He was a resident when I work in the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Ophthalmology clinic and he was one of my favorite residents. He is an amazing guy and doctor.
Bring on the snarky comments!! 😂 Jealous?? Ridiculous, everyone knows you and Dr. Glaucomflecken are both top tier. My upload calendar has had a similar video on your content pencilled in for 2/12 since Christmas 💅 Really though, thanks so much for watching, you’re awesome!!
I worked as an office assistant in an ortho office. Sometimes I would go to the cafe, but would ask people in the office if they wanted anything. One provider, any time I asked him, would say what he wanted, give me his badge to buy it, then tell me to use it to get myself something. Out of 7 providers, he was the only one who ever did that.
I really enjoyed this video. With the addition of Dr. Glucomfleken, was a nice unexpected gift. Love the glasses. I agree, sometimes making fun of the most horrible situations, is therapeutic! Keep up the good work!
Do you think the culture in med school/medicine of being overworked, lack of sleep, lack of adequate nutrition etc. leads to doctors not valuing quality of life concerns of their patients? I’d imagine subconsciously they’d take patient’s concerns of fatigue, chronic pain, mental burnout etc. less seriously if they’ve been told for years to suck it up themselves
I'm not a doctor yet but I definitely think there's room for improvement in medical culture as far as not pushing trainees to their physical and mental limits for years on end. We're taught in med school all the time to find ways to make connections with patients and empathize as much as possible, but I agree it's probably very difficult sometimes for a burned out doctor to connect and empathize when their own needs are being pushed aside by both the doctor and the system they work in.

I was one of the "lucky" ones as I was able to save about 3 semesters of tuition before going to med school. And I was able to work in a lab part of the time to continue to earn money and then in 3rd year of residency we could moonlight after we passed the USMLE boards. That helped a ton!! As a resident we used to order food and have the operator announce "GI rounds" so all the residents on call could come and eat. As an attending when I was on the weekends as a hospitalist I would go out and buy a ton of Indian food at a local restaurant and make sure every resident (and med student!) on call with me got a chance to eat!! Although call hours did improve after I left residency (we were on 28 hour shifts every fourth night in IM residency on the floors! that never happens now!) it is still a hard job to get through residency and I applaud Dr G for making the case that residents should not be considered just low cost labor for the hospital. Great job and I look forward to more of these!
That’s amazing!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I’m sure that made such a huge difference for the residents, when I work with them they’re always so excited and appreciative when anyone brings in food! 💕
I try to save money when it comes to school but when they recommend cutting out buying coffee they've crossed the line. Veterinary medicine and coffee are a match made in heaven.
That is so disgraceful, just finished my RN in Australia and yes it was financially hard to do placements but that is just exploitation. I caught covid during my placement and uni contacted me to say “hey we herd you caught covid during your placement, email this address and say you are in financial hardship and we will send you $200” and they actually did, not a loan, a $200 Woolworths card that I could use as I needed to pay for food and fuel for me and the family
@Elizabeth Mayberry someone should try and help him. I know of a lot of MDs on youtube, but none specializing in mental health or self-care... I think someone should take a look at him.
The whole Ramen thing is just a college student thing in general, but I reckon that depending on what you are studying your ability to make money working on the side of your studies can change your financial situation a fair bit.
You can't say you really like the financial advisors but also say bless their hearts in the same sentence. Everyone knows "bless your heart" is the ultimate insult!
Thank you so much!! Premed is such a grind but ✨you got this✨ and if you have questions about premed/med school stuff feel free to comment/DM me anytime! 💕
I'm still preparing for med school entrance exams and I love binge-watching his videos! I loved your reaction. Hopefully I'll make it to med school soon ❤️

And This Is perfect.
Here with Dr G!
Dr. G loves your glasses, but he’d really like to talk to you about RK. 🤓
WOW thanks so much for watching and sharing! Glasses it is 👍🏼
You forgot to mention when she gets Jonathon most of the stress goes away

Crunched up Ramen noodles straight up with the powder is still my guilty pleasure 😉
i love that for you

Excellent dietary choices!

Just don’t let Bill Bill the Resident teach you to write TPN orders.
Haha i remember that one
I hear he writes them with his eyes closed!
@@MrsMBash22 we’re pretty worried about Bill Bill. :)

This is why I'm so glad I love research, so I've decided to pursue the MD/PhD track. Noooo student debt for me!!!! Hopefully...

Marlee, love your videos. Welcome to medicine! It’s a wonderful career path. And… don’t forget to take an elective in Palliative Medicine.
Thank you so much!! And I absolutely will, palliative specialists are all around the kindest docs I’ve ever met ❤️
The glasses are great!
These were great lol 😂
Love the content! Keep it up!
Thanks so much!!
I have no medicine knowledge so the in-jokes go over my head, but I enjoy bingeing his stuff regardless. 😅
don't worry, i have some (not much) medical knowledge and I still google a bunch of stuff he mentions to get the jokes 😂
You said “bless their hearts.”
That means you’re a Texas! At least by adoption. My daughter is a 4th yr at UTMB Galveston, I feel your pain… at least by proxy.
i dont say this often enought BUT im so glad i opted for veterinary medicine xD

Nice , enjoyable video ☺️👍🏻
Is it true that dental school can be more expensive then Medical school? Thanks love the videos!
Hi thanks so much!! 💕 It varies from school to school and whether or not you have a scholarship/grant but short answer is yes!
With a good multi, some tuna or casein and some olive oil, Bill will be fine
With optional psyllium husk powder
Honestly they should be giving out free multivitamins instead
How do you have time to make UA-cam videos?
good question, answer is I don’t lol making videos is how I cope/take a break 🙃
❤❤❤❤
You must work for 3M.
