    First thing I thought of when I saw the Spartan with the Elite skull on his shoulder is that it would be awkward if they ever had to work with a group of allied Elites.
    ... then again, given the Elites warrior culture they might be cool with it, I don't know.

    • @PackHunter117
      @PackHunter117 2 роки тому +9

      The Swords dislike the Covenant and Banished. So they probably don’t mind as much. The UNSC hates the Insurrectionists. A Spartan or ODST with an Insurrectionist kill count displayed on their armor probably would be ok with them too

    Been following Halo canon since 2010 love your work. My question for you is what is the state of the Covenant as of Halo infinite? It seems the main enemies since Halo 5 are now the Banished (briefly the created) but there have to be rogue factions of the Covenant like Jul’madoma that refuse to abandon the great journey for one reason or another and even scattered fleets would still be a problem for both UNSC and Elites

      People just like to complain. That said, I haven't bought the game yet, but that's only because it's a habit of mine to not buy a game if it is released in instalments or with DLC. This way, I can get my money's worth and not buy a potentially incomplete game. But I am willing to give Halo Infinite a chance since I haven't played it yet.

      @terancetan5503 2 роки тому +2

      See what I mean about people liking to complain? Not saying that there aren't bad things about Infinite, but people have a tendency to focus on the bad stuff.
      I must ask them, however, why aren't they focusing on the good stuff? And if the answer given is the usual "oh, I can't look past the bad stuff", need I remind you people that Halo Reach, 4 and 5 weren't universally well received when they initially came out. AND, before you go saying that Bungie did it better, take a look at the initial problems with Destiny 1 and 2.
      Nothing is perfect. Deal with it, and complain if you want, but if your complaints last over 6 months, then there is no reason why I should be talking to any of you people.

    Very interesting how this Canon Fodder makes note of "Fledgeling Created Cells" a few Canon Fodder's ago mentioned "Lingering Created Cells"
    'Lingering' is a term implying that the Created were in a state of decline, but this much more recent Canno Fodder referring to "Fledgeling" Created Cells, implying that the Created have now regained stability and are potentially re-emergeing? Maybe they have found ways to reactivate the other Guardians, and/or, a new leader has risen to organize them...
    My personal Theory is that its Abaddon, the only known Precursor AI. The fact that he looks so much like a Guardian Custode feels like its implying something...

      It’s always kinda been implied that when not on mission Spartans just prep for the next one so things you would see could be weapons and gear maintenance, exercises both physical and mental, practicing hygiene (showers), team building games or activities, resting (sleep) and after that individuals might do their own things that they enjoy (Like Jorge with his card games) think of a military barracks with no partying (Spartans don’t drink or partake in other “unsavoury” activities since those desires were bred out of them)

Back in the 90s (cue ‘ok boomer’) the game was the game. You played it and fell in love with it and played it again, because it was all you got. No patches. No DLC. I think gaming culture has been permanently infected by overwhelmingly unappealing entitlement. Then again, I might be completely out of touch, and the world has simply moved on from how it once was. • @leftwardglobe1643
      @leftwardglobe1643 2 роки тому

      Like fixing all of the glaring issues with the Spartan II program that have existed since inception? Don't get me wrong, I love the novels, but one thing you can't say about them is that they make a lick of sense, and if we're going to compare stupid decisions, you better buckle up.
      I'm not going to delve into how objectively wrong the notion that children are somehow better choices for augmentation is because even Silver makes that mistake. Though they do have better justification for it. To cover it briefly (the subject broadly, not Silver's justification): younger (than 55, not younger than 18) patients are less likely to reject replacement organs or other forms of implants, and typically these organs are stronger and last longer in younger patients, yes. But kids are also more likely to die on the operating table. So what's the point of getting a small boost in performance if you have fewer candidates left by the end of it? Also even in universe this holds true. A lot of Orion's augmentations were used as part of the suites provided to Spartan IIs and IIIs and killed patients. Whereas the same or similar augmentations in adults, even with less experience in their application, did not.
      Instead, my main focus is going to be on psychology. Do you have any idea how incredibly stupid it is to drag children from their homes at the age of 6, beat them, poke them with cattle prods, and put them through special forces training, then kill half of them, and send them BACK TO THEIR HOMES to kill insurrectionists, some of which they might even recognize? This plan was so poorly conceived a monkey could have done better.
      Even ignoring the fact that these kids are probably so traumatized from the abuse they received during training (which again, was carried out during some of the most crucial points of a child's psychological development) that half of them will be so terrified and confused as to be virtually useless in the field, the remainder won't turn out to be loyal Spartan IIs who follow orders without question. They will hate you with every fiber of their being. Assuming they don't try and turn on you during or immediately after training, they will certainly do so when deployed in a familiar place with familiar faces that you are asking them to shoot.
      This also throws out any points about brainwashing. Halsey tries to make that excuse in Halo 4, but the problem is that they really didn't do any of that. There's no memory wiping, no proper philosophical indoctrination (not that they could get it to stick while actively abusing them in the first place), not even hypnotism for all the good it would do. They just hit them a lot and taught them a lot of incredibly inaccurate history lessons that we're somehow supposed to believe are responsible for taking their minds off wanting to murderize each and every person putting them through this. That is the worst crime against realism Halo has committed, and it has the likes of the plasma rifle and energy sword to contend with.
      This program was designed to fail, and the worst part is a lot of the solutions that Silver goes with to fix these blatantly obvious flaws were considered, but passed up in core canon because it would impair the Spartans' sense of "individuality." And sure that's what they were chosen for. But A: Why? Please, give me a logical reason, because after years of studying this universe I haven't found one yet. B: that is hardly more important than protecting against the possibility of this brand new supersoldier with its fancy guns and armor that, by the way, costs more than some star ships, (I'd hate to be the logistics officer that had to put his name on that requisition form) going ape shit on you.
      Someone (in fact several someones), somewhere decided to attach their name to the document proposing this batshit insane plan that was barely necessary at the time, and someone else, after reading the document and seeing how mind numbingly stupid it was... approved it... That is what I would call a stupid decision.
      If you want a video summary of what 90% of Spartan II candidates should have done, watch Halo Legends Homecoming. As much as I dislike that series and that episode, it does a good job of illustrating the point. Well, except the ending. Who the fuck would willingly go back to that rather than sign up with an Insurrectionist group for revenge? At the very least she should have tried.
      Now what Silver's timeline does is it takes the Spartan II program, maintaining the themes surrounding it and the core elements of it, and makes some changes that make it not a ticking timebomb.
      Silver Spartans are given memory wipes, which, theoretically, are much easier to do on underdeveloped brains such as those found in children. There's just less information to clear out, so the risk of brain damage is minimized. Which is a valid reason for choosing them unlike any of the reasons given in core canon.
      Silver Spartans are given pellets to keep their hormones in check and suppress strong emotions like rage and sorrow. Both of which are incredibly dangerous in a core canon spartan. Even if they decided not to do memory wipes, this should have been somewhere near the top of their list of priorities.
      Silver Spartans (at least in John's case) are pulled from random backwaters where the case can go cold on its own or, in the event of an extreme security breach, the colony can be erased as part of a coverup. All of this can be done without the use of flash clones. Which themselves are an extreme risk as if they have any intelligence (and we see that some do) they can compromise the whole operation.
      I can go on.
      Even in the show itself, I can't really point to any stupid decisions any of the characters have made either. Maybe Kwan wanting to go back to madrigal is a bit foolish of her, but I can see why she's doing so. The girl has conviction.

      “You have read my psychological evaluations?” Déjà asked Dr. Halsey.
      “Yes. They were quite thorough,” she said. “Thank you.”
      “And?”
      “I’m forgoing your recommendations, Déjà. I’m going to tell them the truth.”
      Mendez gave a nearly inaudible grunt of approval-one of the most verbose acknowledgments Dr.
      Halsey had heard from him. As a hand-to-hand combat and physical-training DI, Mendez was the best in
      the Navy. As a conversationalist, however, he left a great deal to be desired.
      “The truth has risks,” Déjà cautioned.
      “So do lies,” Dr. Halsey replied. “Any story fabricated to motivate the children-claiming their parents
      were taken and killed by pirates, or by a plague that devastated their planet-if they learned the truth
      later, they would turn against us.”
      “It is a legitimate concern,” conceded Déjà, and then she consulted her tablet. “May I suggest selective
      neural paralysis? It produces a targeted amnesia-”
      “A memory loss that may leak into other parts of the brain. No,” Dr. Halsey said, “this will be dangerous
      enough for them even with intact minds.”
      and what happened when mc in te silver timeline found out he turned and went rouge this more than vindicates Halsey in her decision

      @@spartanx9293 No it doesn't vindicate her at all, and I'll get to that in the next paragraph. Plus her concerns surrounding the dangers of doing such a procedure are mostly based in the fact that they would be left with soldiers that, while able to fight and follow orders, would have none of the character traits she chose them for. Not because she thought it might kill some of them. She's more than willing to accept that kind of risk and even seems to go out of her way to make it happen based on the fact that she approved augmentation for them at the age of 14 (if memory serves, I just woke up) and didn't give them proper anesthesia, leaving them unconscious but very aware of the pain. Something that you have to try very hard to do and was a simple mistake which threw many into shock and cardiac arrest. You don't have to believe me on that, look over Halsey's journal. I believe the entry cited on the fandom wiki is March 9th, 2525.
      Not only is she proven wrong about this by the fact that the Spartans in Silver are intact mentally, thus disproving the notion that such a procedure cannot be done safely in Halo as she asserts, the possibility of this procedure ever being reversed is so incredibly small that it's not worth mentioning. Not to mention that even in the event that the memory loss is reversed, other contingencies can be put in place to keep the Spartan under control (see the Cortana Project, which is an excellent idea in both universes for completely different reasons), and the Spartan, so long as their pellet is still installed, will not immediately fly into a rage like core canon Spartans realistically should.
      Not to mention that the ONLY reason this became reality is because of a Forerunner artifact. Something that Silver Halsey didn't know existed, and something that Core Canon Halsey didn't know had the capability to do this.
      Can we also mention really quick that her telling them the truth about all of this makes them more likely to be non-compliant, not less? "By the way, we stole you from your homes and you'll never see your parents or friends again. Now you get to become a tool of oppression for an authoritarian regime that you, being from worlds with strong Insurrectionist ties, have grown up to hate already. Now please follow the kind officer wo gave you a black eye this morning. if you don't, he'll hit you with his cattle prod. Have a nice daaaaaayyyy."
      Halsey in core canon is both a monster and an idiot. She devised this plan from the ground up. A plan that was from its inception designed to fail, and her only motivation seems to be to sate her own ego and her curiosity. She doesn't just want to create super soldiers, she wants to play God and shape humanity's "destiny as a species." At least in Silver she has a better plan as to how to achieve that.
      Again, the fact that any aspect of the Spartan II program works in Core Canon is a crime against realism, and everyone who designed it is either braindead and should be shot for criminal negligence, or cruel to the point that they did this knowing how unnecessary and stupid it was, in which case they should be shot for warcrimes. Wither way, a lot of ONI agents get their heads blown off. I think we can all agree that that would make the world a much better place.
