For a while there, I would listen to Andrew saying 'always save your tonal best for last' over and over again in each video and I would slap myself in the forehead. But... I gave it an honest effort in my most recent painting AND IT WORKED AMAZINGLY. Thank you so much for the tips, Andrew. Your videos helped inspire me to dedicate a good portion of my quarantine time to painting.
LOVE it! And your video editing is getting seriously on game. This is like a mini-tv show. Super painting and great teaching technique. Thanks for sharing this!
It's always amazes me how older people look outright beautiful in a well painted portrait. Something about the lines from a well lived life breathes life in to them. Wonderful painting, good job! Oh and Merry Christmas!
Very true. It seems like more than half the portraits I have painted have been of older people, and just something about all the wrinkles and lines and smile lines all give the person more character. Some would tell me not to include a certain shadow or wrinkle but I did anyway because it was the most honest portrayal of the person and it’s what gave more realism to the portrait. I can agree that painting younger people is a little more “boring” because it’s harder to see any angles, everything just kind of blends into each other.
@@hannahuahh I agree, I love to paint old people all those lines and variety of shades in their flesh translates into a perfect portrayal of who they are and where they have been
Having been an educator I enjoy seeing these new videos and it gladdens me to see the number of your followers increasing so much since I first started following you. I've purchased several tutorials for my youngest daughter but have enjoyed watching them as well. Another great add to your teaching collection Andrew! All the best to you and Rachel over the holidays and stay safe and healthy.
Starting with mid tones actually makes a lot of sense so that you can gauge more accurately where your shadows and highlights will be in relation, color-wise. Nicely done!
I like the tempo in which you speak, especially during your intro. Your model really is a great example and he looks so cool and very classical! Thank you! Your work is beautiful! I like that you invented your own paint brushes with the sharp angles!
Amen! Hahaha I thought I was the only one that noticed that. AND he had his clothes on! Lol thank God 😊 is it just me or are the nude portrait guys just closet pervs? Lol I know I know, it's just "art"....that's what I said when she caught me looking at porn. "It's to help us stay passionate dear!"
@@DCweldingAndArt wow I wasn't expecting to unleash all that. I have nothing against pretty girls, I love them, what I mean is that there are other kinds of people to portray too.
So much to learn from you, sir. Here, though, as in the other portrait video, the nose is just a little over-sized. Just a little beyond what could be attributed to perspective distortion.
I LOVE watching you paint, your techniques, and use of color, form, shape, light and shadow come together for a gorgeous portrait. Well done! Always something to learn, and you make me want to attempt portrait painting!
Hello Andrew! I am a big fan of yours here in the Philippines. I am an amateur artist but I have learned a lot watching your clips. Thank you for all these knowledgeable videos and sharing some tips on oil painting. You are one of my art heroes! Godbless!
I was watching your beautiful landscapes and i realize that i`d love to see a beautiful sunset at sea with a few pink clouds. Maybe someday, thanks so much for the great content in your channel! xoxo Mariana
Wow Andrew! I could watch this all day and keep learning! Always a pleasure watching and learning from a true "Young Master". Happy Holidays and congrats on finishing your wall size painting!
love the demo .my family knows you as my online art teacher haha -yes you are because i never skip an episode- merry chrismas wishes from Africa. i would like to see a demo on dark skin tone with the tishdaggers.
Hi Andrew, I'm glad you're back with new videos (I was really hoping for a portrait, I really have a lot to learn in this field), I hope I can see it today. Following you on social media I already knew that you had finished Big Red, and having followed its creation since the collection of references, I'm really happy to see it finished, it's really beautiful, congratulations. I'm in Italy and the situation here is not very good (although much less difficult than it was in the spring) but we try to stay positive and leave the house as little as possible (to think that I started 2020 with the decision to visit some European zoological parks with a couple of friends and colleagues, to collect references! I guess I'll have to wait until at least 2022 (more likely 2023, but whatever, I'll work on something else). In the meantime, we are preparing for a Christmas lunch by video conference (my mother declined the invitation because she says she is embarrassed). Merry Christmas to you too, I can't wait to see the new content you are preparing!
As always a pleasure to see you work! I'm only starting to paint but I promise that as soon I feel more secure with all the process I'll get one of yours tutorials. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and good vibes!! =)
every time I watch one of your videos I am instantly inspired to jump back into the studio. I am going to challenge myself to take a bit lighter of an approach to my next piece rather than packing in color
Hello my dear painter friend Andrew. Xmas greetings to you, Rachel and your family, there in New Zealand. I always enjoy watching you work and showing your skills with us on UA-cam as well as your podcasting etc. As I have often said Andrew, For me, you are The Master and your tutorials are packed full of tuitional elements geared towards helping others, myself included, in improving our skills and trying to attain to the level of ability that you so brilliantly display in your demos to us, as you unvail the importance of contrast between light and dark. PS: love your work and that latest painting hanging on your studio wall. Much love and best wishes for 2021 Paul from Southampton, UK
New fans you sir. I really enjoyed your explained while painting. This is second video to figure or learn for me how your hand dance on canvas. Nice video :)
Another sensational video! It was a real Christmas gift ⛄🎁. I would like to thank you for all the videos you posted this year. It was very important for me and I learned a lot from them. Thanks so much Claudio, glad my little efforts here could make some difference. I appreciate the feedback and the kind words. Have a great Christmas mate!
You flattered your subject by 10 plus years. Nice
That yellowish highlight on the right eyebrow is my favorite part, so cool. Golden yellows are so key

This is an amazing UA-cam art channel. In a better world there is a cable TV art channel, and Andrew Tischler definitely has a show on it.

“I pulled a sneaky on ya” classic! 😂
his technique is like a Rembrandt.

I like this portrait a lot. This is my personal favourite portrait by Andrew now.
Amazing to see you draw directly on the canvas with a brush and obtain such incredible results.
It's a pleasure just to watch your posts.
The level of quality and smoothness of the shaded areas and lit areas. Excellent painting.
I love the way you explain everything , mixing colors and the effects it gives . Merci beaucoup et joyeuse fête
This is fabulous. Its so good & refreshing to hear you voice & see you again.
No comparison so no words to comment about masterpieces.. each piece is a masterpiece.

"this is about my one hour mark." *proceeds to just throw out all my painting supplies and enrolls in business school instead*
Me looking at my finance masters and BFA undergrad: "No. That would be strange."
