- Drop rates for both the rewards and the creature parts have been announced! In addition, a new pity system has been added to put a threshold on how long your tasks will go, so no more 500+ butterflies for one task!

I've tested the pity system for red chins:
For the last 3 tasks I got the fur on the 96th catch. I think either the 94 is incorrect or there are more factors to the dry protection.

It might have something to do with the guild hunter outfit then, as I was 4/4 with 94 consistently
I can confirm this for grey chins too. With 3/4 hunter outfit pieces (head, top, legs), I got the fur on 96, and when I destroyed the part 3 times in a row, I kept getting the fur every chin afterwards.
@@doubleshine pretty sure the base rate for chins is 100 then, without any hunter outfit parts. For example 3/4 hunter parts is 3.6% since people seem to get the pieces from top to bottom so no boots yet, and a consistent 96 makes sense with that catch rate increase. What's weird though is you getting the parts at 94 instead of 95 with the 5% boost, I'm guessing the decimals get rounded down to whole numbers and that there's an insanely small 0.0000...% that comes somewhere from the hunter set (possibly a float or some other coding fuckery) - making the catch rate 94.9999...% and it rounds it down to 94 for you, which is technically bug abuse. Can't believe you've done this
with 0 pieces I got it at 98
I get 98 consistently on red chins, with 2 pieces of hunter gear.

Pity system appears to be 2x the droprate of the rare part, minus the hunter outfit buff, then rounded down. Hunters outfit also seems to have a rounding error where the base catch increase rate isn't exactly 5%, but a decimal number slightly higher than 5% - this makes it so whole numbers get rounded down by 1 extra. To get this 1 fewer animal you have to catch, the pity system droprate has to be divisible by 20 since that's the only way you can get a whole number not including the rounding error. So this would only apply to chinchompas, falcon and bird tasks, but not the other tasks.
These should be the pity rates with full hunters outfit equipped unless I've missed something

This was buried in a comment chain, but I've parsed more mechanics of the pity system and parts!
It's possible (condor figured it out) to forcespawn extra rare parts with a full inventory (besides whatever you get from the creature). You can, if you're fast enough, turn in a task and rush back to pick up a 2nd part (or even a 3rd if they're close by and you're really lucky). This extra part WILL work for your new rumour, if it's for the same creature (or they're both kebbits), letting you breeze past that rumor!
Buuuuut, the game is aware of whether you have a rare part in your inventory and will refuse to give you another, even of a different kind. I tested this with a kebbit tuft in inventory at chins, went over the pity timer by 20 or so, destroyed the kebbit part, and immediately hit the pity system as shown by receiving a series of 4 chin parts in a row after destroying them.
So this can be used, with either back-to-back rumors turned on and/or 2 kebbits in a row, to immediately solve your next rumor. However, you can't keep it in your inventory AND do a new rumor.
I have not tested the exact despawn timer of the part, so if it does what random events do for whatever reason and lasts forever you could potentially keep it on the ground and use it later if you get another of the relevant task.
Wouldn't hurt to go for the extra rare part after hitting pity timer in those cases, just leave it there and if you get a b2b task just run back and get it. Worth doing imo on low variety hunters like the master one or kebbit experts

Getting to master tasks should be much more consistent now which is nice. Also after knowing the drop rates I realize how extremely lucky I was. I got my full set at 66 rumors and the pet at 106(most of those were adept)
3 out of 4 in the first 40 rumors, 0 in the next 60. So I'm still above rate lol
0 outfit at 156, at least i got the kit lol
@@jhill66666 the kit is way more important than the outfit will ever be now that you can store basically every piece of equipment you'll need
Meanwhile I'm at 460 rumours and only 3/4 pieces. Took me 110 rumours to get the Huntsman's Kit.

My prayers were heard! I was so annoyed when, on day 3 I had a deadfall task and it toke about 250-300 successful traps before i had the needed item.

I have not unlocked box traps yet, should I or would it be more beneficial to stay away from longer tasks like chins?
Chins will slow down your rumors per hour, however they do give pretty solid xp rates and of course, chins to sell.
So I would still do chins personally unless you're really trying to go for max xp rates or max sacks per hour to get the pet/outfit
if you know you're 1 kc before threshold on whichever task, can you fill your inventory so the rare part drops to the ground and farm a bunch of them?
I think you can but I have not found any use in doing so, as you turn in all your rare parts at once. I'll test if you can turn in and go back to get the one on the ground
@@doubleshine gotcha, I'm gonna mess with it a bit tomorrow. They spent a lot of time last summer putting in protections against force dropping like that (mostly with quest items). If they despawn as fast as regular dropped items, probably not too useful

@@doubleshine Just tested, and confirmed to work! It almost certainly happens for what I assume is the exact same reason as the kebbit swap works: they just all share the same item ID and checking for rumor completion is actually them seeing if you have an item ID matching their criteria and yoinking it.
In theory, this should work for any task, not just kebbits (though kebbits are interchangeable, which helps). If a task sucks, grind it until the pity rate, force-spawn 2 parts, turn in one, sprint back to the task area if you can before despawn timers kick in, grab the 2nd drop, and hold the other for the next time you get the task.
Testing that now, I have a kebbit tuft with me on a chin task. Will update with results.
E: I only have 1/4 outfit pieces, so maybe there's an error there, but I have not gotten the chin part 120 chins in. I destroyed the tuft and immediately got the chin part. I suspect the game checks to see if you have a part of any kind and then refuses to give you another.
...this will probably get coldfixed and is definitely unintended.
