- Check out the new LEGO Ghostbusters ECTO-1 model! This is a gigantic set and is by far one of the best representations of the ECTO-1 I have ever seen. It is built using 2352, has lots of great moving details, and some amazing features. Check out this review of the brand new version of the LEGO ECTO-1 10274 that was released in November of 2020.

I think the clean look without the rust looks cleaner and sleeker. More reminiscent of the older films.

@@joevictor53 I just got mine the other day and while I was building it, I didn't put the stickers on, and I made sure to keep the ladder on the right side, but would require a bit of modification.
@@joevictor53 That and also the suicide door and hinges need to be changed to reflect the original Ecto-1 more.
FYI the design of the cover of the instruction manual is inspired by Haynes car manuals, a well known basic car manual producer here in the UK/Europe.
That is a shame that they didn't include a placard and minifigs like how the Batmobile and Batwing had.

Built this as soon as it was released. Had the common issue of scratched up windows, but Lego sent me another COMPLETE set of windows, free of charge ( I MAY have gotten a 3rd set from them also, to use many years down the road if need be), and just last week I got my LED light and sound kit for it (from Kyglaring) and cannot begin to explain how much more awesome this set is now! 👍🏻😎👍🏻
I definitely agree, this model looks a lot better without the rust stickers. I might order the pieces that the rust go onto so i can swap out the look depending on if i like ghostbusters afterlife. Also it shouldve came with either minifigures from the new movie or marshmallow covered variants of the main 4 from the first movie
Almost glad the rust is stickers, making it optional. If the designers super rust detail in the model they could have done it with bricks
It would be so cool if these kind of sets came with big figures like the old technic figures. I still miss those figures, they were awesome, with a lot of articulation points, it's a shame that they never considered those figures to make characters of movie franchises, like Star Wars or something like that.
In my opinion this is one of the best lego sets by far

you could try ordering extra parts which are supposed to have the rust stickers that way you can swap out the parts to make it look clean or rusty. Great review ! Keep up the awesome work!

the trash can elements are actually grey barrel pieces. the trash can pieces have handles on the side

I’ve been thinking about getting this for awhile. Didn’t realize how big it was until seeing it on display at the LEGO store. Immediately pulled the trigger. Love the detail.

Those printed pieces are pretty nice. Great they are starting to slowly get rid of stickers. Also bricksie what are your thoughts on the new lego paper bags that will be starting in 2021.
I originally put the stickers on but took them off and put the ladder on the other side to replicate the first movie Ecto.
I did some calculations with the actual car dimensions vs the dimensions of this Lego Ecto-1. I believe this Ecto-1 one is around 1/12 or 1/13 scale. Its definitely closer to being 1/13 I believe. Figures that are around 5" to 6" would look just right with it. So the Mattel or Hasbro's Plasma Ghostbusters figures would go nicely with it.
I think the best part to the car is probably when the wheels move, the top parts move! now that is well made!

I put the rust stickers on yes possibly not the popular choice however I think it suits the build and the overall feel of what they were trying to achieve

I actually moved the ladder to the other side because I wanted it to more represent the 1984 appearance; this wasn't as easy as I thought as I did have to move a few pieces around, but I like the way it looks that way better. I also replaced the technic gear tracks on the hood with flat tiles (I assume the gear tracks are meant to represent dents).
All in all, a quite impressive set, I think they outdid the 1989 Batmobile tbh. I agree though it was begging for minifigs and a specification plaque. Other than that though quite happy with this set.
I thought the "gear tiles" were supposed to be body damage too... I carefully rewatched clips from the first movie, and to my surprise, the original has two vents/louvers on the hood in those exact spots. They kind of look like grates that would normally be used on the floors and/or wall ducts of a house's HVAC system. They actually did a GREAT job of representing those! I totally never noticed them on the real car until researching (and I was an 80's kid who watched the movies hundreds of times! lol).

I only put the rust on because it’s original to the box, but when I make a drift one it’s gonna have no rust cuz it’s cleaner😂

I agree on the rust stickers. I will be leaving them off too. Would be nice to move the ladder to the original side of the car to model it after the original

Every body is all concerned that a placard was not included, but this was not a UCS set. If I'm not mistaken its considered a Creator Expert set, in which case NONE on those sets have either a placard or mini figures. Also on the mini figures there may be restriction coming from the movie production people on the concern that figures may lead to spoilers seeing as we've had only a trailer and the movie also being pushed back to 2021. Maybe cut Lego a little slack on that one since there's a lot involved when it comes to these big licensed sets.

I think the reason why they didn’t add the mini figures is because the movie is not out yet they didn’t want to spoil the new ghostbusters team.
I wish they design it so you could put the Minifigures as well as the proton packs
I think this model looks epic, and I'm not even a big Ghostbusters fan. I've only seen the original movie.

Hi Bricksie, while watching this video, I noticed the clock 2x2 piece in the back of the model is different than the one I received. It's still a clock but mine is printed differently. Than at 10:24, the printed element on the dash above the one that looks like a VHS tape, I received a completely different piece. Just wanted to share.

Great review, I still don't know why lego aren't printing everything these days instead of still using stickers. It was good to see the Lamborghini Sian print everything. So hopefully in the near future 🤞 we'll get just that

Great detailed review - you should do more of these type of videos to help us determine whether the set being shown should be on our buy list. A suggested improvement would be to show highlights of the build and some of the techniques used. Overall great video review
Nice set but I think I’m gonna pass on this one. I really like the smaller scale one with the mini figures.
I wish they did a beat up version in the same scale as the other two, with new minifigs with it from the new movie. ..a black pre-ghostbusters herse would be cool too (maybe pre-life is the next film?)!
My wife said she's getting this for my birthday for father's day she got me the batmobile and I have doms charger but I am eagerly waiting on this and I will not add the rust I will add important decals but no rust I like the clean look of ecto.

I’m in the not sure camp, mostly because of a space issue. 😑I have the smaller one and I love it. It’s a fabulous looking car, and if I had space and oodles of spare cash, I’d have one with rust and one without. 😁

I would like rusted version, but the rust stickers ate too cartoonish. It should be more like grayscale stickers to give the dulled look.
I'm getting this soon, just not sure if I should paste the rust stickers. Lego should've printed the rust onto the bricks instead of using stickers. Too many stickers makes it look cheap imo. Your video has made me decide to leave the stickers out as well. Looks better without it.

My guess why it did not come with Mini Figures, is because it would include spoilers for afterlife. If they showed the older ghostbusters alongside the kids, it would spoil a plot point in the movie and since this is coming out months before the actual movie...the studio might have mandated they not do that. I woulden't be shocked if they re released this down the road with figures!

Just built this set , I was confused why the made the car smooth and left studs at the rear of the car. So I put white 1x2 flat plates on to cover these. Rust stickers were poor quality

They might be doing a line of ghostbusters sets with the movie coming out, so the mini figures will probably be there.
I'm thinking about picking one of these up, despite the hefty price tag, for my Ghostbusters display. It's a good size, the details are awesome and...it has a gunner seat?! 😳...I love this car!
Side note: I will probably leave the rust decals off too, it just looks better without them. And besides, didn't Winston just clean the old girl up after getting her back to NYC? So yeah, the current clean look it is.
