Hi guys, great video (again) liked the last track day vid too! Im too on the same journey just coming upto a year now with my Clio 182 i bought in Dec 2017 for trackday use. I pretty much had the same costs as you for getting the car ready but the actual car was quite a bit higher in price to buy as i bought from a dealer. I have done 5 track days this year and driven to them all and touch wood the little clio has been perfect! Other than upgrading the brakes (EBC Yellow stuff pads) after a new set of stock pads disintegrated after 1 track day i haven't don't much else to the car. She's just gone through her first MOT with me and all good no issues or advisories. Your right about the insurance mine was £480 for the first year and i'm 46 and just got the renewal and i was really pleased its come down to £200 after 1 years no claims so thats great news. I hope your's will come down too. If you do any track days at Donnington or Oulton Park let us know as it would be good to meet up and have some fellow clio trackday guys to chat to. Keep the vids coming! cheers
These videos are a good watch. I'm looking to turn my daily civic type r into a track slag once it's done with its daily duties so watching these vids gives me a good insight into the journey. Subbed! 👍
aevans148 good to hear you like them! If you like driving and messing about with cars you can’t really beat a cheap track car! So much fun, highly recommend doing it! Civic type r is a great choice, high revving NA engine 👌
That’s a fantastic spend considering you’ve had some track days and use of the car every day, very well done ! I’ve kept the receipts from my 172 PH1 build, but I’d hate to total it all up ! Consider looking into AD08R’s or NS2R’s for some middle of the field priced rubber. A rear anti roll bar does benefit these quite nicely, mostly with killing the understeer.
I did a track day few weeks ago at brands on AD08R's in the wet and they performed very well once I had sorted out what pressures to run on, keep up the great work
I’m on the same journey as you guys, great cars! You should think about some good pads, discs, fluids and lines! Keep the videos coming they are great to watch👍
Keilan Shortt thanks mate!we’ve already got braided lines and have upgraded the fluid. The last track day we did a few weeks ago killed the pads and has wrecked one of the discs so will be sorting the brakes with track specific pads very soon!
Shocks and springs are so cheap to buy! Cooksports springs and Cup shocks come highly rated on the forums. I’m currently doing a suspension refresh and I’ve just bought all the parts. Great value for money
Guys That Drive Are you looking for Cooksport springs or another brand? I hear that Grams Racing and Eibach springs are also good but for track use I’d personally use the Cooksport’s. From what everyone is saying, to beat the cooksports on handling you’d have to spend £700+ on a set of Bilstein B14’s and upwards. Look forward to seeing the video though 👍🏼
Get some Kumho Ecsta Le Sport KU39 High Performance Tyres they cheep and very grippy wet and dry got them on my 2008 Clio 197 cup and car sticks to road going round corners at speed
Yes it did. We have gone with Greenlight this year, was £260 including all current mods and any others so long as does not increase the power (induction kit is okay.. and probably doesn't increase power anyway!)
fantastic video! thinking about doing a little track day car, but seems like a bottomless pit. have you compared it to the cost of renting a race car?

@@16vKarlos We are looking for Cooksports ideally yeah, the other option we are considering are Eibach Sportlines
Great stuff! Top value for the fun factor...Cadwell and Blyton parks are the perfect Clio tracks for you boys next year. Keep the super videos coming.
Cadwell Park looks decent, on the list next year definitely
For including the tax, insurance and track days that's pretty good
yeah its not too bad really, 2nd year costs will be much lower! got insurance considerably cheaper than first year
Get some Kumho Ecsta Le Sport KU39 High Performance Tyres they cheep and very grippy wet and dry got them on my 2008 Clio 197 cup and car sticks to road going round corners at speed
robert james sorting tyres very soon!
Does that insurance quote include mods?
Yes it did. We have gone with Greenlight this year, was £260 including all current mods and any others so long as does not increase the power (induction kit is okay.. and probably doesn't increase power anyway!)
