I’ve been craving these type of beans for a while. I didn’t have powdered mustard so I added one tbsp Dijon mustard instead and I cut my bacon into little pieces and pre cooked them before adding it to the mixture. Thank you so much for this recipe. I LOVED IT!
That would be about exactly as I learned to prepare them although I’m in Northern California. My mom was from Georgia and father from Utah. Not sure whose recipe it was, but my dad did most of the cooking. Good stuff.
These look absolutely delicious. We don’t have American bean cans here, so are these beans still quite firm to the bite when they come out of the can or are they almost mushy?
Hello, Unc Scott! I watch each of your VDOs, and think your production quality has become quite OK. Adding a decent mic was the giant leap of Scottkind. Now, let me suggest food for thought. Carbon steel is great, but cast iron is king. Maybe. I feel so sad for cast ironers who think their $30 Lodge is the ultimate. Maybe it is, but I doubt it. How about your getting into polishing cast iron cookware? It ain't rocket surgery, but it is dirty. My #1 son got into grinding and polishing his cast iron which I thought was a fool's errand. Not so fast. When I visited him and cooked some raw beef on his "resurrections", I was speechless. The quality of sear and pure joy of such indulgence was stunning. Think about it.
Hey from Tampa St Pete! Man, that looks good. It only needs some good Yankee Corn Bread and a cold beer. Hey, are you going to make a gumbo one of these days? Love the vids Scott! Be well.
A classic! If you can't find pork and beans, or they are expensive for some reason, buy the cheapest baked beans on the shelf. Even Bush's "famous" baked beans have almost no flavor, so they work fine for this. I like mine dark and strong, so I add molasses in addition to the brown sugar -- or skip brown sugar and just use sugar and more molasses -- as well as a little cider vinegar for balance. You used a lot more prepared mustard than I do, though, which has vinegar in it. A splash of Worcestershire or other umami booster is never bad. Sometimes I'll throw in a green bell pepper or, even better, a couple of poblano chiles. Make it a little spicy and throw in some good hot dogs, and it's the best beans & weenies ever -- a whole meal!
Love this simple yet SOO delicious recipe! 😊 thanks!

These are the best baked beans I have ever had. I am so glad I found this recipe. I will never buy a can of baked beans again. THEY ARE AWESOME!!!
Holy cow! Very glad you liked them!

You ought to try Bush's beans. Many styles they are the best on the market.

I'd say they are somewhere in between. What country are you in? I wonder if you could make them with some other bean?
@@UncleScottsKitchen Switzerland. I am perfectly capable of cooking white beans- I come from North Macedonia- but this is a lazy quick recipe, so…
Hey! An "easy recipe" that's actually easy, thanks Uncle! 😄
Any easier and just buy some Bush's Best baked beans!

@@UncleScottsKitchen Nothing wrong with those! They're my brand of choice.
pretty much exactly how I was taught, except I use navy beans. I am craving them now after watching this lol!

Looks great, but why wouldn't you mix everything straight into the baking dish instead of bowl first and then transfer,
YOu certainly could, but I am a bit of a mess and it's easier for me to stir in a bowl first!
“I’m very High at the moment” I thought You were talking about something else for a second 😭
I like the idea of draining the beans. Never tried that. What, no molasses? I can't help but add molasses to my beans not matter how I cook them :-)
hi douglas(: if one was to add molasses (as one seems they should lol) how much with this recipe would be appropiate?
looks so yummy but that's too much sugar is kinda a turn off
Show off with that Staub.
