    I am a Psychologist with a PhD. With work experience for more than 20 years in a private clinic and as a professor in practically all public and private universities in my country. I have had to face criticism from both academia and non-academics for the same reasons that Damon cites and clarifies in this video, especially the fact that for years, NLP titles have been sold as lottery chances, without rationally evaluating whether the student is really qualified to help from NLP. I admire and thank Damon for this video. I will share it and as always, Damon greetings and thank you for your great contribution to the development of NLP. Dr. Joseph Cruz. Ph.D.

You are probably one of the very few people on the planet who teaches and develops *the NLP* :) Thank you for everything you do.

    I started learning NLP 22 years ago. Later I spent a great amount of time learning hynpotherapy, solution focused coaching, mental coaching/training, systemic coaching. And in every field it is beneficial to use the skills and perspective I gained from learning NLP. A good friend of mine started learning NLP maybe 15 years ago, later he turned to hypnosystemic coaching and therapy. We both agree, that we wouldn't be where we are now without NLP. It makes learning and working with people so much easier. Even now, while I am studying mediation, I find links and build connections between NLP and mediation. I like to play with questions like: how could NLP improve systemic constellation work? how could NLP and hypnosis benefit from a more systemic or family therapeutic point of view? how to use sleight of mouth in mediation? etc. And I think it is useful to have several inner guides who are experts in their own fields - one of them should be NLPer. :-)

    I saw an interview with Hugh Jackman, he said he was shy and was having trouble getting in front of the camera, so he asked Tony Robbins for help, and he showed him how to create a new persona he called "Frank" who is full of confidence and is a great actor, so everytime he has to perform he puts on this Frank persona.

    I've learned and applied so many things from Richard Bandler over the last 30 years. My life is significantly better and I will be eternally grateful to Richard for his influence. In addition to ideas, there is a lot to learn from how someone lives their life and agree that we can learn from anyone or anything (our learning is internal). One of the significant lessons I've learned from my perception of Richard's life is the nominalization of "genius." While I'm not familiar with a good verb version of "genius," it can be useful to think of "genius" as a process. And like any process, people can learn, practice and stop practicing genius. The legendary music producer Brian Eno coined the ter"m "scenius" to describe the collective version of genius. It might be that NLP was the result of people "genius-ing" together in an scenius-friendly environment. When the collaborative environment (scenius) changed, the genuising changed too.

    Great video. An issue that i have seen with the NLP community is that its so Tactic and Technique driven that there is no room or association to what context the pattern or technique would be useful. Didfferent Models were created for different reasons, and it is important to know the context in which those patterns and techniques were created and for what purpose and context. For example this pattern is used when blank. This pattern comes from blank and was used to blank. Can I get an Amen?!?!?!?!

    • @DamonCart
      @DamonCart  5 місяців тому +2

      @@Rum774 his idea of going ultra meta to everything isn't actually meta. His models don't got to a higher logical level. They actually go to a lower logical level. For example, let's say happiness as a category on a logical level. He would add something like Excited-Happiness and say that it's meta to happiness. Actually it's not. Excited-Happiness is a subcategory of happiness rather than meta to happiness. This might sound like "just semantics" but it's not. Logical levels is how you make sense of the world around you. It's how you make logical connections from one category to another. In other words, it's what ties together the meaning you make of yourself and your reality. It's really important to get this right. He doesn't get that part right and it makes his models less effective. Steve Andreas, my mentor, used to debate him on this topic. I've tried both Michael's Meta States Model and Steve's Self-Concept Model. Meta States might make you feel a buzz for a bit but it wears of fast. The Self-Concept Model will transform you and consequently transform your life. There's no comparison.

  • @goatjulian
    @goatjulian 6 місяців тому

    Hey Damon I just had a really big concern about Nlp. I’m new to this but I feel like NLP isn’t working out for me. I have tried it out a couple times but I have a hard time actually getting somewhere with submodalities and increasing or decreasing the strength of a certain feeling or experience. It just feels like it doesn’t work. For example: like making an event brighter or increasing and decreasing the size of it or placing it anywhere doesn’t seem to have an effect. It just seems BS to me and I don’t know if it’s because I might be resisting it or I’m doing it wrong. Im 16 and I’m trying to resolve some inner conflicts and be unshakably confident. Im expressing these concerns from trying out the transforming limiting beliefs video with the concept of feeling “Q” and trying to make that feeling bigger so I can have it all the time. Did you also have a tough time at first? Any advice??

    • @goatjulian
      @goatjulian 6 місяців тому

      I can point to the events and I have a location for them, and I can see color submodalities only sometimes but most of the time it’s vague and just feels like I’m making stuff up and it doesn’t feel any different. Do I keep trying different techniques and keep experimenting with different submodalities?

    • @DamonCart
      @DamonCart  6 місяців тому +1

      You just need some guidance.
      It's awesome that you're working on this at 16. Stick with it and you'll live a completely different life (far better) than not doing this.
      It sounds like you're trying to go at confidence directly. That doesn't work. Without competence, there is no true confidence. Without competence, what appears to be confidence, is arrogance. There is a deeper inner wisdom within you that knows this and is probably keeping you from inflating your ego. Some people use NLP to do this and they succeed at doing it and it only makes them narcissistic. They become miserable and entitled and they don't accomplish much.
      Watch the videos I've done on conflict integration. I wouldn't use submodalities to resolve a conflict. Get Steve Andreas' book Transforming Your Self if you want to transform qualities. Do every exercise in it. Ask me for help if you don't understand something.
      The confidence will come, but first you need to work with what you have and organize your internal representations to serve who you want to become. It's okay to not be confident about something. That's just your inner wisdom letting you know that you need competence in that area first. One thing you are competent at is learning. You've been doing it your whole life, from the time you were born. You learned a language without even trying. You learned to walk without ever setting a goal to do it. When you lack confidence about something, put your attention on the fact that you can learn how to do it. Be confident about your ability to learn.

    • @goatjulian
      @goatjulian 6 місяців тому

      @@DamonCart okay. Conflict integration, Steve Andreas book, and competence first. Thanks, and I’ll make every effort to keep NLP in my life as you said it’s an amazing thing to always have and practice.

      @@fasteddylove-muffin6415 yes, I've seen it. I can't corroborate lies and manipulations by Santa Cruz PD. I don't know the story in that much detail. It definitely didn't look good for Bandler when he seemed to have no motivation to notify the police that his secretary had been murdered. That doesn't mean that he murdered her, but it's bad regardless.

    Saying NLP earned "quite a reputation" is artfully vague. Not necessarily a positive reputation.

      In my original script for this video I wrote that NLP earned both a negative and positive reputation. While it's true, it's bad writing when you say one thing and then immediately cancel it by saying the opposite. It usually causes people to tune out.

      @@angeloreyes707 NLP is not derived from spiritual texts. I've studied Zen Buddhism and non-duality and there is overlap with NLP because they all deal with consciousness and awareness, but they're all very different. NLP is based on modeling.

      Is there a NLP Dobson model? An NLP Dobson technique? I never said that the three people modeled in which NLP is primarily based on were the only people studied. How long do you want this video to be? Do I have to mention every aspect and every person involved to satisfy everyone? Geez.
