  • Join us this week as we RV camp at Double Lake Recreation Area in the Sam Houston National Forest of East Texas. Double Lake is a National Forest Service Park located just outside the town of Coldspring, Texas. The park offers RV and tent camping, group camping, hiking, kayaking, swimming, fishing and biking.
Double Lake Recreation Area was built by the men of the Civilian Conservation Corps and opened in 1937. Our pull-thru campsite here was HUGE and the shade was tremendous! We were very comfortable camping here in the Texas Summer.

I just discovered your channel today and I'm already addicted! I'm recuperating from knee surgery and laid up so I'm so excited to find your videos! I'm in the process of building my very own little teardrop camper so hopefully by this winter I'll be recuperated and ready for some camping adventures. So if y'all see a little pink and white homemade teardrop at a Texas state park somewhere, say howdy!

We were these on August 14, 2020. We were actually able to capture pictures of deer while walking on the back side of the lake(group camp side). My family has been visiting Double Lakes for over 45 years. We have camped and made day trips to this National Forest.

Looks like a wonderful park. We are from Seattle originally and this looks very much like the type of parks we spent so many years camping in when our kids were little. Gee that place looks big for a small lake. Back in the 70'''s went on a church retreat up some where in east Texas and they had a small lake with a cross in the middle and was so awesome in the moon light. At the time it was a fun experience. The one thing about east Texas is all the trees opposed to barren parts of west Texas. Enjoyed watching. Love y'all
