I'm shaking and crying Aurelio Voltaire, Steam Powered Giarffe, *_AND_* The Cog is Dead in the same video doing one of my favorite songs? This must be heaven
Saaaame, Voltaire has been a part of my life sense I was little. I heard brains on billy and Mandy looked him up and my musical preference was forever changed
This video made me realise that I know only something like 4-5 steampunk bands, and that there are so many more that seem just as promising. I'll be definitely checking out the missing ones! ❤️
I like how this shows that steampunk isn't a ganra, but a theme. You can have steampunk music made pretty much every possible way, from classic through jazz, rock and metal to pop and rap.
I’ve listened to 0:57 about 30 times and I’m still not convinced you didn’t just ask Aurelio Voltaire himself to whip up a recording for you to lip sync to. Bravo, John!
As someone new to the genra whose only heard of you guys and SPG thank you! Probably my second favorite of your guys sounds besides Death of the Cog :)
I loved this video for not only the artists/groups I had already known and love like Voltaire, This Way To The Egress, Vagabond Opera and Steam Powered Giraffe but also the other 20 that I've missed so far.
I'm surprised how many of these I recognized! Almost as surprised by how many of them I DIDN'T recognize! I don't go to live shows often, but I've actually seen four of these bands live, which is funny since I almost never get to go to steampunk events these days. This was absolutely brilliant, and you've pointed me in the direction of some truly talented artists! Thanks for making such wonderful music, and thanks for being such a great content creator in general!
This, sir, is delightful. You even captured the distinct chap hop styles and the harmonies, where applicable. And the weird noise David Bennett sticks in so many songs. Fun fact, y'all... that noise in their songs came from David himself, so I understand. Being silly or something I guess. I always thought it was some animal until then, and sure enough, it was a Giraffe.
I started getting into Steampunk music a few weeks ago, and this video was not only entertaining but informational as well. I've been exploring the different bands portrayed in this song, and so far, The Cog is Dead, Frenchy and the Punk, Vernian Process, Steam Powered Giraffe, and Abney Park are definitely among the favorites. The others are good too of course. :) So Thank you for this video.
You have studied so crefully the styles of the other bands and you pretty much achieve almost all of them my favorites where Aurelio, Professor Elemental, Abney Park and Vernian Process you where amazing!!!!
So I honestly got excited when Steam Powered Giraffe came around on this list because they're like the top tier of favorite bands followed by your wonderfully amazing band so keep up the amazing work :)
I was gonna say “You did the giraffe roar!” But about a dozen people beat me to it. 😅 That was amazing, and I’ve learned about so many artists I’ve never heard of, so thanks for that!
Of all the bands out there I find The Cog Is Dead to be one of the most versatile, entertaining, and creative. Considering the variety available that says quite a bit. I'm really looking forward to their new album release.
This was just wow, gotta check a lot of these artists out! AND YES THE MAN VOLTAIREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELL YEA!!!!!!!!
This was amazing. I've heard of about 75% of these bands and these styles were nailed. Please make more of these with different songs I would really enjoy it
I'm glad Sir Reginald Pikedevant Esquire got an acknowledgement in this song. He really is one of the best of the chap-hoppers and it's a shame he's been out of the game for so long.
Came here just for SPG and I loved it! But also I never realised how many good sounding steampunk bands there are, your performance was great and I'll sure check out some of them! (creaming internally over the fact you actually finished it with the SPG groan, it was so perfect!!)
I’m a big fan of Abney Park and Aurelio Voltaire, and it was a blast to see you do one of your most iconic songs in their style. Hats off to you John and everyone in The Cog is Dead for shouting out and sharing the love in the steam punk community
This was great. The Giraffe, Abney, Professor, impressions were damn spot on. Most of the rest i was too unfamiliar with to place, but it is useful to look over for ones i haven't heard of.
I went into this song curious about all the references to the other artists and was surprised to see the part that imitated The Peculiar Pretzelmen. For years I've been in love with them and I was very delighted to see their appearance in this. The imitation of the lead singer was very accurate and reminded me of some of the better albums like Innumerable Seeds of Calamity and Uncanny eyes.
You are a immensely talented musician, singer, and voice actor all wrapped up into a brass-riveted metal package. And your band is always a delight to listen to. I'm very happy to have discovered your music, and I'm happy to be yet another cog in your machine! ⚙❤
Every so often I stumble upon something of yours that just continues to impress me how musically talented and diverse you are! Always one of my favorites!
Top notch work folks, this mashup bleeds of quality. Usually I hate how all the different styles grade together but our star here managed to keep it just consistent enough with things like his normal voice. Also pretty amazing you've got such a tight grasp on all those instruments. I think the original song was fair but I actually like this version better. I hope to see this kind of variety improve your style long term as well.
I’ve probably watched this seven times now, I just love it so much! You can really hear all the different styles, and honestly they’re all so unique and amazing. Wonderful job!
That, John, was absolutely amazing! though I dont know of all of the artists you you did impressions of, you absolutely nailed those that I do. well done and thank you from Down Under! 🙂 I dont know if you'd ever consider coming to Australia to perform, but if you do I'll definitely want to be there.
I only knew steam powered giraffe for a while and then just recently your videos started popping in the infamous yt algorithm and now I get to know 25 new steampunk artists?! This video just literally blew my mind xd Please please please make another one like this, I want to know even more artists :3
omg dude, I thought I commented on this before, but I guess I just watched it and was too busy laughing to say anything. You absolutely nailed all of these bands, I especially love the French accent under the English words for Spiky! Hilarious stuff, and of course you got our sound perfectly too.
Of the three bands (besides you) that I actually knew off this list, I have to say your Robert Brown, Spine, and Elemental impressions were on point! Well done!
I'm shaking and crying Aurelio Voltaire, Steam Powered Giarffe, *_AND_* The Cog is Dead in the same video doing one of my favorite songs? This must be heaven
Don't forget Abney Park too
Saaaame, Voltaire has been a part of my life sense I was little. I heard brains on billy and Mandy looked him up and my musical preference was forever changed
These impressions are impressive!
abney park, steam powered giraffe, cog is dead, ghostfire, professor elemental, frenchy and the punk,
You've just described my Pandora Playlist
I let out a little involuntary laugh at the groan at the end of the SPG part....rolf
This video made me realise that I know only something like 4-5 steampunk bands, and that there are so many more that seem just as promising. I'll be definitely checking out the missing ones! ❤️
Sharky857 That was my first thought too!!! And there’s even more he couldn’t fit in? I’ve got me some research to do!
i knew about half of them, but i'm pissed i didnt know automaton of all bands
steampunk and metal are two of my favorite things
There's hundreds! ♡ Dirigible's Daily Ditties on facebook posts a lot of steampunk music
Same here

The ending of Steam Powered Giraffe is way too accurate!
I like how this shows that steampunk isn't a ganra, but a theme. You can have steampunk music made pretty much every possible way, from classic through jazz, rock and metal to pop and rap.
Brilliantly done!!
Good grief, that was amazing.
Oh hey, it's abney
Thanks so much! Really glad you like it! You are one of our earliest steampunk influences, so it means a lot! :)
Both of my favorite steampunk bands in one comment on an awesome video. WOOOO!

Why do shout-outs when you can do sing-outs?
Damn
BWAHAHAAH this is amazing!! I'm honored to be included, and blown away at how accurate the male vocalists' sounds are.
Thanks so much! Haha, I wish I could have sounded closer to you vocally. I also wish I'd had a cello as a prop, lol! Really glad you like it!
I about fell over giggling when you did the giraffe roar. That whole thing was so much fun.
kindii b That was the absolute icing on the cake! I was screaming at my phone in glee!
WAIT I JUST REALIZED. THAT IS PERFECT
Abney Park was so on point I was wondering if you got the vocalist in on this haha
And tbh the rest was very, VERY much on point as well :D
Voltaire, Abney Park , and This Way to the Egress covers that’s so awesome lol
I’ve listened to 0:57 about 30 times and I’m still not convinced you didn’t just ask Aurelio Voltaire himself to whip up a recording for you to lip sync to. Bravo, John!
Hahaha sí se nota que no es él, pero sí le quedó increíble
You even did the giraffe roar. This was amazing!
Holy shit! Something related to both the cog is dead and Voltaire at once, My life is completed now
Vernian Process, Voltaire, Abney Park, the clockwork dolls and steam powered giraffe done by The Cog is Dead! This is epic! All my favorites in one!
This video gets me every time!
Don't mind me, just making a list of bands I need to check out.
I SAW VOLTAIRE AND CLICKED IMMEDIATELY
Imagine the bands he impersonated in the song all got to gather to sing this song
You’d need a big room!
@@hummingbirdspark3998 could do a live concert of it 👀

I entered this video because it appeard in my recommendations, and now I'm leaving with 25 singers/bands to check out
Same here two years later
I ended up looking up all the bands I hadn't heard of before listening to this video and now I plan on binging them all

It's a shame you didn't have any fun making this.
Haha!
Well he did at the begining.
I Like How Half Of These JustSound Like Him Singing Normally.
I didn't expect to recognize a single one of these artists, much less *three* (not including The Cog is Dead)
That brought a smile to my face. The only thing missing would be to see it done as Dr. Steel, but you can't have everything! I loved it! Thanks!
this video has taught me that there are three types of steampunk bands. the happy sounding ones, the sad sounding ones, and the angry sounding ones.
It's great to see some props going to Vagabond Opera. They're the band that really got me into Steampunk and Dark Cabaret.
Wow! Brilliant! Thanks, John!
I found out many other bands, but Cog is Dead is the favourite one!
I'm glad Sir Reginald Pikedevant Esquire got an acknowledgement in this song. He really is one of the best of the chap-hoppers and it's a shame he's been out of the game for so long.
i need a full version of the abney park.... if not then voltaire
Congratulations! A link to this video has been shared to the Facebook Group called "Narfcat's Earworm of the Day"!

uhhh where's Dr. Steel?? He may not be around anymore but was a pioneer of steampunk music and deserves the recognition
He's more atompunk or dieselpunk tbh;;

This is amazing! So spot on! John is so versatile!
I need to see all of you in one big show
I’m most proud that there’s only like 5 bands/artists out of those 25 that I knew 🙂
I heard that ghost fire isn't together any more. But some of the band members are in another band called Violent Sky.
I'm amazed at how many of these bands I know and love! the ones I haven't heard, I'll definitely check out! Amazing work as always!

Can someone tell me one song from each artist that is steam punk themed? I tried finding some for most of them but i couldn’t find any for others
