- An interesting Finals match between the No. 1 and No. 5 seeds. The score was a surprise to me! Oren in red looks like a young man playing tennis. Francisco looks like a 55+ playing tennis. Both obviously very good, but Oren still has the agility of a much younger man. That makes it almost impossible Francisco.
Thanks for posting these, always fun to watch.
Glad you like them! I should be putting more up in the coming month or two.
hi mike! I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your videos and commentary. Ive been mostly quarinted for the past 2 years due to covid and bed resting from surgeries. Watching your videos has been a favorite thing for me to do and I just wanted to say thank you for providing such quality tennis!
Glad to hear it! Appreciate the good word and I hope you don't mind using the right arrow key to jump forward. Sorry to hear about the surgeries but I hope maybe they are going to be behind you.
Up until a few years ago, Oren has been playing at the ITF challenger's circuit...He is in top physical shape and very agile on the court... The score didn't surprise me at all...Francisco had to play a very different style of game to present any challenges to Oren...
I guess that makes sense but just watching a few points, it looked like Francisco was hanging in there. He has such big shots! Oren is not flashy, he just doesn't miss and even when he hits winners, it doesn't look like he put out that much effort.
@@10smike Oren has very solid resume and vast experience, Francisco's slice bh didn't bother him at all
Oren is a classic, consistent, pusher. Hardly ever takes risks and uses tons of moon-balls, especially with his forehand. Francisco is definitely more of a risk taker, but his backhand isn't as consistent as his forehand. Interesting match.
Oren's backhand reminds me Borg's backhand...
Does anyone know, or can anyone estimate roughly what speed the serves are ?
played Oren twice in doubles at national grass back to back . He's amazing
Yeah, and he is smooth and effortless looking, and a smart player. But can he play the net??
Thanks
Anybody know if Oren is playing the Clash 100 or the 100 Pro?
I was wondering the same thing, he used to use a Prince Diablo OS I think ?
@@anthonytatu5932 Oren is using the Clash Pro. It has been professionally extended but I forget if its 27.5 or 28'' like his old Diablo's that were OS and 28"
@@billycasas133 I don't doubt you, but I actually asked him and he says regular Clash 100 🤣
Were the ball and towel boys/girls on strike?
Good observation where the heck were they?
Great match, very entertaining thanks Mike! A result that I think could easily be reversed, the two players must not have played one another before, and a good example of why you should always go with your deepest shot regardless of the opponent. Francesco had a much deeper forehand but got tied down into chipping his backhand because he was trying to avoid the left hander forehand wing - but in this case I think it would have been a successful strategy. Oren could not match him on forehand and anything deep and bouncy on that side would have troubled him - players were much more evenly matched than the scores would indicate. Maybe next time! Hopefully Francesco has had a look at the video
Great analysis! I too thought Francesco played much better that the score indicates. Just goes to show how important strategy/tactics are. You only have to beat their weakest stroke.
Surprised it wasn't 1 & 0...as Oren's done for 40+ years...from S Fl juniors
Thanks Mike!
You bet! Was it okay to advance with the arrow key? Saves me a whole lot of work!
@@10smike Yes, it helped - you had mentioned it in one of your previous videos. Most people don't realize how much work it takes just to upload a video here; it takes at least 30 minutes for a video of this size, and then you have to do the 'tags' etc. I can only imagine the time it takes to edit etc. Anyway, keep 'grinding', we are watching, and enjoying your work. Hope to see some more of YOUR games this Summer.🏆
@@10smike Yes, a lot. You should mention it in every video. I couldn't have watched without that advice. It was perfect knowing you could forward like that.
seems like there's a big increase in explosive speed when you go down from 60's to 55's. big homie in red still def has wheels
Many guys just switch to doubles in their early 30's so props to these guys for playing singles.
Oren is a beast 🎾🏆
No argument here! :)
Oren still plays open divisions as well near, in, Boca. Effortless, as he may weigh 135.
Wow, I'd like to see that! He must play a more aggressive game against younger players, no? Is he capable of changing his game like that?
Oren doesn't change his game...if 20>25 year old is as consistent, he wins.
How id Oren 55? He looks 35!
What is level #2?
Well, Level 1 is like Grand Slam National Tournaments ( only 4 per year and worth up to 1000 pts towards ranking so top players show up). Level 2 is more regional with 500 pts up for grabs and there's more tournaments. And so on down to Level 5 I believe.
Is it like 4.0?
The score hasn’t updated on the screen
My bad, apologies.
i thought this was two different age categories. Francisco just can't match Oren's fitness level or mobility.
Start backhand with both hands and finish with just one...
The guy in the white shirt needs to read Vic Braden book His serve does not flow
But you have to admit it's still pretty good.
@@10smike Yes yet he has the next 20 years to improve
Oren used to play the northwest circuit in the late nineties or 2000s he was 35 plus.. always in semis or final in men’s open! Watched him play in Washington state open many times it took somebody with weapons to beat him (big serve, big forehand) nobody out steadied from baseline.. Although a crafty local kid that had just graduated from USC ( nick rainy) beat him in the Tacoma open 62 63 and he literally drop shot and lob him to death! Got him moving up and back instead of latterly across baseline his strength.. more than one way to skin a cat
Proof that modern racquets ruined tennis.
The slow motions are not necessary and rather annoying.
Understood. I'll put them at the end of the video for people who might be interested. Thanks for the comment.
