I'm gonna brainstorm my question/questions here. Do you have a vid on how to break into PI slowly, meaning in a short term way, like staying 30 to 90 days? Short term rental near good restaurants. I've got the cost of flights, basic travel needs in place. I'm trying to get a foot hold in PI & feel my way around. I'm not sure if I'll like it so I need to start out with week to week or month to month rentals tell I can decided to stay. Good health, good food are important, access to heathcare & a good gym are important.
Looks like a much better than your previous location than Danao. I used to live on that end of Cebu. There's really nothing there for expats, until you actually get into the city proper. I know the exchange rate fluctuates but it might be helpful to post what you pay in PHP. My rent varies based on the exchange rate. It's all about location here and even with a higher price you're not going to escape noise so my rule of thumb is never live next to a chapel, a basketball court. The street dogs are everywhere like the roosters. The dogs will crap right in the middle of the street or right in front of your gate if you rent a house. Best Bet is a Condo!!
Great place. Always worth it to pay a little more for peace and quiet away from the roosters, dogs and karaoke.

Wow, this condo and area is right up my alley. I would need the western lifestyle, and this place (condo, beach) checks the boxes. I couldn't deal in the provinces, with the loud karaoke and dogs, I would lose it! 🤣😂😆

It looks nice, especially by Philippine standards. I wouldn’t call it high end though. It’s got virtually no architecture to it. It’s a box in a building. Thailand has nicer condos for cheaper. If you want to live in Philippines though, it looks comfortable.
I viewed some condos and developments on Mactan while in Cebu a few years ago. I wasn't crazy about the location only because of the isolation feel of being away from everything but it seems now they have built all the modern living amenities in Newtown. Very nice.
I'm assuming 20k peso is the pandemic pricing. Do you know what they would normally lease? 40K perhaps?

Yes, it is much better to stay there for a while until they figure out details during the COVID Virus era, thank you for the tour. Very nice ,with high tech, you still can't get away with not having the wires, hang your drawers on the balcony. It's worth 400 a month. Yes the noise might be an issue for me too.
Great video. Mactan Newtown is a huge complex. Very clean but very remote and away from the action. But condo prices there are much lower than in Cebu City. Great place to use as a base if you travel a lot around the Philippines.

I watched the video again, I noticed the balcony is pretty small especially when they take up space and have the AC unit there. I'm not sure if a table or chair will fit lol

How did you find the condos or houses for rent? Did you go to the Facebook groups? I searched the Philippines' websites and hardly find any that have a lot of listings and provide detailed information about the rental properties.

Hopefully we will be neighbOUrs (Canadian Spelling, but I am living in Bend Oregon USA). I am headed to Mactan Newtown also, as soon as flight restrictions are lifted, I am hoping to do the Cebu Ironman 70.3 next year, it was cancelled this year, but will probably rent the condo for the year and will do the Ironman in Subic Bay and Davao also. I just need a home base to keep my bike and stuff.

I am
only downside of Lapu-Lapu / Mactan is there are no public beaches anymore and Resorts along the ocean want stupid money (8000-10000 pesos per night) to stay there or thousands for a day pass. I don't bother with that ripoff I'll just take a bus down to Moalboal and Oslob or take a Jomalia jet boat to Camotes Island. I do however recommend Mangrove Place and Cafe Cappuccino not far from you, good service at both. Great preview vid

We are not satisfied with our unit at Tower A 12F.
We've been complaining the hot water for almost 3 months, the in-charge with SPA was a total nightmare and the management has no control, no coordination. Thanks God anyway!

Hi Gio, I will be in Cebu next week. Are these units available on a monthly basis? I plan to spend 4-5 days in a resort. Then I’d like to experience what life would be like in the Cebu area. I may visit Dumaguete also. I’m looking for a place to land. I’ve spent a couple months in a province. It’s anything but quiet. Roosters…. And I would prefer a little more modern place to live. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
There are units usually available for long leases. Short term on Airbnb.

Hi Gio. Milos from Oslo. To me your and Paul's condo looks the same!? Are you both staying in same building? It looks to me your condo is around 30 square meters condo but fine with me. Don't mind minimize my life. I like that bedroom is by its own. Doing my second Moderna vaccination in 2 weeks and hope they will let me in Philippines in September on my holiday. Thailand will accept vaccinated people and no quarantine what i read. If not possible going to Philippines i have to choose Thailand then. Stay healthy and safe.

that's a nice new place Gio the only thing I noticed where dryers for doing laundry exist here in the Philippines is condos or apartments maybe cause they don't want people hanging there clothes outside to dry and that's cool that you still pay the same price you can't find something like that in America with the Amenities you said

Could you or others comment on the 'guest friendly' policy of quality condos in Cebu City? I am planning on long term stay starting ~a year from now in a condo (~$650/mo) rather than standard apartment/hotel.. Assuming covid is NOT a factor by then, do condos with security as a general practice restrict entry of legit dates or pros? What might the rules be in 6 months if covid is still a factor? It’s nice, but small. My guess is 325 sq.ft - maybe. I would say it’s a decent deal, not a great deal. With utilities, internet, etc., it’ll probably be at least $600-ish per month - not counting food, entertainment, transpo and a Filipina gf.
For me it is a great deal. It wasn't the size of the condo so much as it was the ammenities and the location of it that made it so attractive for me.
Seems a fine condo to me. I can imagine the noise polution in the Philippines making one crazy. Personally I am waiting to be able to visit the Philippines again, my current hope is to be there in December - but I am not making any solid plans yet. Enjoy your new home base!
