-channel ear piercing high notes on the other hand. True pain train vibes. Another great video sir. Thank you for entertaining us with old school goodness.
25:14 your brain just habituated to this graphics : DDD but sadly, mines too xD
07:48 Never knew Daffy Duck was in "Loom".
Detthhpicable!
Honestly, in the darker scenes it... doesn't look quite as horrible as I expected. A testament to how good the basic artwork is at being "within limits" that CGA-squashing didn't make it go to _complete_ shit.
PC speaker Tchaikovsky is murder, though, holy shit.
Great music on paper but that PC speaker will pierce your eardrum after a while.
Had to adjust the volume a few times throughout the stream 'cos the Pain got too much even for me. 😅
I played this one in CGA, and it was easier than similar games of the time, and it came in 3 disks; which was also good.
Gold Rush! in CGA, might be? 😅
I should probably play the game through before subjecting it to the Pain Train. Gold Rush is one of those games I've only played for 5 minutes.
It's worth a play through. Sierra onlines take on Oregon trail, sort of
So I'm told, but I was never interested in the subject matter, so I would only be playing it because people wanted me to.
holy crap! that is sooo ear-piercing! lol
don't remember having that back when doing it on me old 8086, but then again... it was kinda muffled. A case where clarity can meant really bad. lmao
Yeah, the PC speakers in ye olden days were usually mercifully muffled by the case they were surrounded with. Not so with emulators today.
I remember this game. Had it back on my old 486 system.
why we are still here? just to suffer?
Sounds about right.
Such a good game
An absolute masterpiece, and I'm not kidding.
Oh my god, I could deal with the CGA graphics, but that PC beeper 'soundtrack' made me tap out after 2 minutes. That is absolutely painful.
now play kings quest in cga
10,000 subs and I'll play Mask of Eternity in CGA.

@@spacequesthistorian Literally the only way you could make that game any worse.
