I watch all of your amazing videos to the very end and more than once. Please, never stop talking. Your narration is so helpful and quite relaxing as an added bonus. I imagine that your mellow voice certainly calms the fear of getting started painting for your many thousands of UA-cam students.
I should add that I am a graduate of a now defunct art school & you are a better actual instructor than the painting teachers that "taught" me in school. I worked in commercial art (before computers) for a few years but, never attempted oil painting just for my own personal satisfaction until now. Decades later. Please stay healthy and continue putting up videos.

👍🏽Second that, absolutely. His narrative calms me down, conducive to a looser feel to my painting.

@@user-ti6ke8jn6q Hello. If you are interested, I wanted you to know Stuart is doing live Zoom classes two Saturdays a month. The next one is September 25th. Stuart’s videos teach me many things too😊. I am now a Patron through his Patreon account.
I pay only $15.00 a month for the live group Zoom classes as a Patron. No other costs. Stuart creates a painting in approximately 60 minutes. After that part ends, those of us attending the Zoom class will talk with Stuart and each other. We can ask or type questions to him as well. Or, you can remain silent and just listen😊. It is a very enjoyable event. You can speak to him directly in the zoom class should you choose 😊. Happy painting 🎨

    Hi Stuart,
Thank you for inviting me to watch your video of Dramatic Sky. I love it! Right now I’m focusing on more using color to give my paints more contrast with my sky’s and water paintings. Really appreciate that. I’m giving my art a 100% since a job loss in back in May.

Mr.Davias, I'm so happy to be a witness to your paintings and techniques. I love to here you speak and there's nothing wrong you can do. The viewers have to be patient and understanding of your time. Otherwise, they should go to a gallery where they can just spend 1 minute on each painting and not learn a thing or two. I'm so inspired by you, your the first person ever to speak the truth about oils and how you don't follow the rules. Because of this I'm going to start painting in oils and give it a whirl. I was gifted some oils when I was younger and put them away because I was afraid of them. I'm untrained but I have always painted in water colors and acrylics. I'm so excited to try oils that my first attempt will the beginning of July. Thank you for sharing.

I love to watch this video from the beginning to the very end and see the magic that comes from it as you play with both the sky and the landscape. Such a talented man. You have been a great inspiration as I learn to paint in this style. My most favorite style anymore. Having started painting 30 years ago with watercolors, I no longer am interested in water color. Oil painting is so much more exciting for me these days. Thank you again for the many wonderful videos you have made.❤

I have watched this video many many times. I take screen shots of different stages. I am painting in acrylics. Only because I already have a lot of them. So to make the paint move and blend I use Atelier thick slow medium. Also with Atelier paints you can spray the canvas gently with water and ‘reactivate’ the paint. You can also thin the medium with a little water. I must say, that my painting does not look like yours Stuart, although I am reasonably pleased with the result, but it is not finished yet. It is my intention to change to oils sooner or later. So, thank you Stuart. You are a great inspiration to me. I have only put the info on using acrylics because other viewers have asked about them.

For those that don’t paint, you really don’t know how hard your brain tries to stop you from painting freely.Although it looks like and seems like putting paint in a free and what looks like random or accidental ways is the most difficult discipline. To not succum to the brain’s desire to make things symmetrical, orderly and balanced in a certain way is very, very hard to do. Of course the painting is balanced, symmetrical and orderly, but not in the way your brain tries to force you to do.For those of us who do paint,we know the pressure and traps our brains try to impose on us,kudos to you Spencer.Nicely done and presented. You know your medium well.

My daughter earned her BFA degree at the Cleveland Institute of Art. It was a 5-year program that was totally challenging. First requirement was a woodworking class so she learned first to make her own canvases and work with tools. Classes were 8-hour, and 1-day per week, but design and painting classes were challenging and demanding. She learned and went on to earn an MFA from the Claremont Graduate University in California. She has never stopped growing and thinking, but I'm sure her painting has challenged her to be an amazing person.

ON YOUR VIDEO THE ILLUSION OF DETAIL, YOU AMAZED ME AT HOW MUCH DETAIL YOU COULD SEE IN AN ILLUSION! :-) I ALSO LOVE THE FACT THAT YOU TALKED ABOUT USING BRUSHES FROM THE HARDWARE STORE. SINCE 1978 I HAVE WORKED IN WATER COLOR, HOWEVER I LIKE TAKING COLOR THEORY AND APPLYING TO DIFFERENT ART FORMS AND FOUND MYSELF GROWING MORE INTERESTED IN OIL PAINTING. I AM SO HAPPY AND PLEASED THAT YOU FREELY SHARE YOUR EXPERTISE AND KNOWLEDGE IN VIDEO HERE. YOU HAVE HELPED ME NOT TO BE SO FEARFUL OF OIL PAINTING. I WILL ADD HERE THAT I WAS DRAWN TO YOUR "LOOSE & FREE" STYLE, AS THAT STYLE IS THE STYLE I LIKE DOING IN WATERCOLOR.

Ur work is masterful...my father never understood that I was an artist...I always was and am...he thought I should be an engineer so I would always have a job! I told him I wanted to play music and be a fictional horror writer ( since I excelled in school with writing)...he never heard my work, never read a novel never saw my oil works and never came to my concerts where I played lead guitar and sang lead. I told him, “ dad not all of us are meant to be engineers, some of us create beauty in this drab boring world. I see beyond what the normal is...I see beauty in a sky, a field, an ocean, etc...). I always waited for that word of encouragement and a nod of understanding...never happened. My mother nurtured the artist in me...and sir, u too nurture the artist I am...I told dad I may never me a Monet or Renoir or DaVinci but I am me and no one delivers art the way I see it...thank u sir. And I apologize for the “novel” expose...I meant it to be a line or two.

You are excellent company and I enjoyed watching the whole video and listening to you talk about what you were doing or whatever else you could think of to say was fine too. I only subscribed today and I've watched 4 or so of your videos already.

Thank you very much Stuart Davies, i´m starting to use flax oil instead of turpentine or liquin, cause of seeing the way you move the paint brushes and the high teachs of paints details without details, and a new art world is opening for me.

I'm not sure that I'd call myself a "serious" painter, but, I did watch your video till the end and subscribed. I've only been painting for about a year and have been only doing the wet on wet technique. Learned by watching Bob Ross and Bill Alexander videos. I think your work is wonderful! That sky is amazing!! Can't wait to see more.
