Also best bait i found for snapping turtle is chicken liver, put it on hook wrap with pantyhose so small fish, cray fish and other turtles dont eat it. I catch somewhere around 200 turtles a year. I never caught them on live bait, always dead fish or chicken liver.
Yall can use some small hooks. Here in pa our rules require a mustad 10/0 turtle hook, and i have them litterslly straighten those hooks sometimes and get off.
Snapping turtles eat chopped up fish all the time that’s how I catch my snapping turtles they will eat anything that has meat like steak 🥩 chickens meat, birds craw fish , chicken liver includeds chopped up fish they small the blood
I’ve caught snappers off of everything from fake bait to empty hooks, I’ve never actually tried to catch them since they’re kind of a nuisance to unhook but I always catch one on accident everytime I fish wether it’s on top or bottom fishing lmao
A friend of mine has pet ducks in his pond. Something has been picking them off in the water, taking half their heads off. I'm betting a big snapper. I gotta get that SOB outta there, I'll try any techniques at this point.
Another thing alot of people in the south like me...try small birds like sparrows hook them good in the back or through center. They will sit at the bottom and look up a the bird floating until they can't take it anymore! All you need now is a video of the catch and do a clean and cook. Good eating there common and alligator snapping and soft shell turtles!

chicken gizzards work well, too tuff to get off the hook easily.

I just caught 2 snapping turtles on dead green sunfish so they prefer whatever they get
Will this work on a small turtle maybe 5 inches shell length I need to get him out of my goldfish pond
Absolutely... just uses a smaller hook.
The easy way to get a tiny turtle out of your gold fish pond is to use a tiny piece of chicken but not to tiny
I usually use power cord it’s easyer to tie nots but u need wide eyed hooks tho

So, from what I've seen in the first 20s, you've never actually caught a turtle
Keep watching the other videos bucko

Once when I was trout fishing a giant snapping turtle bit one of the fish on my chain. This is how I am planning my revenge.
Exactly why I found this video lol. Snapping Turtles are always messing up a good time

I tried to throw my bottle out in our pond today and I wasn't paying attention and the hook went right through my pants and cut my leg 😅
My sister got a snapping turtle with an empty hook ..
All she did was bobbing the hook up and down off the deck
This works every time
Are you trying to catfish me?
Thanks so much, very helpful. Got to get rid of these turtles; no fish left!
If you would use palamar knot you wont have no twist
I love the good old fashioned twist knot!
Rotten meat...works every time
Hookin baitfish like that actually can kill them quick ... you could possibly puncture their air bladders
