If he argued or got aggressive id leave before letting it escalate into a dog fight, but I'd notify the park of his dogs behavior and him not controling his dog. My male pit would recall to a point, but I'd have to get hands on him because if the dog pushed him constantly he'd get real within just a couple of seconds...
Interesting. Thanks. I have noticed some body posture clues with other dogs like a stiff stance with rigid tail wag is NOT friendly! Ear position is huge too.
I have an intact German Shepherd who is very chilled but also has the dominant assertive trait. Some dogs bare their teeth, a slight lip curl out of nerves or defensiveness or slight challenge. He does put them straight, but going into a park with loads of dogs would put me on edge as many owners are far worse than dogs.
My Shepherd / Boxer mix is similar to ronan, but he’s 4 now and quite experienced. He doesn’t play with many dogs (but has certain few he loves) and he’s a little dominant but not in a bad way. Wouldn’t change him for the world. Has never been in a dog fight only with his similar brother years ago.
I went to the dog park with my Lab so he could interact with more dogs. Big strong guy but like many Labs, zero aggression and 100% play. He had a great time. I got to know the regulars and would drive away if the wrong owners were there. But my boy kept getting eye infections from the dog park so I stopped going. My vet says a lot of his business comes from sickness picked up at dog parks. FWIW.
This is why vets won't take their dogs to dog parks. It stresses out the dogs and some people insist that their dog is not aggressive when it is. Dogs would rather just spend time with their humans anyway.
I have been to a dog park once and don't plan to do it again. I took my 3 yo GSD, Sadie, to a park in Blacksburg, VA. She was playing with a young boxer, a dance mix, and a lab mix on the dogs over 60# side. She got tired and was lying under my picnic table while I was talking to the boxer's owners. A guy brought in a smaller dog (30-40#) into the large dog side. It was a male with the canine equivalent of short man syndrome. It immediately went over and bit the boxer. The boxer was shocked but didn't respond. Then it made the mistake of biting Sadie. Sadie had him on his back in less than a second. I'm just glad I was there to control the situation. We left the park after that but the owner of the smaller dog acted as if nothing had happened. Maybe I should have just let Sadie deal with that dog.
I'm learning so much from ur descriptive interpretation of doggy language it's impressive. Just a query about lip licking, nots not always linked to nervousness is it??
Did you know that the Australian Shepherd does not exist here in Australia? What I am seeing is Coolie, (comes from Germany, works like a coolie, often has one or two blue eyes denoting, in my opinion, a cross of Siberian Husky, tough workers instinctively good with livestock), crossed with Kelpie, Border Collie, and perhaps Smithfield. The tail seems bobbed, but with Smithfield, a red or blue cattle dog, many are born without tails. Anyway, the Aussie Shepherd is a lot of dog, hybrid vigour, many Aussie breeds in one. I can see the attributes of all our working dogs. Coolie is the toughest, they get trampled in the race, they get up and get the job done, while the kelpies and collies likely slink away. Coolies also discerning but fierce guards. I love all these Malinois videos that pop up in my feed. Superb breed, smartest I have ever seen. Ha! When you say intact, I say entire.
First of all, letting your dog go inside the park with an excited, pacing behavior, was your first mistake. That caused problems. I don’t think you quite understand dog behavior as well as you think you do. That’s why the other dogs were acting like that towards your dog. You’re lucky he didn’t cause an all out fight. If you’d stayed, blood would have been drawn for sure.
No, that Aussie and pit were the aggressive and not good candidates for a dog park. Ronin gave non aggressive de escalating gestures and that is a characteristic of a solid dod that is perfect for a service dog

FWIW.
This is only one of the reasons why I would never take my dog to a dog park. Because of the dog owners, they live in a La La Land
if your dog is well trained you wont have a big issue.
you vids are very good...appreciate your insight.. subbed
You know alot about dogs thats a good thing .. wish i did
dogs have the most unspoken rizz
This whole situation is a recipe for disaster.
I think poodles are scary sometimes too! LOL
They are unnatural is why. No natural dog was meant to look that way
Did you know that the Australian Shepherd does not exist here in Australia?
Ha! When you say intact, I say entire.
that lady needs to train Kevin Smfh
Maybe that's why they were there. To learn around dogs in the intended environment
Whose the dogs owners? Your dig is obviously well trained.❤
Nice video. Just want to point out that that’s not an Australian shepherd at the beginning, it’s a Kelpie. 😊
6:33 that dog looks badass
Great video, thank you!
I think that's why he's so nice and left. Because he knows that his dog drawls behavior
No, that Aussie and pit were the aggressive and not good candidates for a dog park. Ronin gave non aggressive de escalating gestures and that is a characteristic of a solid dod that is perfect for a service dog
Id love to have a that Malinois !
Excellent video
