Finally. The 4K ColorVu is here! Fantastic cameras. I had to log in online to the camera to adjust exposure from 1/25 to 1/100 as movement at the front of my house was slightly fuzzy when pausing but still good detail, colour etc. Rear garden is near pitch black and still clear view. Amazing cameras.

Dave, I have this ds-7732nxi-i4/16p/s NVR and the 8MP ColorVu 9 cameras fitted. I have also upgraded the firmware. I connected this through HDMI 1 to a 4k Smart TV, I have also set the Menu output to 4k resolution. When streaming for 9Channels on screen all 9 cameras switch to substream which is too low resolution. The hdmi cable is 4k compatible too. I have also set the Main stream Video parameters to 4k but with same substream on 9 split screen. Can you please kindly advise and help in this regards
Which camera will be best paired with an APNR (AcuSense)? I will be using it in a pitch black setting, so I’m not sure the ColorVu-camera will have any benefit over the AcuSense? Also the APNR will put out IR-light, perhaps helping the AcuSense-camera to see even better in the dark? Will there be any drawbacks using a ColorVu-camera in this scenario (except higher price)?
if you wany true ANPR you should look at our dedicated ANPR model, using the IR light we can effectively bounce IR off the plate, excluding the characters and then doing the plate read , can you just use that camera??

I'd love to see a comparison of this outside but most importantly maybe have a van or something parked off at the very corner of the of the camera, really interested to see details just further away at night time as the area in the center of the view is obviously very good.
Have you had any reports of the white light not automatically changing with firmware 5.7.2 build 220713? I’ve also found to turn it on or off manually, it requires a restart. Also it would be great to talk about the wdr function on the g2 cameras (particularly the colorvu). I believe that anything 40 and under enhances the one image (which might be better to reduce ghosting), and anything over 40 combines exposures therefore more detail but is a much darker image and can have some ghosting.
actually very good I am so impressed , sometimes we have to change the exposure from default 1/12 to 1/25 or 1/50 in very low light to stop motion blur but it’s still very amazing tech
Having seen this review, I bought 3 of these camera's. So far pretty happy with the image quality especially at night. What I am very dissapointed in is the so called acusense intelligency: I have programmed line crossing smart event by drawing a line in our garden splitting the garden and road alongside. The line is in the middel of the garden, 2 meters away from the road. I have cheched the human and Velihcles boxes. Now at night when a car passes, some headlight light slightly beams over the garden and drawn line and the camera is triggered. So only some light is crossing the line, not the vehicle. I also tried intrusion detection instead, unfortunately with same result. Very very annoing, this is why i bought the acusense in the first place?! Also looking forward to the firmware uopgrade for the lights to come up as alarm. So far not really impressed in general.
I had the same problem you have to go in and adjust the other setting for each intrusion box or line crossing, it will never stop all false alerts but will cut them down dramatically
Yes they can be mounted direct to the wall , the fly lead is better if there is a way to push into the wall cavity but If not you can with precision get this mounted to the wall , but most use the back box as this makes this much easier 😊

Heya mate, I'm loving your videos. New subscriber here in Ireland!! I've just had a terrible experience with reolink cameras and I am now doing the research I should have done in the first place! I bought 6 reolink 4k cameras and an NVR but after setting them up I realised that the nighttime videos are absolutely appalling. They slow their shutter speed down to something like 1/3 or 1/4 sec at night which produces terrible videos with crazy blur and ghosting. It's not user adjustable either. The 6 year old 1080p swann cameras I'm replacing are actually much better at night. I am going to buy a couple of these colorvu cameras as I've now decided that it's better to have two great cameras than 6 sh1te cameras for the same money. My question to you is this - what nvr should I buy to pair with colorvu cameras? I would really like something that has person and vehicle detection and a good android app for live view and playback. The only impressive thing about reolink was the phone app so I'd like to get somewhere near that kind of functionality. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi and welcome to the family 😊 , actually if you want a Good NVR the K series NVR will work well, something like the DS-7608NI-K1 or DS-7608NI-K2 model will be good , the Acusense cameras have both human & vehicle VCA function and the App HIK-Connect is simple to use and works well , and constantly being updated also , I hope this helps and here if needed.
Can I ask you a question - if I was to remotely view my CCTV (4 of these) 24/7, how much internet data will be used? I plan to install these in my food truck and I wish to have the cameras turned on 24/7 from home so that I can monitor it 24/7. Can you tell me how much data will be used on each side?
this is quite hard to be accurate on , as we would need to know the resolution , frame rate , and encoding format of the setup and if you are using main stream or sub stream to view , with 4 cameras I would imagine it would be sub-stream , if you let me know the others I will try to be more accurate
Impossible to predict an accurate figure. However, you would need to probably focus your attention to the Gateway & Upload capabilities ..................... assuming you will be using a 4G Mobile Net type Gateway? ...... may not be suitable for 24/7 live view, however would be perfect to send Push Notifications & Occasional Live View
Steaming MJPEG (5fps say) from 5 cameras for 8hrs, 5 days a week has meant I've clocked over 150GB pcm. If you steamed an rstp for each camera instead, you'll probably get through the same data in just a week.

yes you can use it direct to app with no NVR but you will need a SD card fitted inside the camera, 2. The white light can be programmed to be on all night if you like yes, and regards the HIK driver I am not sure it will have its own specific driver I would need to check 😊

@@N-MV no it shines the hole night! :-/ - colurVu is in my opinion a joke if you life in a area with not much light at night. Hopfuly they combine colorVu in the future with IR to activate the spots only if something happens.
We don’t give pricing out on the channel to be honest but there more than the 4MP by about 20% ish, and the software should be unaffected , do you know the model of the NVR being used by any chance?

yes you can have them record on event , like VCA , motion or if face capture is enabled on the VCA resource tab of the camera, it will then capture and output the face to the face rec recorder if needed, I hope that helps , 8MP image will be very clear 😊

Pls help. i bought 32 channel Hikvision NVR and connected 15 cameras which was showing on both the monitor and Hikconnect APP but the three more cameras i added via POE switch to the NVR are not displaying. Pls help
Depends on the cameras you added, even though it is a 32 channel for example it doesn’t have the bandwidth for 15 4K cameras, you have to have the right combination of cameras
I can't work out how to remove the trim collar so that I can get to the locking screw and the base so that I can attach the camera to the ceiling. Any advice?

Hi I have a hikvision ds7208hthi-k with 4 colour vu 8mp cameras. And there is one camera which goes off every morning randomly “no video” and then comes back on randomly after a few hours. Before it goes off watching the playback the camera goes grainy and dark. And also when it’s back on it’s like It is struggling. And it’s the same camera that does this? All connected via cat cables using balons and a 4 way power supply. Any suggestions to why this is happening ? Would really appreciate some advise. Thank you

I have a hik Ds7608ni-i2 NVR . When I set a camera to anything above 4 MP I get stutter . A person can be walking and the screen will freeze and resume a few seconds later by that time the person has gone. This happens when connected directly to the NVR or via the hik connect app . I have to turn everything down including resolution and camera bit rate . If my NVR is rated for 80mb bandwidth why can't it handle two 4 MP cameras at max bit rate of 6000kbps I have to turn it down to about 800kbps Can you please give me some advise ?
presuming you have updated both the NVR and the IP cameras to the latest firmware , If not please do so , then under record schedule make sure the constant record is used for the 24/7 , and make sure then under camera parameters menu that normal record and event record settings are set the same , this is one of the biggest ones that cause this, also if you had enabled H.265+ . please turn this to H.265 and apply , this should then resolve the issues seen 😊

I bought 1 of these to go with my ds-7608ni-i2. I already had 2 x 4mp colorvu that I wanted to upgrade for a clearer picture. Big mistake so far. I now get 2/3 green screen on my hikconnect app on the 8mp in HD. It won't playback the notifications it captures in yhe app and playback is hit and miss. The 4mp is still perfect in the app
Hi, I have purchased this camera and updated to the latest firmware, using it with the DS-7604NI-KI recorder. I was able to turn on the video/audio function from the recorder but there is no sound. Only get sound when I view from the HIK-CONNECT AP but does not record sound. I am running camera on Poe from recorder so can’t link direct to the camera via local network like you have in video. Any advice regarding the light and sound would be great as currently have non on recorder? Thanks
ok can you check this , on the NVR can you go to the camera settings page and select this camera , please make sure the main stream + the sub steam both are set to video&audio on the drop down choice of the video type, and save , then next go to the record schedule page , and select this camera, make sure there is a record schedule set , then click the advanced or more options box , then there is a tick box for the option “ record audio “ please make sure this is selected and apply , now check again 😊
Hi quick question if I may, can I use the microphone on my phone to speak through the camera, or is it one way audio only? I've just installed this on my garage and the quality of the video and the audio is incredible.
thanks for the question , actually , if you have the /SL model which is coming then you can have 2 way audio from the phone to the camera , but I guess you have the 2387-IU model which as the mic in camera but no speaker 😊
Thank you so much for the reply, yes, you are correct, I have the IU model. On a slightly separate note, I'm having difficulty configuring smart events on both cameras, they work fine on one. When I attempt to configure them on the second one I recive and error message that says Not enough engine decoding resource" . Any ideas?
@@jamiehancock3140 its because its an Acusense, you should have a setting on the VCA tab that says “analyze substream” if you use this for the cameras it should then allow it

Hello, great video again. Im looking for a better extra camera. Now i have 3x the DS-2CD2386G2-ISU/SL with the nvr DS-7608NI-I2/8P. From about 15 meters these cameras are not sharp enough for me. I want to see faces and carnumbers at 40 or 50 meters. Is this camera what im looking for? And so not, which camera do i need? Please can you help me?
they're 8MP cameras , but they will loose quality over the distance mentioned , we also do a 12MP camera but that is a very big jump in price , could you use more of the cameras to cover the area in question ?

is the areas well lit or not ?, under configuration via the web browser , have you gone to image tab , then under Day / night , make sure set to auto and sensitivity to highest, you can test they work by changing the day / night to night and they should come on 😊, past that you can set a time schedule In that menu for the lights to come on 😊
@DVSLTD thanks for replying. They are set to auto but nothing happens. I had to turn them off a while back as they were too sensitive but now none of them work. I can't for the life of me see what I've done wrong.
Why would you not set Video Quality in both Main & Sub-Streams to Highest in the Camera Parameters. Also why not Change Encoding to H.265 in the Sub-Stream settings ............................... i can't think of what you would gain by this
changing to the highest does have a effect on the bitrate and not everyone can tolerate that, in actual deployment it makes little difference to the image quality itself, sub-stream we leave as 264 , we see less issues around this especially when using app on the phone as some phones don’t like to decode the 265 efficiently and therefore for support reasons we leave them that way we min impact on the deployment , but like everything it’s a choice , you can change as required.
Is there a link to the night images yet? I currently have the 4Mp DS-2CD2347G2-LU and am considering making the switch to the ds-2cd2387g2-lu, where the night images should be better than my current camera.
Meanwhile, I own the 2nd ds-2cd2387g2-lu. The 1st one gave problems with recording to the sd card after a month. And after investigation by Hiksvision, I received a new camera. And the 2nd camera shows the same problems with recordings to the sd card after a month. And here I am not getting happy and suspect that there is a problem in a certain series of cameras, if not in all cameras of this type. I have set the following configuration on the camera. Detection recording to the sd card and 24/7 recording to the NAS. This configuration works fine on my other 3 Hiksvision cameras,.
Can you please show us night time and day time footage of this 8Mp Model where the human subject is at a bit of a distance and in motion? Thanks in advance.
@@DVSLTD Thanking you. That way we can see how good a potential intruder looks when he may be at a bit of distance and moving fast, need to see how good the face and the rest of the details show up, or does it all show up like smudged ghost characters.
Again a shame they have not worked so that you don’t need the spacer. Working on external brickwork the spacers really do make the cameras look industrial.

Have changed my 4MP for this 8MP, looks great but live view now sticks every 2secs or so when viewing, 4MP used to run smooth. Have tried rebooting and it's on latest firmware so dunno, any ideas?

It’s a LED to give more light to the image which gives better picture quality and of course can be a great deterrent 😊

I use line crossing instead of intrusion, also you need to tweak the parameters.
Is it possible to mount these turrets directly to a wall? Or only ceiling or adapter mount?

I have 2 colourVues and a Darkfigther connected to DS-7604NI-K1 / 4P NVR - I don't have the same options as you in the consol.

Hi and welcome to the family 😊 , actually if you want a Good NVR the K series NVR will work well, something like the DS-7608NI-K1 or DS-7608NI-K2 model will be good , the Acusense cameras have both human & vehicle VCA function and the App HIK-Connect is simple to use and works well , and constantly being updated also , I hope this helps and here if needed.

Can I ask you a question - if I was to remotely view my CCTV (4 of these) 24/7, how much internet data will be used? I plan to install these in my food truck and I wish to have the cameras turned on 24/7 from home so that I can monitor it 24/7. Can you tell me how much data will be used on each side?
this is quite hard to be accurate on , as we would need to know the resolution , frame rate , and encoding format of the setup and if you are using main stream or sub stream to view , with 4 cameras I would imagine it would be sub-stream , if you let me know the others I will try to be more accurate
Impossible to predict an accurate figure. However, you would need to probably focus your attention to the Gateway & Upload capabilities ..................... assuming you will be using a 4G Mobile Net type Gateway? ...... may not be suitable for 24/7 live view, however would be perfect to send Push Notifications & Occasional Live View
Steaming MJPEG (5fps say) from 5 cameras for 8hrs, 5 days a week has meant I've clocked over 150GB pcm. If you steamed an rstp for each camera instead, you'll probably get through the same data in just a week.

yes you can use it direct to app with no NVR but you will need a SD card fitted inside the camera, 2. The white light can be programmed to be on all night if you like yes, and regards the HIK driver I am not sure it will have its own specific driver I would need to check 😊

I would prefer that the white LED is off at night and only activates if the camera detects some motion in the frame (for good pictures).

@@N-MV no it shines the hole night! :-/ - colurVu is in my opinion a joke if you life in a area with not much light at night. Hopfuly they combine colorVu in the future with IR to activate the spots only if something happens.

We don’t give pricing out on the channel to be honest but there more than the 4MP by about 20% ish, and the software should be unaffected , do you know the model of the NVR being used by any chance?

yes you can have them record on event , like VCA , motion or if face capture is enabled on the VCA resource tab of the camera, it will then capture and output the face to the face rec recorder if needed, I hope that helps , 8MP image will be very clear 😊

can someone tell me of you can shut of the white light (with lampposts closeby) and that it will come on when it detects motion? so that of someone enters your property the light will go on and make then look straight in the camera..

Most definitely, I have a few 8mp. Playbacks fine. Obviously mobile internet speed connection is important. Wifi>Cellular

Pls help. i bought 32 channel Hikvision NVR and connected 15 cameras which was showing on both the monitor and Hikconnect APP but the three more cameras i added via POE switch to the NVR are not displaying. Pls help
Depends on the cameras you added, even though it is a 32 channel for example it doesn’t have the bandwidth for 15 4K cameras, you have to have the right combination of cameras

I can't work out how to remove the trim collar so that I can get to the locking screw and the base so that I can attach the camera to the ceiling. Any advice?
if you grip the base and then turn the collar the opposite way it should then separate from the main camera , 😊

Hi I have a hikvision ds7208hthi-k with 4 colour vu 8mp cameras. And there is one camera which goes off every morning randomly “no video” and then comes back on randomly after a few hours. Before it goes off watching the playback the camera goes grainy and dark. And also when it’s back on it’s like
It is struggling. And it’s the same camera that does this? All connected via cat cables using balons and a 4 way power supply. Any suggestions to why this is happening ?

its most likely the PSU , can you use 1 per camera and test it or upgrade the one to a more powerful amps?

I have a hik Ds7608ni-i2 NVR . When I set a camera to anything above 4 MP I get stutter . A person can be walking and the screen will freeze and resume a few seconds later by that time the person has gone.
This happens when connected directly to the NVR or via the hik connect app . I have to turn everything down including resolution and camera bit rate .
If my NVR is rated for 80mb bandwidth why can't it handle two 4 MP cameras at max bit rate of 6000kbps I have to turn it down to about 800kbps
Can you please give me some advise ?
presuming you have updated both the NVR and the IP cameras to the latest firmware , If not please do so , then under record schedule make sure the constant record is used for the 24/7 , and make sure then under camera parameters menu that normal record and event record settings are set the same , this is one of the biggest ones that cause this, also if you had enabled H.265+ . please turn this to H.265 and apply , this should then resolve the issues seen 😊

I bought 1 of these to go with my ds-7608ni-i2. I already had 2 x 4mp colorvu that I wanted to upgrade for a clearer picture. Big mistake so far.
I now get 2/3 green screen on my hikconnect app on the 8mp in HD.
It won't playback the notifications it captures in yhe app and playback is hit and miss. The 4mp is still perfect in the app
Any ideas where to go next with it? Should hikconnect be able to work properly with a 4k camera?
Buy a computer and use blue iris, that’s what I did BI software & app is much better that Hik-connect

Hi, I have purchased this camera and updated to the latest firmware, using it with the DS-7604NI-KI recorder. I was able to turn on the video/audio function from the recorder but there is no sound. Only get sound when I view from the HIK-CONNECT AP but does not record sound. I am running camera on Poe from recorder so can’t link direct to the camera via local network like you have in video. Any advice regarding the light and sound would be great as currently have non on recorder? Thanks
ok can you check this , on the NVR can you go to the camera settings page and select this camera , please make sure the main stream + the sub steam both are set to video&audio on the drop down choice of the video type, and save , then next go to the record schedule page , and select this camera, make sure there is a record schedule set , then click the advanced or more options box , then there is a tick box for the option “ record audio “ please make sure this is selected and apply , now check again 😊

thanks for the question , actually , if you have the /SL model which is coming then you can have 2 way audio from the phone to the camera , but I guess you have the 2387-IU model which as the mic in camera but no speaker 😊
Thank you so much for the reply, yes, you are correct, I have the IU model. On a slightly separate note, I'm having difficulty configuring smart events on both cameras, they work fine on one. When I attempt to configure them on the second one I recive and error message that says Not enough engine decoding resource" . Any ideas?

@@jamiehancock3140 its because its an Acusense, you should have a setting on the VCA tab that says “analyze substream” if you use this for the cameras it should then allow it

Now i have 3x the DS-2CD2386G2-ISU/SL with the nvr DS-7608NI-I2/8P.
From about 15 meters these cameras are not sharp enough for me. I want to see faces and carnumbers at 40 or 50 meters.
Is this camera what im looking for? And so not, which camera do i need?

they're 8MP cameras , but they will loose quality over the distance mentioned , we also do a 12MP camera but that is a very big jump in price , could you use more of the cameras to cover the area in question ?

Help!!!!! I have the colour Vue gen 1. How the hell do I get the leds to come on at night? I've asked so many people but still can't get them to work :(
is the areas well lit or not ?, under configuration via the web browser , have you gone to image tab , then under Day / night , make sure set to auto and sensitivity to highest, you can test they work by changing the day / night to night and they should come on 😊, past that you can set a time schedule In that menu for the lights to come on 😊
@DVSLTD thanks for replying. They are set to auto but nothing happens. I had to turn them off a while back as they were too sensitive but now none of them work. I can't for the life of me see what I've done wrong.

Why would you not set Video Quality in both Main & Sub-Streams to Highest in the Camera Parameters. Also why not Change Encoding to H.265 in the Sub-Stream settings ............................... i can't think of what you would gain by this
changing to the highest does have a effect on the bitrate and not everyone can tolerate that, in actual deployment it makes little difference to the image quality itself, sub-stream we leave as 264 , we see less issues around this especially when using app on the phone as some phones don’t like to decode the 265 efficiently and therefore for support reasons we leave them that way we min impact on the deployment , but like everything it’s a choice , you can change as required.
Is there a link to the night images yet?
I currently have the 4Mp DS-2CD2347G2-LU and am considering making the switch to the ds-2cd2387g2-lu, where the night images should be better than my current camera.

Meanwhile, I own the 2nd ds-2cd2387g2-lu. The 1st one gave problems with recording to the sd card after a month. And after investigation by Hiksvision, I received a new camera.
And the 2nd camera shows the same problems with recordings to the sd card after a month.
And here I am not getting happy and suspect that there is a problem in a certain series of cameras, if not in all cameras of this type.
I have set the following configuration on the camera.
Detection recording to the sd card and 24/7 recording to the NAS. This configuration works fine on my other 3 Hiksvision cameras,.

Again a shame they have not worked so that you don’t need the spacer. Working on external brickwork the spacers really do make the cameras look industrial.
They are looking at increasing the depth of the base so that cabling can sit behind it , I will let you know ore details when I have them 😊

Have changed my 4MP for this 8MP, looks great but live view now sticks every 2secs or so when viewing, 4MP used to run smooth. Have tried rebooting and it's on latest firmware so dunno, any ideas?
