Great job. It is a trip how the industry has changed. I have been retired for five years now and remember when glueing panels first came around . Didn’t think it was a good idea, but now it seems like lots of vehicles use glue on panels. Amazing how colors have also come around. We used to jamb parts then have body man hang them then paint on car. Love to keep learning on how industry has changed . Keep educating us old guys !

Thanks for the tip on 3 coats. I'm about to spray a VW beetle with a Smyth truck conversion kit and it has lots of tight corners and curves plus I'll be spraying in the home garage in the winter.

Awesome work! Was wondering if you can give us tips on how to get different textures in clear coat. I notice on some GM cars they have more texture. I’m trying to learn to get that factory look. People I work with don’t understand that I want to do work like the car was never touched. They just tell me to spray and move on

It’s nice to see you using the DA sander. The shop I worked in did not allow any DA action lol. We hand sanded everything, generally red scotch pad for new paints and gray pad for blends. We used all solvent based Ppg products

Beautiful job on the red Corvette Kandy Man, those panels are a really difficult shape to paint so you gave us some good advice about doing three medium coats to help reduce the chances of getting runs👌

And the Ecoat on the new parts are terrible and all the OEM bumpers we get have dimples from the plastic weld of the inner structure. Always a headache when we get Vettes in the shop.

Can you define how you put on a medium coat? Are you turning down your paint supply at the gun 1 turn or another number of turns? Are you speeding up? What technique are you using to define a medium coat, full wet coat, and others?
