Hello Garrick, ❤ I'm impressed every time you make a galaxy pour. 🎉 Sometimes you stack the beautiful colors in your cup and I think "I wouldn't have put this color there, it's special..." 🤔 but each time you show me that the color scheme is magnificent in the cup and on your piece. 😃 Thank you for the demonstration and for explanation. Verry interesting. You are a bright artiste. 💚💙💜🤎💗
Thank you for the gorgeous painting!! I’m not to much of a pastel person but this turned out spectacular. I was glued to my screen to the very end! Outstanding!
WOW!!! Finally someone who shows us how to mix mica pigments in more detail. I was so afraid the red was going to ruin this piece and shocked that it went pink. I'm very impressed and straight pours to me are so much better than blooms. 😃
Interesting how we all mix differently! I wet my pigments with a high gloss varnish to get a slurry consistency then add in my gloss gel to get a tube paint consistency ( no clumps whatsoever this way!) Then add my floetrol in ...a little at a time!
Thanks for watching friend! Yes it is very interesting. When I go high gloss first my pigments dull out but the vibrancy comes back later, however if you aren't getting any clumping it might be worth it forsure. I use the super heavy gel because I feel like you get more bang for your buck but it's just takes a little more to mix it.
Just in case you decide to venture in to the world of pigments... Liquitex also makes a product called Liquithick. I use that instead of the gloss gel for my neon pigment powders. Unlike mica powders, which need light to show off their magic powers, pigments rely on opacity to do their thing. I use Atelier Binder Medium (always on sale somewhere) to disperse ALL my powders. It doesn't have a strong smell - like you have to stick your nose to the bottle to smell it - and what smell it does have isn't chemical-like. It's the only product I've found (so far) that doesn't make the powders 'foamy' once dispersed. Like you, I do the clear gloss gels for the 'shimmers' (micas) but for the pigments (about 2t of powder dispersed in about 1t of binder medium then add enough US Floe to make an oz of liquid) I use a pea size amount of the Liquithick and end up with an oz of highly pigmented, heavy body paint. 🤗😁
This is FIRE!! Love this painting so much
Thanks so much! That Flamingle, Cresendo mix up is FIRE!
